  1. If Rosario can stay at 2nd base, he has a legit case for top five in the system. When was the last time we had an everyday 2nd baseman? Nevermind a second baseman who can hit over .250. Saying all of that, I put him at 6, ahead of pitching prospects Berrios, Gibson, and May. It will be interesting to see where the two newcomers to the system rank as well. I have a feeling a lot of fans will wishfully put May and Meyer higher than they probably should be.
  2. I cannot wait until we get into the 15 range. This is going to be exciting. Some people might have a Joe Benson rated in top 10 while others who value relievers may have a JT Chargios in the top 15. Talking about prospects really keeps our minds off the big boy club, which is going to be the best it has been in 3 years, yet still lose 90 games. Go Red Wings and Miracle!!
  3. So are we going to vote through ten? Is their anyway we could go through and create a ranking like system of a top 10 or even 20, 30. Rank your top 20. Number 1 gets 20 points and number 20 gets 1 point. Could this be done in a poll way or would we have to start a thread and create our own system?
  4. Easily the dumbest thread on this site...a site that included 258 pages full of slama junk. In a fantasy baseball league this stuff happens but not in the real world of baseball. IF this would ever happen that team would never sign a free agent again. And bourn will get a 10 to 15 mil deal for a one year make good contract. Not 4.
  5. Times New Roman??? Really?
  6. I'm glad you changed that because I was ready to show you some math. A 100 would then have a payroll of 800-900 million dollars a year. Wins above replacement makes more sense.
  7. Worley, Diamond, Pelfrey, Correria, other. This is a much better Rotation than last years, yet still probably a bottom five in the Majors rotation. Kind of puts into perspective how bad things were last year. I disagree with greengoblinrulz that this is a 95 loss team. I think it is closer to a .500 team right now. There is still alot of money available and if TR can woo a Marcum or Jackson type, this is a pretty descent ballclub. Gibson could start in AAA or bullpen and take over for Pelfrey or Correria later in the year, which would bulster our bullpen. I like what TR is doing. He is not overspending on guys and vastly improved the team. I still see another addition to MI and a SP. Not great but butter than average.
  8. I openly like that they are frugal IF they now keep there studs for big money. Even then you see some bad deals with long deals ie Morneau. But with new stadium revenue imagine how the last four years would have been with hunter and santana And punto
  9. Mlbtraderumors.com quoted the sox gm as saying "we are working on another player." Now that could be any player but...I know a similar player to napoli that is a huge upgrade and has the prospects to make that mammoth deal happen. Just saying
  10. Lost alot of respect for him after that article
  11. I think the top 10 for the Twins is going to be debateable on the order, but not on who makes it. After number 10, it becames a literally crapshoot. Tools vs. production. I like Nate Roberts and think he is a top-15 guy after a strong showing in the Arizona Fall League. I also would probably have some of those bullpen arms a little higher because they are almost sure fire major leaguers (Chargios and Corey Williams, etc.), but it all depends on how you rank. To pick 60 guys is kind of a tall order, especially in such a top heavy system like the Twins.
  12. This is hilarious and only slightly in bad taste. My wheels are turning.
  13. Sounds like this shuts the door on Annibal Sanchez...damn
  14. Can we admit its less gross than if our first signing would have been liriano or pavano?
  15. Doesnt bother me unless this is the last pitcher added...then yikes. Hopefully 200 innings as a 4
  16. I wonder if he prefers his players to not use batting gloves?
  17. Not a vikes fan but in north east north dakota you seem to watch alot of vike games. In all honesty...is adrian peterson the best running back of all time? No joke. I saw him in favres last year...best ever
  18. O my. The only thing that Trout and Benson have in common is that they are white and outfielders...that is where the comparisons stop. Mike trout should sue for libel from this story. Dumb.
