  1. In retrospect you quite possibly missed the most appropo analogy between the Twins, and the local fair. Stock car races. Both are events where family and crew members go with an interest in the event and participants. But for the general public, while outwardly advocating an interest in the outcome of the contest, most watch in anticipation an almost assured disaster. While no one wants to see anyone injured, morbid curiousity prevails! And like a stock car race, a Twins game always possesses the likelihood of objects flying into the stands, and like a stock car race, the people in the infield often appear to be merely spectators!
  2. This is the TD! There is no optimism. There is only wishful thinking, interspersed with bits of gallows humor! There are a few who put forth a faux happy face, but they are dwindling faster than our chance for the second WC slot!
  3. Molitor has some difficult decisions to make. Which LF is least likely to run into our SS? Which CF charges the catchers overthrows the most agressively. Which 1B is most able to corral a wide variety of baseballs thrown in the general vicinity of the 1B dugout! And most important, will the plane from Rochester land in time?
  4. Great start. My only question is in the choice of a cigarette vs a hand rolled smoke of a more pungent variety! Although I will admit that watching the Twins will put you in the same lethargic state, totally devoid of any passion except possibly chocolate chip cookies, and that feeling when you wake up in the morning that it was all a dream. That said, the FDA strongly advises against using multiple mind altering substances at the same time!
  5. At one time, I would have had a list of untouchable players, mostly prospects. But I have begun to wonder if the entire roster of players at all levels has to be on the table to straighten this out. One of the following two statements have to be true to explain the pitching, and possibly the development of field prospects as well. A) The Twins scouting and drafting depts are absolutely clueless, and have managed to draft high, and fail. The coaching staff has no idea how to develop promising talent into MLB players. You can be a around the bush, and make excuses against either argument, but the bottom line is its almost impossible to achieve this level of futilely, for this long, and this consistently!
  6. Surely you realize I knew that know you were.
  7. THANK YOU! Two bad execs, do no a good one make.
  8. The obvious solution: Ladies and Gentlemen, your new Pres. of Baseball Operations, Paul Molitor!
  9. They tried to change Dozier, and basically he told them to bleep off. But he has done this: he hits the first good pitch he sees. No working the count. He has learned to lay off the away stuff, he may hit a rare one, but he is still all pull. Just watch where the catchers set up, not where the pitch ends up. I have nothing against going the other way with a pitch at all, to me is whether you make a player so paranoid over an issue, it subtracts from his strengths. As for Plouffe? If he's a poster boy for the teams ability to develop players, the bar is set too low!
  10. The latest example might be Santiago, and his BB issue.
  11. Very good observation. Even a guy wit a 40 arm or glove can throw to the right base, or be in position for the cutoff. Those are not physical gifts.
  12. They weren't invited, it was about the pitchers!

  14. ............night after night and ay after day it went on and on...........
  15. The good news is my grandchildren prevented me from watching the last two games! The bad news is I don't have enough grandchildren to cover the rest of the schedule!
  16. ............ night after night and day after day it went on and on.........
  17. Your astute comment seems to have gone unnoticed by all but the most astute thread participant!
  18. Time in Canada is metric!
  19. I am sure you do miss Baywatch! It was a show you could have on without the sound, and not miss any of the plot!
  20. I am sure you do miss Baywatch! It was a show you could have on without the sound, and not miss any of the plot!
  21. So what about Turner. I have always heard he was an MLB ready catcher defensively? And that Garver was a much better hitter, and not quite the catcher? Is Garvers glove and arm equal to Turners? I have saw what Suzukis arm does for a defense, and Centenos glove does for a pitcher. Please tell me one of these guys can catch and throw. Then tell me if he can hit.
