  1. I got it too, but I did have to scratch my head, a furl my brow!
  2. I am one of them "prospect lovers"! But one who does not expect the prospect to turn a team around. That was the job of the mid level veteran who wasn't able to, and won't be able to make any significant contribution. Not do I expect the prospect to be wildly successful, just to get some acclimation, and hopefully have a group of them come together in the future for some long term success! Even after 4 years of ineptitude, I am not willing to settle for short term mediocrity!
  3. I remember the days when a PH was a feared respected veteran who would cause trepidation in the opposition! Not uncontrollable giggling!
  4. Don't ban Dave! Stick A Fork in Him!
  5. As Mike said, "And, Duensing was bad last year. He's worse this year. I don't get why they should give him more leash.....I put it on the GM because, as far as we know, he's the one that sets the roster" . And gives arb to players that have no upside or are any better than in house milb players.
  6. And you top it off with "SS kicking a routine DP ball" and you have the Twins offense in a box!
  7. Santana in CF? The Twins still need a SS. Not another utility player. On top of that, Santana was very mundane out there. He was mostly given a pass because he was playing out of position. Nunez is a disaster waiting to happen. Santana has his flaws, but also is athletic, has a big arm, and has a chance to improve. The bullpen? I wouldn't give up on Tonkin just yet. Graham I would keep, preferably by trade, and in AAA. He has some stuff. Oliveras would be a start, but he is another of those unexplained players who the Twins refuse to use. I always think you can't become a AAAA player until you have had a chance to make yourself one.
  8. It's a well known scientific fact that it's the gas vapors that burn. Ok, so maybe it's not well know, and I am not sure if it's scientific? But I think I read it on Wikipedia. Or somewhere......
  9. This was not the first throw Hunter has made that not only missed a base, it missed the entire infield. This one almost hit a light rail car.
  10. Yes, I remember the time the handle on our crank phone broke at home. We had to drive over to the neighbor to let her know we were going to mow lawn, and then go to the store! .
  11. This could be one of the greates comments ever! It should hang in every congress, bar, church, bedroom, and be the new Golden Rule!
  12. Y2K was really only important to people selling Y2K seminars and mouse pads!
  13. I think we had to win one out of two in Boston at the end of the year, and lost both.
  14. to make this team a real contender, not just a pretender that got fat playing a string of below .500 teams, you will need way more than one middle reliever! At least two productive sticks, and a catcher. We have the prospects to trade for those rent-a-players, that would make us a 50/50 contender. And then what???
  15. Are you sure those are not vultures circling the Twins batters?
  16. The difference between Mother's Day and Father's Day: Mother's Day is when dad takes the kids so Mom can have some quality time to herself! Father's Day is when dad takes the kids, so they can have some quality time with their Dad!
  17. Does anyone know why in the world he was starting? Was it due to a temporary roster situation? Or is it just another bad idea, gone bad? Btw, I have heard about the Twins looking for power arms in the draft.
  18. I am not a huge fan of rebuttals. But. Your first paragraph precludes an honest appraisal of your teams chances. Pretending is fine for the fans, it sells tickets. But if the team beliefs its own hype, their decision making, ie, being buyers instead of sellers in July becomes flawed and harmful. As for the power to tell the future, that could be called evaluation. And the belief that you will lose either way can be called realism. This doesn't mean you have to desire to lose, but it does mean you have to accept the fact that it will likely be the result of either course you chart. In that case, I would choose the opportunity to put together a long term competitive team vs a team that's claim to fame is having played meaningful games in late August!
  19. I would like to watch Sale pitch every 5th day. And I would like to watch Sano bat every day. A reason to trade for Sale is the current Twins staff is over performing. There is going to be a staff regression. Which is a reason to keep Berrios. A reason to keep Sano is June 2015. With the exception of Thursday's two home run outburst, runs have been mostly gifted to the team. They need some sticks. One thought: if you are of the belief that Sano can not move Plouffe, trade him for Sale tomorrow along with ?) Because in essence you are getting Sale for less than Trevor Plouffe! Now that's a great deal!
  20. I know Buxton is struggling mightily, and I would have no objection to him going back if Hicks comes back on schedule and his struggles continue. But, watching some of the younger Cubs players I saw similar problems with what to swing at. Pitches over their heads. Balls in the dirt, they swung at everything. My point, we have two choices here. Lose with mediocre no upside talent, or lose with young talent which either is the future, or should be. With the former you know what the future will be. With the latter you have a chance to improve significantly, but not likely until next year. Hitting in the major leagues is very very difficult. See Cuddyer, Dozier, Plouffe, Hunter, Morneau, Gomez, and Ortiz. There are very few Mauer's and Trouts. And even Trout did not stick the first time.
  21. It is a,aging how much more effective our offense is when the other team makes 2-3 errors!
  22. Our catcher would have picked him off also, I know he would have, at least I am pretty sure he might have, I think!
  23. I was to the one in Mew Orleans during Mardi Gras, but I don't remember it! . But if I remember right they served alcohol!
  24. we had a catcher on our amateur team who had "the yips". The last throw he ever made as a catcher on a steal of second, was caught by the right fielder. Great arm, poor accuracy!