  19. Absolutely. Except for Joe. The Royals, in my opinion, just got much better. I have read alot of things that said they just got a 3-4 win player and possibly a 1-2 win player, therefore they only added 5 wins from last years team in this deal. Can the WAR stat be any dumber than it already is? I think this does wonders for your team. Shields will be a much better pitcher than they had last year. Every 5 days the team will have an even better chance to win, not to mention the bullpen will get more rest...a drickle down effect if you will. I think the Royals will be legit this year with this deal and the others yet to come (Still could sign another mid-tier free agent). We needs to blow this thing up big time. Hold on to Mornie and Hammer until the all-star break and see what you can get. A right handed and left handed powerbat should get a pretty big hall before the allstar break. The draft should bring another top-level talent into the system (probably a pitcher, but a MI wouldn't be terrible)...the team is going to lose another 100 games next year so that will also bring another top draft pick. We should be loading the system so that by 2016 WE could be like the Rays and turn our guys into more stellar prospects. I like the trade for both teams as the Royals will be back for the first time since George Brett was roaming the corners (Joe Mauer could be our Gerge Brett at 1st, just saying). You keep Mauer around for the duration of the contract to keep people in the seats. Also, how sneaky are those Rays. They are the piranhas. I'm sure they could have used Sheilds this year but they got back a future all-star who will behind a perrenial MVP candidate for the next 6-7 years. The Rays are what we should aim for. They are the smartest/luckiest team in baseball. Sure, Tim Beckam didn't work out but the majority of their moves do. I bet they wait until July to bring Myers up to get another year of service from him. The savvyness is off the charts.
  20. of the 3 who had a higher obp? Ben , Span or Carroll? and Mastroanni was .003 less then Revere also i wondered if Rick Ankiel was a cheap insurance option ? To pitch right?
  21. I want to pay the all but 3 million dollars to Texas, in return, I want Profar or Andrus, Perez who is a stud who pitcher who is left handed and start for us day 1, and the Jorge Alfaro kid (catcher in low minors). This would be a hull of epic proportions. If we could pull that off, let Butera catch and wait for that Afaro kid to get the majors. If everyone sticks at positions they are at in the minors, we are talking about the best offensive infield in the league. Profar at short, Rosario at 2nd, Sano and Harrison at 1st and 3rd. Possibly an outfield of Hicks, Arcia, and Buxton, and a pitching staff of Meyers, May, Gibson, Berrios, Diamond/Perez/Wimmers/'13 number 4 overall pick Profar SS Rosario 2nd Sano 3rd/1st Harisson 1st/3rd Alfaro (2015/2016) C Byxton CF Hicks LF Arcia RF Punto DH? Rotation: Meyers Gibson Perez Berrios Diamond Bullpen: JT Chargios Mays (Closer potential) If everyone reaches their full potential, which I know is absurd, this is a World Series lineup. We might be talking about trading Hicks to a team in need of a CF in another 4-5 years for whatever position needed (you can never have too much pitching I believe is the cliche)
  22. Lets say its 88 games like last year... The Twins won 66 last year. Just 16 more wins and you are 82-80 and that puts you in contention. If you are in contention. Deadline deals can be made to improve the squad... The team will play with more competitiveness. Everything can change. 16 more wins... That's one more win every ten games... If anyone thinks that isn't do-able... They lack something or haven't really put it in perspective. I would love to be wrong on this, but I don't think that this is likely, considering that there are only two decent starters on board, a pretty big hole in CF, a weak middle infield, and no great defenders in the outfield. I think that it is more likely that the Twins will lose 90+ games next year. The off-season isn't even CLOSE to over yet. The Twins still have a ton of money they can spend. It's really pointless to start playing the whole "how many games will the Twins win next year:" when they still have 3+ months to fill the rest of the roster. 2 decent starters in the rotation is one more then we had 95% of last year, so there is a start! Easy to be an ahole at 3 in the morning vodkadbag. I agree it is early to get down on offseason but your tone is unneeded.
  23. Great article about Figgins, really turned out to be a versatile asset to the Mariners.
  24. Is this a sign that Anniballsy is next?
  25. I think Gibby is already in the works as a nickname. The rest will have to try a few and see what sticks. Mayzie hasn't been used for about 10 years so that would be ok with me. For Berrios I would hypothesize "Berries." Meyers could possibly drop the "R" and pronounce it "Meyzi."
