    I have no idea if Meyer makes it or not, either as a reliever or starter. But I am pretty sure of one thing. If he does, the blame is clearly on the FO, and I might add the coaching staffs. The reason I am so specific, is that Alex Meyer wasn't some fly below the radar guy. He was a highly visible piece of a big trade. And if in five years they can't get him tuned up, and LA can in 3 months? The juries still out, but even if it takes LA into the end of next year to get a serviceable pitcher out of him.............. A small note on negativity here. It doesn't come from Alex Meyer, or Nolasco, or Rosario, or the plethora of AAAA players paraded through here in the last few years. It comes from the sum of all those parts. Any team can screw up an Alex Meyer. But few can do it with such consistency.

    Dick just suggested that pitchers coming up could be told to cut the velocity for control. I wonder where he ever heard that?

A winning streak begins with the third consecutive victory; back-to-back wins are only considered two consecutive victories. A winning streak can be held by a team, as in baseball, football, basketball, hockey, or by an individual, as in tennis.

    Without last nights complete meltdown by the Sox with men on base the Twins had a chance to make history tonight. Now? Just another night at the park.

    It's becoming obvious that a Twins winning streak will look very similar to slow pitch softball.

    In a discussion with one of my daughters, she informed me with a certain amount of smugness that Michael Jackson was the King of Pop! Which I agreed was a significant achievement. Which of course pales when compared to Elvis, simply called "The King"!

    Pardon me if I misinterpret here, but you don't trade for FA. And frankly, our true prospects are just getting their feet wet. Most of them less than a year. Look at the timeline KC had to get theirs going, it was around two full years, or more. As for pitching, you have to give up something to get something. Yes, Sano or Buxton might yield in the Dozier neighborhood. Then we can watch them in another city for 5 years, and watch Dozier somewhere else in two. Brian Dozier is a valuable player to the right team, at the right time. This is not that situation. If and when this team reaches maturity, it will (sadly) be 2018. Dozier will be 32, and likely his best years behind him. Just once, sell high with a plan for the future, and by future I don't mean simply next year.

    I have read several posts here, and in other threads that this teams offense is set? Which by implication means it's defense must also be. You are not going to win anything significant with this defense. Now, I don't call struggling to squeeze into the second WC for a one and done significant. As for offense? Offensive baseball is a streak of 7 runs, then a streak of 2 runs. The bottom line, over a season, is that good pitching beats good hitting. Trade Dozier, Plouffe, and Santana for the best you can get in the areas of MI, C, SP. and move on from the "rebuild" of the Plouffe Dozier Suzuki era.

    I have this nagging suspicion that the Twins are going to ruin the evening with an unexpected victory. They have a team record, within their grasp. Hopefully they sieze the moment !
