  1. Happy Veterans Day everyone!
  2. Good like to Chris. Hope he succeeds big time.
  3. I think 2018, but not sure. IF Sano continues to hit like he does, that contract will need to come in his first 3-4 years.
  4. Winning the W Series in two years is a pipe dream. This team isn't poised to make that jump regardless of the season we just had.
  5. Or he'll wait until the next huge contract is deserved and retire before he has to be the one to do it.
  6. I think since Ryan himself has said he pretty much keeps himself out of the draft, it's at least understandable to think he doesn't involve himself too much with the picks.
  7. Only for Minnesota would signing Nishioka be considered a high-profile move :-)
  8. Drafted players that went to college tend to get drafted in their early 20s. :-)
  9. This show is fantastic. Was fantastic last season, is fantastic this season. If there are better shows on television, they are certainly very few in number and not better by a lot. Fantastic acting, great story.
  10. AL rankings: 15th in OBP 14th in wRC+ 14th in position player WAR yet 8th in runs 9th in team FIP 8th in team pitching WAR 9th in rotation FIP 7th in rotation WAR 12th in DRS 10th in UZR Yet we had a winning record and were still in playoff hunt till the last weekend.
  11. I liked Torii for quite some time. I loved his catches and his energy. Even when he initially left, I defended him. I felt Ryan disrespected him by waiting too long to ever make him an offer (not until August before he became a FA) and that the offer (and subsequent offers) were too little based on the market. I liked how he and Santana (and to a lesser extent Nathan) came out and let everyone know what they thought of Ryan giving up on them at the deadline of '07. It wasn't until later in his career (not much later) that my opinion of Hunter changed. Obviously, I didn't think they should sign him for the past season(due to declining skills and overall player production) and am glad he has retired.
  12. Ryan already traded an established CF and leadoff guy for an Ace ;-)
  13. Perhaps Morneau is just an adult and got over it a long time ago.
  14. Another thing about KC: They put emphasis on defense. Awesome defense helps the pitching staff and saves runs. They realize this is important to winning.
  15. Could say that about a ton of people who still, to this day, hate black people. Are they not bigots regardless of their background and how they were raised?
  16. Team must have bowed out when Gardy insisted on a job for Anderson and a roster spot on the 25 man for Punto :-) Do we know for sure Gardy was actually the runner up?
  17. I asked if people back in the day when segregation was in place, would those views have been okay, shrugged off and defended if the people were white, rural, Southern, male, no college, Evangelical Christian and their background made them have issues with black people and because so much of the country agreed with them? Maybe I wasn't clear when I said let's take it a step further, and that's my bad. Semantics aside though, I think my point is clear. And if it's a religious issue for him as he claims, we could look at the bible and see all sorts of things that were okay (and not okay) that people would have real issues with today. If we're using the bible as the basis, then he (and others that agree with him) should support ALL the things the bible says is okay and not okay. How do you think that would go over?
  18. yeah you should read the quote I responded to and my response again. the quote was about his VIEWS. Of course HE didn't suppress the rights of homosexuals. He's not in a position to do so. He supports the suppression of rights for them. And yes, I've seen the conversation about how marriage isn't a right and technically that's right. Let me ask a question: How often are people denied the ability to get married? How often is the reason because one is a man and one is a woman? Also he did do a commercial in support of a politician because the politician supported the curbing of gay marriage And he did say he would be very uncomfortable having gay teammate, which is honest and I respect that. Problem is that when gay teammates read that, that makes it hard for them to be who they are because here is a respected veteran who talks about how uncomfortable it would be around them. Kind of how Jackie Robinson was uncomfortable when he first joined the Dodgers because a lot of his teammates (and fans) were uncomfortable around him. Was that okay to have him feel that way because so much of the country agreed with the view black people shouldn't play baseball with white people?
  19. What if he was a white, rural, Southern, male, no college, Evangelical Christian and his background made him have issues with black people or made him against inter-racial marriage? Let's say he came out and said he was uncomfortable with black people on the same team as him and he came out and supported a politician because that politician supported segregation and said he'd stop inter-racial marriage? Would all of THAT be okay due to his background and upbringing? Now let's take it further. Was it okay to be against black people (and black people playing baseball) back in the day because 40-50% (or more) of the country were against them? Or is discrimination and suppressing people's rights just wrong across the board?
  20. It's gotten much better since the voting changed.
  21. I understand that losing Mr. Saunders was hard, but in what other way was it a tough week for Minnesota sports fans?
  22. Dozier and Plouffe are the only Twins who comes close to deserving a gold glove nomination (and neither deserve the award), so I'm fine with it.
  23. Reynolds makes anyone sound good by comparison..
  24. I love me some Denard Span, and the fan in me says heck ya, but I think I'd rather just see what we have with the younger guys.
  25. And by then, he might very well be labeled as an RP and he'll be in his 30s if he stays with us his whole team controlled time. Kind of like what is likely to happen with May.
