Chris Parmelee is a first baseman who doesn't have 40 hr/yr ability. Wil "one L" Myers may be able to stick in the outfield and has legit plus Raw and Plus Plus bat...no contests. (Yes I have been reading a lot of baseball prospectus and yes I now talk like a scout in my posts).

I will say this, Chone was a Twins killer when he was with the Angels. The guy must have been on base 8 out of 10 times, and then would get 8 steals out of 8 tries. When he was a free agent, I remember one the old guys I work with(a twins fanatic) wouldn't shut up about trying to sign him. If I recall, he signed that now laughable deal in Seattle, and we ended up with Joe "no disk" Crede. In the end, they both sucked. At least Joe was a one year no chance guy.

Thought they had the best bullpen in the NL. But yeah, MLBtraderumors said they'd trade a shortstop for a closer or leadoff hitter. My bad. Thanks for being a dick about it. That said, I'd be ok with trading Perkins for an everyday shortstop. Agreed. Doesnt make sense and no need to badger someone because u post alot and took a picture with DeNard one time

What about Mauers contract? This should not count toward the budget the Pohlad's give TR. The deal was lucrative and handcuffing but it had to be done. They are making money on Mauer but I don't think his deal should be counted towards the payroll flexibility the team has. If you take out at least 15 million of that deal and put it in different category, the team should have $85 million to play with not counting that 15 mil...making the teams payroll about $100 million dollars. The Pohlad's need to put forth at least $100 million dollar payroll or we will start calling them the Loria's (Marlin's owner) and stop filling up that beautiful stadium WE paid for.

I don't think TR could get away with a winter lik that. The fans would not allow it. I personally like TR and think he is a damn good gm, but I do wish we would have gone a different direction for this fact alone: TR is going to try to build a winner next year. I do not think it is possible with the bunch we have right now. The pitching staff is the worst in the league and adding high price free agents will only hurt the teams future (unless we sign four studs). I think David St. Pierre (who never gets included in the three stooges argument for some reason), needs to bring in someone else to clean house and build for 2014. No way do I trade a proven MLB body like Mornie, Span, or Willingham, for someone who isn't going to be under team control until 2016. I'm talking prospects, loads and loads of prospects. Build the best farm system in the game. I know what some of you are saying, the KC Royals did that and look at how they have done with the best farm system for half a decade. True, I get that. But my argument would be the same argument Democrats used to have about universal gov't run health care: We can do it better than them because we are the US. In other words, we have better development and we have been relevant more recent than they have. We can follow the Rays vision. Suck for a few years, bring prospects along slowly, nail your top draft picks, sign people before they get too good to sign, and be a perennial contender. The best thing is, we have more payroll flexibility once we get to where they are at. Another counter argument: "If you rebuild, you are wasting Mauers prime years rebuilding." To answer that I have nothing. Sure it sucks, but the last two years have sucked. We have added nothing new to the farm system while sucking, than we would have had we been winning. So you mind as well try to build a contender while we still have Mauer in 2016. To sum up: REBUILD THE FARM SYSTEM AT THE EXPENSE OF THE MLB TEAM!!!

The only thing smith has to fall back on is his international signings. But for a guy like sano...there is a nishioka to balance the scale...or tip it to the point of not reassessing his time as gm. Then u have capps...trading jj hardy, trading johan for a bucket of balls...the list goes on. Maybe well thank him when buxton is a hall of famer for it was his foresight to create a terrible tewm so we could have a high pick...the man is a genious

The Indians need a CF and we need a shortstop. I know that we need pitching and many Twins Daily members want Span to bring back a big leaguer. But this deal would be great for us. Cabrera makes 6.5 this year and 10 mil in '14. A solid bat at SS with gold glove defense...This would be a hard deal for TR and company to turn down. What do you think?

One thing about the list being full of position players is that Relievers general do not rank very high. Yes there are 25 men on a roster, but only 5 of those 12-13 pitchers are starters. I feel like some of our power arms in the low minors will be very good relievers. A guy like Chargios doesn't rank as high, even though the chances of him making an impact at the Majors level is higher than a toolsy outfielder who will be ranked high. Melotakis is a guy who also may be a reliever but will not be ranked high for taht fact alone. Saying that I do agree we need to add some starting pitching prospects to our farm system. Hopefully Alex Wimmers can come back and give us another arm we can rank in the top 10 next year.

Paid 4.95 just to read this article. Awesome. Though the forecast for next year seems bleak, in the eyes of baseball prospectus. Even more of reason to punt on next season and trade todays stars for tomorrows.

Now we have to go out and find another pitcher via free agency or trade. Y didnt we sign him,? I would have given him 6 mil plus incentives...this winter has barely begun i know, i just hope this isnt a sign of wbat is to come

Haha, I called him out for not listing any twins players in a recent post about available outfielders. I said it was ''dumb" to not list span. He actual wrote back saying he doesnt think it will happen because arcia and hicks arent ready for majors next year. Then he said i shouldnt call people dumb. Then i told him he was dumb because they would trade span to open up a spot for parmalee AND because of the depth in the minors artcenter field. True story...he isnt a twins fan by my estimation of his stories.

The Werth deal was a terrible deal. I remember thinking that it was when it happened, and I still think it today. In fact, I thought it would hinder the Nationals for years. Turns out I was wrong as the Naionals are still spending money and might have the brightest future of any team in the Majors.
