  1. What do you mean by high competitive postion?
  2. Geez, I know it is only 7 dollars, but put yourself in someone else's shoes. Some of us may not be able to own a computer, some of us may have to use other avenues to read these blog posts, such as internet cafe's or libraries. Not everyone is born with a golden spoon in their mouth. Just because we are twins fans doesn't mean we are all middle class Americans with expandable income... I respect the person who has donated these handbooks and God bless you. Also, if you get a reciept, I would make sure to write that off on your taxes, just a thought.
  3. Is there a discount for twinsdaily.com members? How about poor first year teachers?
  4. Dude, calm down. You must have forgotten the past decade when we were in the playoffs damn near every year. All you can ask for is a chance to play in the playoffs and see what happens. We had good enough teams to compete with the Yankees and the Red Sox (who have shown how spending so much money is not ALWAYS good), we just did not. I agree with not trading away top level prospects, and so should you. Why trade away farm players in an off-season, when you could go into the next season and STILL be a 90 loss team.
  5. AND he is not a huge raging D-bag like Valencia was.
  6. He hit 20 hr's in half a season. I think he can be a 25-30 type guy when healthy. His defense is above average (better than MVP Cabrera) and may swipe some bases. He is plenty solid enough to hold the fort down until Sano's name is called. Then he will be an even better bench player/trade bait.
  7. Should be no debate...Josh Willingham is the right handed power bat we have needed for over a decade. If we would have had the hammer back in 2010, we would have beat the Yankees and possibly been in the World Series. Doumit overproduced and stayed healthy, but come on. 35 hr's and over 100 rbi. The guy is a beast. He will also pull some serious prospects when we suck at the deadline next year. Doumit would be a better bench player on a good team than an everyday guy on a bad one.
  8. Plouffe is plenty good enough to hold down the fort until the "Chosen One" can make his way up. This is still 3-4 years away so give Plouffe a shot, we aren't going to win any games in the next two seasons anyway
  9. Haha, wwent to that place after the Twins game at Target last year. The Twins had won and the Gophers were at home playing the USC Trojans...what was on you ask? Rugby, fricken Rugby. We asked to turn the channel, and they refused because people were actually watching it. What a joke, we had to go somewhere else to watch the home team...about a mile away, play a top 5 team who is the most important team in the nation. Needless to say we left and got drinks at a different establishment, can't remember which one, but it's downtown.
  10. Isn't it crazy how we give him a pass, yet we hate on Knoblauch?
  11. I think you are right about hicks, buxton, and sano. Hicks will probably be in the 40-60 range in my opinion. Rosario should also make it as should Arcia IMO. But I don't think both get in. We talk about these guys on an almost daily basis so we can become a little bias. Best case scenerio, all seven of the guys you mention make it. JO Berrios may need another solid year at Low A before these sites (magazines) start ranking him in the top 100. Kyle Gibson, imo, no shot. Too little of a sample size after coming back from an injury. He will never make the list because he may be in the Majors next year and lose his rookie status. Good article.
  12. Prediction: the twins will sign a pitcher and most Twins fans (including me) will have to google him to find out who the heck he is. I had to do it last year with Carrol and Marquis. Also, the more irrelavent the Twins become year in and year out, the less most of us care about baseball. I mean it is hard to watch game 115 between the Cubs and Pirates...who cares anymore. Baseball is too boring when the Twins don't play well.
  13. I agree with waiting until next season to Willingham. He should bring in more once a team realizes they NEED a right handed bat in their lineup. Span on the other hand should be traded this offseason. He has proven he is healthy at the end of this season. Another season of him being on the trading block will hurt him. It is unfair to both the team and him to constantly have these talks about trading him. Trade him for some pitching...good post joeboo. P.S. A middle infield guy is also something we need. That is a very, very distant second to pitching, but still something to explore.
  14. When I read this story I salivated like Pavlov's dog. An outfield of Hicks, Revere, and Buxton would be one of the fastest in history (assuming all kids reach most of their potential). Throw in Arcia as a fourth of/dh, and that is a something we can all get excited about. These are guys that could make our "pitch to contact" philosophy actually work. Go Twins!!
  15. When does this handbook come out and how do I get my hands on one?
  16. Sign him for 2 years at the 4-5 million mark. Worst case scenerio, he goes back to his injury woes and you are out 2 mil a year. This is a low risk/high reward type deal for a very good reliever. How much money did we give Pavano and Capps to sit on the DL for 120 games?
  17. Lets see that cutter...over/under 1 strikeout for the rest of his career?
  18. Baseball writers, who vote for the MVP, are not WAR guys. They are old and remember when Ted Williams and Honis Wagner played. The old school numbers are the most important thing. Wins for pitchers, HR's, RBI's and BA for MVP. Therefore, I think they are going to vote for Cabrera. If he wins the Triple Crown and the Tigers make the playoffs, I think it has to be Cabrera. Trout is good, and has the hype monster going for him. This is going to be a very tight race, with one man, one manchild, both deserving the nod.
  19. He needs to be used as a Nick Punto. No way should he be an everyday player at any position. His productivity this year is below average, and the dude is going to be 40. He is going to slip. His defense is OK, better than the younger guys, but average in relativity to the rest of the league. IMO, we will sign/trade for a shortstop or second baseman next year. Dozier/Floriman/Escobar will start at the other postion, and Carrol will be a bench player, which he should be.
  20. I'd rather have Tom Kelly come back and manage. On an interm basis of course.
  21. You only trade Mornie if you can get a pitcher close to Major league ready AND you spend that 14+ million on another arm. WAR= 2 stud pitchers- Mornie finally coming back.
  22. First, you have a gift for story telling. I was intrigued throughout the whole article. Second, I threw up all over my desk and some of my students. The good news is I got to go home for being sick (wouldn't want those little one's to get sick). The bad news is I am probably going to hang myself after reading such a nightmarish story. How dare you? I had to check back at who wrote the stroy because I was sure R.L. Stein (Goosebumps) wrote the story.
  23. I think another year, even at 7 million which is cheap for his production, might hurt his trade value. The trade Willingham sentiment has died down recently because he has just kept producing, but we have to look at this team and see that he may get traded soon (my guess at the trade deadline next season). Does extending into a guys 37th birthday hurt or help his value? What do you think and more importantly, what does T-Ry think?
  24. \After reading it agian, no. I wasn't insunuating that you did either. The premise of the end of the article was whether or not he is worth extending this winter. You laid out both arguments. Your conclusion was spot on that he should not be extended. I found it to be such a good point, and the other side so absurd, that I had to comment on it. The sargastic, almost talk-down tone I used was directed towards the Willingham camp that says they would be open to talking about an extension. I am sorry if it looked like I was bashing you. Good article btw.
