  1. Those are video game stats by those 3 lookouts hitters. I'm not sold completely on Walker just yet, but man he's fun to follow. Sano and Kepler are looking like pretty sure things at the major league level, and if Walker can cut down on those K's just a bit, he's probably right there with them. It will be interesting to see where they place him given his OF defense isn't all that good from what I've read. But if he can improve just a bit on his contact, he'd likely be a pretty awesome DH/corner OF.
  2. I'd be a bit careful working off of the top 20. These kids aren't scouted quite like they are in the US. Arcia was a 30k signing and then you have plenty of 1M plus guys who never make it. I personally don't care too much about the top 20 and just care about the fact that they go get the guys that they feel are most likely to succeed. That has equated to 1-3 guys the last few years who are top 20-30ish range with typically 1 guy over 1M and 2 more in the 500-900k range and a bunch of lower guys. The important point is that they spend their money (which they have). That said, if they think Javier is the next Sano and aren't too impressed with everyone else, then by all means, go for Javier.
  3. The cap is cumulative. You don't get unlimited picks under a certain range. They are rumored in on other picks, not to mention I don't think it's their style to go all in on one guy. I suspect they will be trading for cap space as teams like the Cubs have excess which they cannot use...
  4. I wouldn't be shocked at all if this is the plan for the next 2-3 weeks as they move closer to the deadline. Gives a couple more weeks where an injury/ineffectiveness could sort out the problem and if not, someone gets moved at the deadline.
  5. The Twins have been rumored in on others. I doubt they are done. I suspect they plan on making some trades.
  6. I'm guessing the plan is to unload some of the near ready back of the rotation types in Rochester (Pat Dean comes to mind) for cap dollars. Those guys are pretty valuable to a lot of teams and really won't have a shot here with the 7 MLB starters we currently have and the guys like Rogers, Berrios, and Duffey making a case to be included.
  7. I really hope it isn't May. I'd like to believe that Milone has generated enough value to fetch a decent spec or some significant international dollars. I'd much rather roll with May.
  8. Is it just me, or has Garver started to turn things around? I really hope so as he looked like he could hit well as he moved up the ladder.
  9. From John Sickle's site; http://www.minorleagueball.com/2015/6/26/8841633/twins-prospect-nick-gordon-scouting-report-and-projection
  10. He was effective last night in Fort Meyers. Put up a blank with a K.
  11. If you notice in his slide he breaks his fall with his hands instead of extending them out towards the bag... That's typically what you do when you trip, not when you are diving for a bag... but yeah, that type of fall will do wonders to your wrists.
  12. Hardy for Gomez wasn't terribly bad... It was what we got from Hardy when we traded him again that was bad.
  13. This. Jay should be pretty far down on the depth chart, and I have a very hard time believing that he would be better out of then pen than both Rogers, Meyer, or O'Rourke.
  14. Here's to hoping that confidence is a big step to getting him back in the starting rotation. Until then, I hope he's lights out.
  15. wonder what makes more sense... letting Polanco stay at SS or moving Dozier back to SS and letting Polcano play 2nd. Polanco isn't going to be a defensive whiz at SS, and may not be one 2nd either...
  16. I will be sorely disappointed if May removed from the rotation. He's really starting to shine and looking like he could be a #2 or maybe even a #1 guy. His K rate and BB rates are excellent and he's bringing the hits down too, not to mention he has that velocity thing that people crave. Milone should be the odd guy out, and I don't think it's close. Other than a possible 'dead arm' DL of Hughes (and given his last couple starts I don't see it), I think Milone is likely moved next month before the deadline. As for Meyer, Mijares is a guy I think of who came up and dominated in the pen during a short run. Meyer could do something like that, though I still think that the Twins start him in Rochester next year and try the starting thing over again (they should). Not to mention that a number of very good starters have spent some time learning how to pitch in the pen. Meyer could benefit from that. As a matter of fact, I seem to remember reading that this was very common in the St. Louis organization to have their starters spend some time in the pen. Anyways, that said, good luck to Meyer. Even with his wildness, I have to think he's going to be better than a few of the guys getting trotted out there every couple days.
  17. I forgot he was Boras. I'd be very tempted to give him a QO this offseason if he continues to pitch well. He'll almost certainly reject it.
  18. yeah, no way I dump May. He might be the best of both the Span and Revere trades... who wudda thought?
  19. I like the Embassy... In Tampa this week... Just got back from a really yummy seafood dinner.
  20. I thought this would be a Joe Mauer thread I think Milone has to move. Huges might get a dead arm DL stint temporarily, but beyond that, someone goes to the pen or is traded.
  21. I'd add that I don't think the promote them b/c their young argument is necessarily a safe one either. While it's possible that their velocity is a bit higher at those younger ages, these guys aren't suddenly moving from mid 90s heat to Tommy Milone heat. You have to do what's in their best interests. Burdi started out in FTM and got off to a really bad start, so saying he should have started in AA seems odd, especially since his AA start wasn't exactly good either. People learn things at these stops. I'd imagine they learn quite a bit.
  22. I seem to remember reading a few years ago that something ridiculous like 40% of their customers were still using dial up internet.
  23. A star. That's what you have. Kid has an impressive ceiling.
