  1. Here is Sickle's review of their top 20 (posted a few days ago). Truthfully, not a ton of good matches. I wouldn't mind Max Pentecost, but he's pretty far away from the show himself (and a former college star sitting in low A with a shoulder injury doesn't scream catcher of the future), and I suspect my liking of Vlad Gurrrero Jr. has more to do with his dad's success as a major leaguer than him. Sean Reid-Foley is another name there that I personally would covet.
  2. Yeah, I'd part with Santana for a decent package. I'd rather dump Milone and Nolasco for nothing though and keep Santana, but if Toronto wants to blow us away, by all means, let them... so here's a name I want to speculate on: Dylan Bundy. Fantastic prospect and fantastic minor league results. Pitching out of the pen in Baltimore this season (in really his rookie year) as he struggled as a starter. Baltimore needs starters. Would something like Santana/Abad plus maybe a lower tier prospect get that done, or am I over/undervaluing him?
  3. Strangely enough, MN is on Lucroy's NTC. I find it odd that he put a team on there that wouldn't be interested in acquiring him.
  4. It's saving Molitor from himself in the form of taking bread away from a diabetic.
  5. That's a lot of scouts... will have to keep an eye on TD tonight.
  6. Yeah, Lucroy knows his deal is under valued, and probably part of why he gave them a friendly option was the NTC power that he got with it. He's well within his rights here, and he apparently doesn't want to go to Cleveland... Now I have to ask though, why didn't Milwaukee bother talking to him about that before hand?
  7. MLBTR said Cleveland had interest in an A's lefty reliever... so I'd think they might have interested in Abad. I don't know if Cle would do it, but I'd pretty happy with Antony if he managed to add a high impact catching prospect, even if said prospect starts next year in AA.
  8. So Francisco Mejia (top 100 Cleveland catching prospect) was the headliner in the Lucroy deal along with three other prospects who I don't believe were on any top 100 lists. Mejia is putting together a nice season in high A, so not the short term answer if the Twins want more C help now, but is a very nice prospect.
  9. Kirilloff is going to be making a top 100 case if he keeps hitting like this. Wonder when he sees Cedar Rapids. Wood bat transition clearly isn't a problem here.
  10. I'm with you Tobi, I don't buy the "get an NL team to bite." yeah, the NL can drop your ERA by a half a run, which might make Nolasco a bit more serviceable in the NL, but hardly one worth giving up a lot. If the Twins got something for him, or quite frankly just managed to get rid of the contract for nothing, I would be pretty happy.
  11. well, they got four players in that deal, so I'm guessing there's some upside there. Sets the market on Suzuki a bit. Probably won't see a top 100 (though for some reason I thought one of those guys was one), but perhaps a couple higher ceiling A ball guys. Not necessarily a bad get.
  12. Given Hughe's injury, I wouldn't count on him pitching at all in 2017, but if he does, I suspect he's brought along slowly and starts out in the pen. He likely gets another shot when one of the kids falter (which will happen I'm sure).
  13. I think the Twins get more if they take on more risk, but by picking up a near ML ready pitcher sitting in AAA with some quasi-decent upside, they pretty much priced that out. That isn't a bad outcome in my opinion, especially if it means an all out push in 2017 to go young and upside in their rotation.
  14. was just called up.. and I doubt he gets flipped for a reliever.
  15. I'd send both of these guys packing. Would make happy to see those reclamation projects flipped instead of being held on to. Plus, we have guys in Chargois and Melotakis who really need to just get some MLB innings as well as a guy in Hildenberger who is deserving of a promotion.
  16. If someone will give up something for Milone, I'm pretty much ready to get the deal done. Tommy could have been had for free a two months ago when he got DFAd. I don't see how it is that someone will suddenly give up something of value to acquire his services... If they do, I'll be very happy to eat some crow here... I just don't see it happening.
  17. Rosario is the only name on that that potentially surprises me. Do you think his value is peaked? I'd probably leave Vargas alone. I'd argue he's got tremendous upside. I'd want to get Park back up, and moving Mauer to RF would essentially do that. You don't need to trade Vargas at that point either. I have to admit though that Clevinger looks like a pretty solid 2/3 type guy. The Nolasco trade is pretty creative. I'll give you that. Not sure I see the cards moving Alacantra for a reliever. So humor me. Why add Hlidenberger's contract when Melotakis is on the 40 man already? I'd probably bring up Mason and promote Hildenberger to AAA. He'd be a candidate for next year's team, but no reason would I risk having to burn an option this quick if he didn't pan out right away.
  18. There should be return (and a nicer one than Nunez I might add), so no, I don't pull the trigger on Hoey/Jacobson. But to answer the question, I trade him b/c I think Escobar is a decent SS, Polanco should be an above average 2B, Polanco is under control for a long time, Dozier is under control for 2 more years, one of which will at best be a pretender team. You get the return for him b/c 2 more years of Dozier muddles Polanco's development and really doesn't help this team's short term outlook enough to justify keeping him.
  19. I think his age relative to the leagues he has played in says a lot. He's almost always been more than a year younger, and in the PCL right now, he is more than 3 years younger. Those are the types of guys that can continue to improve and potentially out perform their MILB numbers. This was a pretty good pickup. We can debate if he's top 100 or not, but I think borderline top 100 is very reasonable here. It was a good pickup. I'd much rather run him out there every 5th day in 2017 over Milone. Much more upside.
  20. Ideally, we trade Dozier and put Polanco in at 2nd. I'm not too terribly concerned though if the team decides to move Polanco around this season to get him PT. He needs at bats more than anything else. I just don't want to see him getting the same treatment he got the last time he was up.
  21. Might mean a guy like Nolasco gets the DFA... one can hope right?
  22. Moderator note, tone down the bickering.
