  1. I keep looking a prior years standings and don't see DRP reflected. Or WAR. BABIP? ISO? LIPS? OPS+? wRC+? wOBA? FIP? Does baseball need to update the way standings are posted? The way wins and losses are determined? Do wins and losses even matter any more? Do we need to stop looking a runs scored and runs allowed? Do we even need to play the games? Kinda feels like maybe realignment is not where the game needs to focus........
  2. Or he could show us that he's good at SS. Radar guns and stop watches don't play.
  3. The thing about having three prospects is that baseball history tells us anything it's that one of the three will be a bust, one will a player and maybe, just maybe, if all the stars align, one of them will be everything hoped for. That's why it's not a bad idea to have other options.
  4. Making judgements based on a hundred games of evidence is how a team ends up in an endless cycle of mediocrity. Oh, wait!!!!!!!!
  5. He's hundreds of plate appearances short of where he needs to be to make a reasonable judgement about his bat and has started 87 games at short, but sure, yes, if you say so.
  6. I get so confused. I read one article that says we don't have a shortstop. So the kid who three short years ago was Twins Daily's # 1 rated Twins prospect can't play. But, lucky for us the next article i read says we have a shortstop "pipeline." Yay. The sky is not falling,
  7. If only we lived in a world where it were possible to play some baseball games and conclude that JJ Cooper and Ian Cundall might NOT be right.
  8. Dude, stop selling hope. If guys acquired at the deadline start being part of the solution I might have to think positive. That can be very dangerous on this site. Just tell us the sky is falling so we can all get back to going on with our lives.
  9. And it's entirely possible that your outlook is entirely wrong. It is also possible that the team actually knows what it is doing. I know I might be wrong. I even admit. You are certain you are not wrong. That, in and of itself, is a formula for being wrong.
  10. Oh, c'mon man. I'm engaged in an ongoing debate with one of this site's "community moderators" about the fact that it MIGHT be possible for this team to exceed expectations and you go and TOTALLY redeem my argument. Dude, your positivity is gonna get me banned from this site if you're not careful.
  11. No, you stated an OPINION that they haven't made meaningful upgrades. You have no way of KNOWING. Sometimes, things happen that you don't foresee. Quite often I would actually guess. Improvement is probably most likely to come from a combination of acquired players and development of folks already on the roster. You might not believe that but those types of things DO happen in the real world. With regularity. Teams make improvements when it's unexpected just as often as when it's expected, in fact maybe more often.
  12. The last 8 years have seen a lot of talented pitchers brought into the organization. Maybe the biggest problem is that they do too good a job of selling the hype. And then when the hype outpaces the performance we're disappointed.
  13. Like I've said before. Typical Twins fan. Wake up scared that somebody pissed in your cereal and if nobody did you do it yourself.
  14. Since only 20 pitchers (among those with at least 17 starts) averaged 6+ innings i'd say having two such SP would be a good thing.
  15. If I had a nickel for every time the assessment of management regarding the team was closer than that of the fan base I'd have a lot of nickels.
  16. Nice story. IF they trade all four of those guys i MIGHT believe it.
  17. Ya'll wanted lanes changed, lanes have changed and still not happy. Cereal comment stands.
  18. Gotta love this site. Whine for years about the direction of the team. Team responds. Whine about the direction of the team. Like i've said for a long time: The only thing Twins fans hate more than the team not doing what the fans want them to do is the team doing what the fans want them to do. Twins fans wake up every morning thinking that someone pissed in their cereal and if no one did they do it themselves.
  19. Larnach had a WAR of .1 in 500 ABs and an OPS of .727 Caratini had a WAR of .9 in 344 ABs and an OPS of .728 You don't have to debate and I'm fine with that. At those numbers I'll take Caratini with or without debate. His bat is just as good as Larnach. Their career production per plate appearance is almost identical. Given that I'll take the guy who spends 80% of this time at a premium (and more demanding) defensive position.
  20. Caratini MAY not be better than Larnach. He's certainly what we've always thought Larnach SHOULD be. Sadly, neither is Larnach. Caratini is, however, more versatile being a switch hitter and playing more premium defensive positions.
  21. C'mon man. Stop it. Starting pitching is reason for optimism? Joe Ryan is one of the top 10 pitchers in the American League? Trade him. NOW. We can't have this nonsense.
