  1. I was pretty sure it would not be Buxton. I don't agree, but that's the way we roll. The oft mentioned 40 man will of course be the reason. Btw, I had to look who Shaefer was. He flew under my radar. Any chance they called up anyone to replace Robbie?
  2. ........night after night and day after day it went on and on...........
  3. Schaefer went to that famous baseball factory, California polytechnic institute of something or the other. It's like Trump U, only they have actual professors!
  4. Breaking news. Pat Light optioned to Rochester, minutes after signing 4 year extension!
  5. Morris is making a point valid to most players, and quite possibly one of the biggest flaws in TwinsWorld! Players are what they are, eventually. They might have one good year, but not several strung together. We seem to view players like that, even 30 year olds, as guys moving forward, not as an outlier year. (I now return you to The State Fair)
  6. And the runner tried to help on the SF, but DanSan missed the plate by 20 ft, and then Suzuki missed the catch just as Bautista went past.
  7. I would put it on Grossmann, not being able to hear who called what. He did a nice Square out at the fence, and ran into DanSan who had a bead on the ball.
  8. uh, and who was making the throw?
  9. There can't be anyone left who think R G is even a 4th OF anymore. Ugh
  10. The only real delicacy at the Great GetTogether is fresh greasy chees curds. The real kind, not cheap bar imitations. Mini donuts and bags of French fries have there place also, but I will stand in line for cheese curds!
  11. Battered, and on a stick!
  12. I would go for it! No one would remember the Hindenburg, the Titanic, or Walter Mondale without each ones singular achievement.
  13. So are you suggesting we should watch the games while sitting on a bag of frozen peas? Frankly I think Chiefs jokes are numbing enough.
  14. From Chief: "?........changes aren't strategic, but reactionary. Square pegs keep being pounded into round holes." This could summarize the entire philosophy of the Twins orginisation from top to bottom. i.e., we just signed a DH from Korea by mistake, what the hell do we do with Sano?
  15. When considering a regime change, I had not considered all the old guard. Kelly, Tony O, Carew, Gardy, et al. There is no doubt that these guys know some baseball, and have their own core set of fundamentals. So what happens to them. If a new FO comes in with new ideas, do they stay? Or are they considered a "threat" to a different orginisational direction? This is not meant to be about right, wrong, or knowledge. This is simply a question about a change in atmosphere.
  16. Not everything this team does is bad. Not everything this team does is good. It's possible to give them credit for Dozier and want to punch them in the face for Buxton. . It is possible. And frankly I have never heard Dozier credit Bruno specifically. Nor do I dispute that he did. I have heard numerous references to the aforementioned Willingham comparison. And you ar correct, there is no doubt that Twins coaches have helped some players improve. Simply the law of averages would guarantee those results. Nor do I think that the coaching staff does not know fundamentals. Simple exposure to baseball over 50 years guarantees that also. I would say that somewhere, somehow, they are not getting the message across on a consistent basis. Bottom line, I tend to look at the body of the work, and no matter what individual one uses for an example, there will be an opposite take on said example. And we have ours. And will again!
  17. D-Mac referenced Willingham, as the first true pull hitter the Twins have had. I don't know that that is completely accurate, but he is one of the first or the first in TF. And there is more than one report that Doziers approach evolved from Willinghams success in 2012. There is no history whatsoever of the Twins teaching or advocating pure pull hitting. But this thread isn't about pull hitting, Dozier or Willingham. It's about what happened to the Twinkies. And something is. Or should I say, several are. And all we can do from the outside, is read between the lines of things said by players and commentators in unguarded moments. And compile them. Like the overheard two scouts at a MiLB game concerning dropped velocity by an acquired player. "Because he's with the Twins". Is that loss of velocity accurate, or the statement verifiably true? Not sure, but the sentiment seems prevailing. There's many others, I am not going to try and remember or type each one. But you don't have to read between any lines to see that the players coming up to the majors are not ready. Are they all rushed? Not really. Many have suitable MiLB stats that indicate they are ready to move. But the failure rate here is too high. If you have not been taught cut off plays, how to bunt, how to avoid a first to second DP, then what else weren't you prepared from? I don't know if it's attitude, or the personalities of players drafted or what. But the Twins seem to have a "deer looking into the headlights" feel to them. They have since forever. Since the Yankees and Red Sox abused them to now when their best prospects come up here looking like Indy league players. Something is definitely missing down on the farm!
  18. ...........night after night and day after day it went on and on.......
  19. We lost to a team with players name Melvin Upton Jr. And Bo Schultz? And we countered with Kepler and Kuentzler (sp)? If we had played Grossman, our Germans might have prevailed!
  20. Actually more than that. Like NORAD, we keep a plane in the air at all times between Rochester and Mpls, with at least one reliever on board at all times!
  21. Of course they aren't spending that amount of money for giggles! Nor do I care how much they spend. Money doesn't make good decisions, people do. I don't think anyone here wants them to fail. I certainly don't. The last 21 years have removed any possibility of giving them the benefit of the doubt. And that fact scares many. They get this wrong, and with the history of loyalty in this orginisation, you'll be waving that pitchfork while you are on social security!
  22. I did not know she was from Texas, nor an NBA fan? You wanna go get a beer while they go to the game?
  23. Well all except the perennial all star part!
