  1. Whoops, he hung one on Nunez. Buh-bye!
  2. This McCullers dude has a very sharp break on his curve. Almost Duffey like.
  3. Just walked in to see Santana strike out that last guy. Who scored for the good guys?
  4. This is why I told kids, "Always throw the ball hard. Baseballs love it when you throw them hard, and if you don't, they'll run away."
  5. Duensing is still in there. Saving the other bull pen arms.
  6. See Sano, Miguel flail at a Pat Neshek Frisbee curve.
  7. Byron Buxton's problem stems from a lack of confidence, which manifests itself with uncertainty, flat feet and no rhythm at the plate. You have to pretend that you're going to smack the crap out of every pitch, then hold up when you see that the pitch isn't in your zone. Buxton right now is standing flat footed, thinking he can suddenly produce a swing without shifting his weight. He's dead meat as long as he does that. You can commit your weight without bringing the bat around. See Sano, Miguel.
  8. Duensing actually threw a 93mph heater to Altuve. Tough little out.
  9. I could get two of those Hulk Smash fists, hold them at arm's length...
  10. I also want a button on my clicker that makes people's heads explode on TV. That would be so cool...
  11. Remember the TV Brick? Sponge brick you could throw at the TV when pissed. I'd like one about now.
  12. This would be a good time for Buxton to remember how to hit.
  13. Fiers out. Next guy can't be that good.
  14. All that sodium keeps by BP up there in the stroke range, where I like it. ;-)
  15. I wonder when Blaine Boyer will finally get busted for throwing spit balls in plain sight for the whole year...
  16. Well, maybe I should cough up my faux pho recipe. Nothing too complicated. Package of Ramen, doesn't matter what kind. Break the noodles inside the package, so you don't have to cut them with a spoon later. Locate a Jethro Bowl. That's the size used by Jethro Clampett in Beverly Hillbillies. Into that bowl/bucket throw a couple handfuls of mixed frozen veggies, the smashed noodles, the spice packet and enough water to get about an inch from the top. At this point you can spice to taste, but what I add is a couple squirts of oyster sauce, sriracha, and soy sauce (Kimlan, baby). Then a few shakes of Chinese five spice, some chopped onions, and a little granulated garlic. Last part is the meat, which for me is either frozen chicken or that fake crab stuff. Nuke the whole mess for about 7 minutes, however long it takes to boil. This will make four servings, or one big serving that will add about 5 pounds to your disgusting, unforgivable gut.
  17. Gattis popped up into the air. Feet off ground with Dozier's glove still touching his knee. Out.
  18. Buxton is getting pretty good at those shoestring catches. And he has a nice smile. I'd like to keep him around.
  19. Mike Fiers's delivery reminds me of a right handed Cole Hamels. Overhand, with a waist bend the reminds me of one of those drinking bird toys. http://www.amazon.com/Drinking-Bird-4975-The-Famous/dp/B000JSGLBK Note: I'm not hawking for Amazon. But I still think those ripstop nylon shopping bags are pretty neat.
  20. That was an odd strikeout. Why did Rasmus just stand there for a straight fastball right down the middle?
  21. Not a bad little snag by Byron Buxton. Almost doubled off the runner, too.
  22. Key for Mike Pelfrey tonight is no walks, or runs, for about seven innings.
  23. Max Kepler has definitely earned a September call-up. The team could use a young, fast lefty bat with gap power in the lineup, right about where Joe Mauer is today.
  24. Eduardo Escobar's dilemma is a little like Trevor May's. Both guys are so versatile, it's tempting to use them to fill holes, rather than putting them where they could do the most good long term. Problem is, this short-term hole filling does work, if you've got guys that can do it. Escobar as utility guy did allow Molitor to give Danny Santana an extended tryout at short, and he filled in other places as needed. May in the pen allowed Molitor to see if Mike Pelfrey could still start - and Pelfrey has in fact done surprisingly well. Unfortunately, the fact that the Twins need a couple super-utility guys like Escobar and May reveals a lack of stability in the starting lineup. It's hard to see how a patchwork team like this can go far in the post season.
