    Does that mea if Hicks takes every BP swing like it was bottom 9 game 7 bases loaded 2 outs then before long he'll be an above average hitter?? That would solve our problems. I would be much more concerned about his hitting if he starts day 1 in LF. Although the work ethic in general would be a valuable lesson to learn.

    If, as the article suggests, he does actually have some work ethic or motivation issues, maybe the new skipper will be a complete no-nonsense guy and not want anything to do with Hicks. I know if I were a manager and I had a guy who is struggling to stay in the big leagues and he is not taking EVERY opportunity to better himself and he doesn't seem entirely motivated, he wouldn't find himself in my lineup very often.

    You're right, your memory isn't quite what it used to be. What actually happened was the Ump checked down to the lady behind the third base dugout and she called them both strikes. Stee-RIKE!
