  1. Well if they call up Jennifer Garner then team morale might pick up a little bit?
  2. Well he pitched into the 8th inning and only gave up 3 runs, he did great, I think if the starter is going good keep sending him out there, no better way to build confidence than to pitch deep into the game. Kudos Gibson
  3. Yes, I too sometimes wonder what free agents think about going to Minnesota? They have a long history of dumping people, they did quite well with free agents back in the late 80's and early 90's, (Jack Morris, Don Baylor, Chili Davis, etc....) but I can't think of any real good ones as of late, except the big singings of Nolasco, Hughes, and Santana
  4. No he's probably just focused, but does it seem like his FB is a few ticks slower today??
  5. He already plays in a pitcher friendly park?
  6. I'm glad the Twins went after someone. The rotation looks better now. Not great, but better
  7. Yeah, that's why I brought it up, Buxton was Soooo bad to start the season that he has had to have had some really good stretches just to get to where he is. It says something, he hasn't done that bad, if you take away the first month.
  8. I would probably be in the stand Pat group, it seems to me that for the Twins to get better they need a starting pitcher, a la Gray. Their everyday lineup is young and talented, so I don't see where they would waist thier time trading for a position players. The big issue with getting that solid starter is after the Quintana deal, do they have enough to actually get a guy like that?? If not then get a small piece for the bull pen and go with what you have.
  9. I hope they aren't, I'd view it as a distraction. If I were playing I wouldn't look at these things ever. JMO And I agree, none of this stuff is life or death, no one should wish anyone to die, even though I'm sure most people aren't being literal. But I agree.
  10. The Twins are a half a game out of first after the first 6 games of their brutal stretch coming out of the All Star Break!!! Going to make it for some tough decisions coming up quickly!
  11. Just think when a guy has a first month where they hit .350 they can be below average for the rest of the season and still look pretty decent at the end of the year. Fast starts always makes things look good.
  12. How do you show the young guys that you believe in them if you are willing to trade away their leaders like Dozier, Santana, Kintzler, etc... If you do that then you are basically telling everyone that you aren't good enough. Usually when teams are trading for help to make a post season run they trade prospects, guys that haven't contributed as of yet, like what the Cubs did. You trade Dozier, Santana, and Kintzler when you have given up on the season and you are gearing up for the future, like the White Sox. That's why I've been kinda saying they should go with what they have, or trade some prospects for a decent pitcher, if you don't want to let the prospects go then wait till the off season FA and go after one of them and for this year hang tough with what you got, or add a cheap RP for the stretch drive.
  13. Yeah I think a lot of the complaining starts with the pitching staff, I mean where's Tommy Milone when you need him The majority of the rest of the complaints are geared towards the young up and coming stars. (Rosario his Fielding miscues, Polanco his recent mistakes, Buxton his hitting woes, etc... and then the bullpen.) The young up and coming stars are going to make mistakes, that's part of the game, you just hope they learn from them and get better. It's watching the growing pains of what could be a good team. A lot of the reaction is also coming because at times they play the game like they have arrived and are ready to challenge for post season greatness and then at other times they play like they are 23 and 24 year olds in MLB. So develop pitching, or bring in some pitching and watch these guys eventually fight for greatness. I wonder what these threads would have looked like in '83, '84, '85 the years when Hrbek, Gaetti, Bruno, and Puckett were coming through as youngsters. I'm sure Kirby and the crew would have had a lot of criticism back then. And if only they could pick up Ron Guidry and Kieth Hernandez they then have a legit shot at winning it all:) Plus back then you didn't get to watch all 162 games on Fox Sports, you often listened on the radio or read the result in the newspaper. So a lot less quick emotion responses.
  14. In all honesty, if Pressly can get his curve ball over for a strike his 96 MPH fastball would be dangerous. I watched a couple of his curve balls last night hit the dirt about 3 feet in front of the plate. If he can throw a few of those for strikes, and then have them drop out of the zone, but not hit the dirt 3 feet in front of the plate he would be deadly as a relief pitcher. So maybe putting him in long relief/mop up duty, he can work on that very pitch, because he will often get 2 innings of work so plenty of low stress opportunities to try and throw that pitch for a strike. Build up confidence. He probably doesn't trust throwing it in high stress situations where they have a 1 run lead in the 7th, so he keeps chucking the 96-97 MPH fastball up there because it's the only pitch he knows he can throw for a strike, he gets lots of K's but also has a crazy HR rate because of it. So give him a month as a mop up guy to work on that pitch, it could pay dividens in the future. But he can't be brought in in high stress situations until he has that fixed. I mean that home run last night; it reminded me of nuke Laloush from Bull Durham, "Man he hit that thing like he knew it was coming?" "He did, I told him." But it's just a fact that the hitters know he has to throw it to them or walk them. I really hope Pressly can get that curve ball to work for him. Once he does, he will be tough. It looked like he also threw a couple of change ups last night too.
