  1. I appreciate the thoughts but it doesn’t really do much for me. If they want to assure I’ll watch it there’s one simple change they need to make: have it mean something again (winning league gets home field in the WS)
  2. Sweet. Hopefully the: “we’ll be fine because of the soft schedule” attitude is coming to fruition.
  3. Had a chance to go to the Lookouts game last night as I was in town on business. A couple observations: 1. Very nice ballpark and night for a game, but attendance was less than 1,800 attendance the place felt pretty empty. I'm assuming it fills up a bit more when the team is in contention. 2. I wonder if the lack of attendance could also be due partially to the lack of marquee players on the roster. I was scanning it a bit before I got there and Rooker was really the only one I knew anything about. Seems like the Twins system has position players to be excited about in A ball and lower, but not a lot at AA or AAA. 3. I was impressed with Rooker. He was far more athletic than I thought he would be. For some reason, I was picturing him as a Daniel Palka/Tyler Austin-type, but he's much quicker than that. He flew in from third on a passed ball. I guess I shouldn't be surprised by this as he's started 42 games in LF for the Lookouts this season, but it was interesting. Versatility can't hurt!
  4. I'd be 100% fine with that. Clearly there are options at AAA that could hit over .167 and give you adequate defense in CF.
  5. Don't worry about the AAA yo-yo. Just send Buxton down until he's hitting again. That's fine if it's August. Whoever you run out there can't be any worse: just play decent defense and hit like .230. I'd think LaMarre could do that.
  6. I like this approach. Very business-like. Essentially like putting an employee on a Performance Plan. Whether or not they agree with it and buy-in is up to them. My concern is that Mauer won't want to. I tried to watch him closely during the 3 HR inning where he got his first. The entire rest of the team were smiling, jumping up and down, enthusiastic. I literally don't think Mauer ever cracked a smile with his home run. He seems out of place on this youth-forward team. I wish he could embrace his role as the veteran leader and find some enjoyment in trying to leave his legacy.
  7. I think Michael Cederoth could've gotten consideration for a Honorable Mention: 30 G, 4-0, 2.45 ERA, 1.43 WHIP, 47.2 IP, 35 H, 33 BB, 61 K. I liked it that they tried him as a started the past two years, but it seems like he's settled in well exclusively in relief.
  8. Brandon Lopez fires me up. Shortstop from a big time college program, hitting .353 at E-Town. Obviously a bit old for the league but he's dominating as he should. Twins should definitely give him a taste of Cedar Rapids before year's end.
  9. This really was sad. Whole season has been sad, but I was really surprised to not be able to watch the Twins on the Fourth. Who do you think would be better to send a complaint to: the Twins organization or FSN?
  10. How long does the Sano in RF experiment continue? Wouldn't this rehab assignment be a great opportunity to get him back up to speed on 3B?
  11. How do the AAA and AA portions of this draft work? I understand for the major league portion that a player would have to remain on the 25 man roster for the duration of the season or be returned to his original club, but how do the AAA and AA portions work? Will any of the guys above be exposed to these portions? I know the Twins got Greg Peavey in the AAA section last season...
  12. Totally agree. The number of times Park struck out in Korea against inferior pitching does not seem to bode well for his MLB success. I really wonder what Adam Brett Walker would've done over there.
  13. "Even with the league's caveats (lower velocity, smaller ballparks, juiced baseballs), hitters do not reach those totals that consistently without being a special talent." This is the part I disagree with. As was noted on a different thread, this dude hit 48 home runs (to Park's 53): http://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.cgi?id=navarr001yam And Eric Thames hit 47. Are those guys "special talents?" Don't get me wrong- I hope it works out with Park, but I think given the lower level of competition in Korea, 20-25 home runs might be the best we could hope for. And how many strikeouts would we have to put up with to get that? I feel like any number of Twins could do that a lot cheaper: Vargas, Arcia, ABW...
  14. I enjoyed these reports. Thanks for taking the time to write them up!
  15. What's the best way to follow the Lookouts' game tonight? Looks like the final three games in Montgomery will be on milb.tv but not tonight's yame.
  16. Wow! I thought we were done. I really would like Escobar to be the full time SS the rest of the way
  17. Agreed. That's who he sounds like to me too. I like what Revere brings to a team, but I'd like to aim higher from 6 overall.
  18. love it. I would've done the same thing, Same old song and dance. Same old dog-and-pony-show. Let's get 'em St Paul! I'll be rooting for the Twins (while I puke in a bucket. And scream quietly into a pillow... Just look outside the organization,,, for once.. change up the culture... please! hope "Molly" (puke again) can do it.... please!)
  19. As much as I want him to, I doubt Terry Ryan would hire from outside the organization. I feel like we need a totally fresh set of eyes on this thing (and unfortunately, Ryan being retained makes this more difficult). So of the internal guys, my preference would go: 1. Mientkiewicz 2. Molitor 3. Glynn
  20. As a long-time lurker at TwinsDaily, I had to sign-up for an account to say Thank You for this post! This is awesome. I'm excited about the Twins' minor league pitching prospects and what the organization is doing at the minor league level. Looks really professional. Thanks for the inside look, Bob!
