  1. In the wake of losing the Carlos Correa sweepstakes, it appears other teams may smell blood in the water and are calling about starting pitchers Sonny Gray and Kenta Maeda. Should the Twins decide to start trading pieces for 2023, this could signal a massive mid-offseason pivot that is rare to see in baseball and probably unprecedented in the history of the Minnesota Twins organization. What do you think? Should the Twins pivot this drastically in a division that once again looks weak in 2023?
  2. Well, the Yankees are supposedly interested in Kepler, maybe the Twins get Kiner-Falefa back and 1 or 2 young P's in return. Also think we see Arraez as part of a deal for Lopez at this point.
  3. You saw a 13 year deal from another team coming last spring?? How did you not win the $$ Billion powerball??
  4. For a little perspective, Rod Carew played 12 seasons for the Twins, Kirby Puckett played his whole career, 12 seasons, for the Twins, and Joe Mauer played his whole career, 15 seasons, for the Twins. Correa has already played 8 seasons and has an injury history attached to him, don't see this contract as being very team friendly in about 5 years.
  5. Looks like Boras kept him on the market long enough for the Mets to join in. He isn't signing here,,,
  6. Opt outs are used to build value, Swanson's value is as high as it will ever be, so opt outs make zero sense for him.
  7. The biggest reason why Swanson is not Carlos Correa is arm strength, and it is the reason why he won't stick at SS. His arm strength was 48/50 among SS making 100 throws. Hell, it would have been 40/70 among 2B with 100 throws (.3 MPH stronger than Polanco, and we know he's not a SS). Some teams can afford $25 MM/yr at 2B, the Twins cannot, and with all the prospects, do not need to.
  8. Nah, the Marlins didn't like all the arthritis in Arraez's knee's.....
  9. I thought I saw the same thing!! Was driving me crazy that I couldn't find it again....

  11. I don't see SD trading Kim this off-season because Machado can, and probably will, opt out of his contract after next season. He could surprise everyone and elect to not opt out, like Arrenado, but Machado doesn't impress me as a team-first kind of guy.
  12. Rodon now wants 7 years and Bassitt wants 4 years. If you think Correa's contract will be dead weight after 4-5 years, these two will get there in half the time. This year has been crazy with all the long-term contracts, many of which will not look good as the player ages. Rodon for 5 years max and Bassitt for 2 or 3 with a vesting option and a mutual option would be more palatable.
  13. I'm not a big fan/believer of BTV, but those three for Lopez is a wash according to their assigned values.
  14. Justin Verlander just won a Cy Young at 39 after having TJ surgery and only making 1 start the previous 2 seasons, but his last good season was at 36..... By no means is Cole Hamels on the same level as Verlander, but I (almost) found the comparison you were looking for.

  16. In the current MLB, BA average means less than OPS or wRC. Analytics have de-valued the stats us older guys grew up looking at on the back of the baseball card....

  23. This! Players/agents can hold up the market all they want, but if a player doesn't get signed, then he and his agent can claim collusion.