  15. I mean they keep starting Gibson? Albeit he's had a few decent ones lately, but Colon probably won't do any worse that what Gibby has done most of the year. I mean if Colon strings together 2 or 3 decent starts and his Era will be around 6 also?
  16. I personlly think Rosario could be better than a 4th OFer, he has made strides, but boneheadedness probably doesn't need a measurement, because if a player continues to do boneheaded things then they end up looking for another job. I mean Ryan Leaf spent a few years and kept doing boneheaded things and eventually they gave up on him. I also believe Rosario is hitting better than Gomez did when Gomez was here.
  17. I think Eddie has done a good job at the plate, considering what we thought he would do, he has been clutch at times and not so clutch at other times, but offensively he's done well for a 7th or 8th spot in the lineup. But....... I imagine that the coaches have probably talked to him about hitting the cut off more than once??? I mean I see a bloop single last night, the Yankees baserunner is going for 3rd and maybe if he was in perfect position, such as moving towards 3rd when he gets the ball etc... Fine go for it, but the ball was hit slowly, Rosario is running towards 2nd to field the ball and then has to do a spinning 360 in order to get anything on the throw to 3rd which allows the guy who hit the bloop single to go all the way to 2nd. I mean at the point where you have to do a spinning 360, that should set something off in your mind that you should prob hit the cut off?? I'm sure the coaching staff just had to look at him when he walked into the dugout. Like what the F was that? Even Sano looked at him when he fielded the ball, like what are you doing??
  18. That 96 MPH fastball looks great as it's rocketing out of the building. Maybe since he throws so hard, he could do everyone a favor and just turn around and throw the ball out of the stadium, save us all a lot of headaches watching guys just crush that **** everytime.
  19. He needs to quit thinking and start playing.
  20. Sure seemed like it took him a long time to get there??
  21. Man I don't get batting Granite 2nd? I'd love to see Mauer and Sano get maybe one more at bat each game?
  22. I'm pretty sure the Hughes thing didnt just catch them off guard today?? Pretty sure they have been planning this one. But if that were true, could you imagine the conversation?? "Hey Dillon, come on in and close the door. Oh by the way, that thing where we placed you on waivers, well that was all just a joke. Oh actually, we are hamstrung with this 40 man rule that says we have to keep you now that we DLed Phil, so congratulations, you're back in AAA." Dillon, "yeah? F you guys"
  23. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2017/07/twins-to-select-contract-of-bartolo-colon-outright-dillon-gee.html
  24. It would have been nice if they had given Gee a chance, he seemed to be doing well in AAA. I'm going to go with my cup is half full and try to be positive with Colon 5 innings, 5 hits, 0 runs, 1BB's, 2K's, 85 pitches. Starts the 6th, gives up a hit and Molitor comes out to get him and he leaves to an ovation Someone gets on base every inning, but no one scores. Boy I hope I'm right.
  25. Well when John Q Public quit going to the games back in the late 90's; MLB just about cancelled all Twins checks, permanently. I'm just saying that the voice of the Twins shouldn't be denigrating the people who follow the club. It would be like the manager of a McDonalds telling all of his customers that they are fat. He might be right, and McDonalds (MLB) isn't going to suffer too bad, but that one location might not get any customers anymore. Plus it also puts a bad spin on the ownership and the GMs in a different light. It's like those fans that said D.A.R.Y.L when Strawberry would come to bat, and if he turned around and flipped them off, guess what, at that point all of the fans know that he is now listening and they are now going to really go after him. A professional blocks that crap out and doesn't let the fans get to him. It actually tells me that all of those people are reading these stupid trade ideas that all off the fans are proposing, I'd think as professionals that they wouldn't even pay attention to this crap; that they'd be talking to their scouts and calling up other GMs, owners, etc.... Why are they even looking at this? This is for fans to banter, and wish for stuff, and have a place to criticize those that play baseball a million times better than we do, but nonetheless we criticize anyway so as to vent about our favorite team. But if we can't do that here, then maybe, especially a lot of younger people, who as a generation, might not pledge their allegiance so easily anymore will gravitate towards a better organization where they are allowed to do this type of stuff. I mean the fans of the Yankees and Red Sox have been this way for, well, since the beginning of time as far as I can remember. So my point is, I know the Polads write the checks, but it lacked professionalism to talk about stuff that they really shouldn't even be paying attention to. They should be just blocking this stuff out and let the fans be fans. Hey maybe we all should propose really crazy trades now, just to piss them off. I think maybe the Twins could pry Kershaw away from the Dodgers with a package of Polanco, Gibson and maybe one of their AA starters, like Jorge, because Gonsalves should definitely be off the table.
