  1. Moderator must make an exception to allow for the Bud and Lou reference that must be made every time a player named Hu is either playing 1B or makes it to !B (single, walk or whatever).
  2. And pitched for Indiana University
  3. So, the FO was supposed to know the following: that Lance Lynn would have the worst year of the last 5, and that Logan Morrison would regress this far from a guy who hit 38 HRs last year, Nevertheless, both have one year contracts and will not constrain the Twins next season. They traded very little for Odorizzi, who is a legit back of the rotation maybe middle of rotation guy under contract for next year. Fernando Rodney has been very good and the Twins retain an option for next year. The best thing the Twins FO did last year was NOT to sign Yu Darvish. Darvish is now a big weight hanging around the Cubs' neck for the next five years!
  4. I was in line for a brat the day after the Dozier trade. A 70-ish year old guy behind was lamenting how "cheap" the Twins were in letting Dozier and Escobar go. I said the Twins did not skimp on salaries this year and will sign free agents next year, possibly including Escobar. I tried to explain the expiring contracts, free agency, rising middle infield stars coming up in minors, how players decline after age 31, and that the Twins got something in return rather than the "big nothing" if they had held on and lost the players in free agency. The guy just looked at me obliviously, secure in the knowledge that he had it figured out correctly. The brat was good though.
  5. Twins are going to have to think about bringing in a FA on a one year deal to cover 2B.
  6. Nick's offensive production with the Lookouts in AA was very good. Now he's falling within close reach of the Mendoza line at AAA Rochester., Is he banged up? Have pitchers figured out how to pitch to him? Many of us had him pemcilled in at 2B for 2019, but maybe this is why we use pencils instead of pens.
  7. This is a big offseason. Hopefully, Sano learned a few things during his "trip to the woodshed!"

    Fools Gold

Sano and Buxton are still young. It's 2nd and 10. It would be nicer to have done better on first down, but there is time for redemption, even if we have to punt and get the ball back later.
  9. The TWins need to be patient with Reed. Otherwise, all of this year's free agents and expiring contract crowd can go for a decent price.
  10. Too early to give up on Garver. Rotvedt (you spell it) is meanwhile rising thru the minors.
  11. Or - they could talk to LaTroy Hawkins.
  12. Only deal Gibson if the price is very good. He has been very good from Late 2017 till now!
  13. The Twins need Bullpen Help????? Then why did they send Moya back to AAA????
  14. Also - Nothing falls but our Won-loss percentage!
  15. First, I must say, the 2018 slogan has been a poor choice considering the results on the field. So help the marketing department - Fill in the blank - My answers - This is how we _______________ 1. Lose Lose Lose 2. Squander good pitching performances 3. Put up huge LOB numbers, if we can get anyone OB 4, Aggravate our fans 5, Sell Sell Sell up to the trading deadline
  16. This season is so frustrating - what else can we do? No way, it should ever have been this bad. They're even making old guys watch the anemic offense on Facebook.
  17. The Twins have abundance of very good middle infielders. Plan should include trading Dozier and Escobar before trading deadline this month (presuming we get some value). We have the replacements. Nick Gordon has earned a call-up and Jorge Polanco will be back soon. Ehire Adrinaza is a versatile and less expensive utility man. Escobar has earned a starting job somewhere anyways. Gordon and Polanco are the middle infielders of the near future. Sano will likely be back at third base. If anything doesn't work out (like Sano!!!), Twins can sign Escobar in the off-season or maybe be the only taker on Dozier on a one year contract.
  18. It's not the heat, it's the HUMILITY - and the Twins got another dose of humility!
  19. He's available for the MLB minimum. Should the Twins pick him up. I vote "No" , but maybe the brain trust thinks they can fix Hanley!!!
  20. I agree, Petit getting more starts and LaMarre getting more at bats makes mucho sense!
  21. As I said - desperate times. Doen't look like much else at AAA would upgrade this line-up. Not excited about Carter unless he proves something.
  22. The Twins, desperately in need of more offense, have two right handed bats at catcher in AAA: Wynston Sawyer and Williams Astudillo. Is it time to replace the anemic hitting of Bobby Wilson with one of these guys? Won't solve the current run production problem, but it couldn't hurt. Watching this line-up fail to score night in and night out is starting to wear me down! Are these desperate times needing desperate measures???
  23. Twins need to keep Lance Lynn a bit longer, 2 or 3 more starts, to see if he can regain his form. Is May out of options or can the Twins leave him at AAA?
  24. I'm bringing the Nishioka shirt out of the closet today to punish the Twins for this last week!
