  1. Good question. When a team is last in the AL in OBP, 13th in the AL in OPS and yet 8th in runs scored, that's advantageous sequencing. Sequencing you can't count on again.
  2. Twins pitching staff 20th in FIP. Twins rotation 20th in FIP.
  3. Have the lineups been announced yet?
  4. this reminds me of when Gardenhire said that If everyone else is hitting, no one notices that Punto isn't. Basically putting the blame on the rest of the team for people noticing Puntos futility at the plate. And, btw, this teams offense was overrated by Ryan if he thought that.
  5. perhaps for people who have played outfield before and aren't 270 lb.
  6. With all respect (seriously, no disrespect intended), there's a lot of excuses in this post. And three years? Kept hearing/reading that this year we'd be true playoff contenders and true W Series contenders next year (some even said this year). Is it okay with fans that the needle keeps being moved?
  7. 0-6. Haven't won a game in the last 9 games dating back to last season.
  8. When a guy who had an OBP under .290 in his rookie year has a sophomore slump from what he did as a rookie, what does that look like? :-)
  9. Rosario's job is here for the taking if he goes for it.
  10. This Twins team doesn't have as much talent as some think and that was apparent if one truly looked at how the team performed last year with no real improvements in the offseason. Some people pointed out how bad the bullpen was last year, saw that it is basically the same the same bullpen this year, and said the bullpen would be a problem. Some people saw how bad offense truly was last year regardless of the fluky sequencing (last in OBP, 13th in OPS), saw the team end up with mostly the same faces in the starting lineup it, and figured it'd be a problem this year. Some people saw a rotation that is below average, then saw no one new added, and figured it won't be that good this year either. People who didn't see these things can't claim others who did are seeing these things and pointing them out in hindsight. Well, they can obviously, but not much validity to it.
  11. Escobar was batting .444 going into today and he now has a .348 BA. Nunez has started one game and had a .000 BA going into today. Escobar is doing fine. Nunez will probably get the next three starts because of this one game.
  12. Our pen was bad last year. Management said it was our #1 offseason priority (even though we were last in the AL for OBP and 13th in OPS). We did nothing to correct the bullpen issue. I can't get behind the idea that it wouldn't matter what we did, the bullpen would still be bad.
  13. If Jepsen has to be our closer, we might as well truly give up on the season.
  14. Time to book my reservations to Minnesota for October.
  15. Bright side. Mauer looks good.
  16. Yeah, pretty sure this one is more on Perkins than May
  17. The only weird part of this loss is that Nolasco pitched well. Offense was minimal and the bullpen coughed up the game.
  18. If someone told me before the season some Twins fans still couldn't spell Mauer's name correctly after 12 years in the majors, I'd have said they were crazy :-)
  19. Did you see how often he struck out in an inferior league?
  20. It matters when one praises his batting line while having that many strikeouts and we are talking about sustainability of those numbers (and the person I quoted was talking about sustainability). With those Ks, his numbers wouldn't be like that without that BABIP.
  21. nothing a .400 BABIP can't sustain. (like he has now).
  22. Only if saying we should have never gotten Park to begin with counts :-)
  23. KC announcers crack me up. One said Nunez is the one Minnesota Twins hitter who has done pretty well hitting in all five games with 3 multi-hit games.
