  1. The ESPN Article states that the Mets are shopping Jonathon Niese (mid-rotation lefty) for a shortstop (Danny Santana?). He's only 28, and it may be nice to add another lefty into the mix. I'd be likely to stick with an everyday young player over another mid-rotation guy - but it's an idea with Escobar as an adequate SS and Nick Gordon working his way through the minors. The Mets also want to trade 41 year old Bartolo Colon, even covering part of his salary, but father-time will soon catch up with him. No reason to add Colon - the Twins are building for the future an NOT trying to win an extra 4 games in 2015.
  2. No No No. Why do we need another guy with some power to back up first base? We have Vargas and Parmalee already. I don't get the attraction, unless the Twins are just beefing up the roster in Rochester.
  3. I like having at least one lefty in the rotation. The team has no sure options for that lefty. It's Milone, Darnell, Kris Johnson and a few like Steve Gonsalves not yet on the horizon. The Twins were wise to add another candidate to the mix. I like this move and hope they sign him.
  4. Why not competition between Santana and Escobar for the SS position?? And the season long competition shouldn't end there. In Left, the battle should ultimately be between "Last Chance" Hicks and Rosario (.382 and .820 OPS in Arizona Fall League), and in RF, Plouffe and Arcia can ultimately compete for the starting job. Plouffe should start the year at third, but could move to right field if Arcia doesn't cut it or when Sano comes up.. Ultimately, we'll see Buxton in CF - IF HE CAN STAY HEALTHY. If all play well, then we'll have a great bench. I suspect some of these players won't play well or will be injured, another reason to keep Escobar and all of the above (no trades unless the other team comes to us with an decent offer, nobody is untouchable - including Buxton for the right price).
  5. A lot of questions as to how many Twins insiders fill out the coaching staff. Does Bruno return as hitting coach? Is Terry Steinbach part of the staff? Do we have someone with extensive managerial experience (minor or major) as Third Base Coach or Bench Coach, and wouldn't that person logically be Gene Glynn? Does Mientkewicz get promoted to Class AA or AAA? Is there a place for Dougie Baseball on the Major League Staff? Pitching coach - Should we go outside of the organization or is it Bobby Cuellar, the biggest question of all? Is there a place for fired Cubs Manager Rick Renteria on this staff??? Finally, are we going to have to put up with the nickname Molly? The uke's use of it always grated on me!
