    Top 4 wRC, plus Kirilloff, who was 6th but only played 88 games, or not, none of Lewis (58), Wallner (76), Jeffers (96) and Julien (109) played more games than any of Farmer (120), Solano (134), Castro (124), Taylor (129) and Kepler (130). Only Taylor, 96 wRC, was below 100, so it's not like they didn't perform at or above league average. Doubling Wallner's numbers would have given the league more time to find and expose the holes in game, as the Blue Jays and Astros did in the play-offs (and I am a Wallner fan and understand he made adjustments throughout last season). Lewis, Julien and Jeffers all would have also regressed with more PAs as well. I am all for getting the young guys in the line-up, but without those veterans (Castro is only 26) to fill in during times of injuries and ineffectiveness, and RpR is right, the Twins would have been closer to battling Cleveland for 3rd than running away with the Central last season (the ChiSox and KC were horrible last season).

    What changed? His health. After 2 years of battling lower body injuries and 2 early season trips to the IL, both for lower body injuries, he came back healthy. He was able to drive the ball because he had his lower body healthy again. SSS alert; from June 1st until the end of the season, he slashed .283/.353/.514 (.867 OPS) with 18 HR and 52 RBI. If the return is good, trade him. Otherwise he is a better option than what's out there in FA and the trade talks can be revisited in July.

    I believe he would have to be included as part of a package of younger, more controllable players that many fans would be upset to see traded.

    There is a lot more blame to go around than just Wallner in the series loss to Houston. The team slashed .198/.308/.373; and just .150/.189/.290 if you remove Correa and Julien's stats. As I said, lots of blame to go around.

    I'll agree with the first part of that statement, but Wallner was far from overwhelmed. After struggling early in the season at the plate and in the field, he got called up for good on on July 17 and slashed .237/.354/.500 with 13 HR & 37 RBI in 65 games (32/92 over 162 games) and played passable defense in LF. To make the SSS even smaller, he slashed ,284/.411/.514 from September 1 until the end of the season with 4 HR 15 RBI in 26 games (25/93 over 162 games) and the team went 17-9.

    I would package Julien, Kepler, Larnach and low-level minor leaguer for Gilbert. Seattle fills 2B, covers the RF loss of Teoscar Hernandez, can maybe get Larnach on the right track (he's a west coast kid and played at Oregon State) and gets a throw in that may or may not pay out. Minnesota still has Polanco (and Farmer) to hold 2B down until Lee gets here mid-season, moves Kepler for salary relief, allows Larnach to possibly reach his potential (evidently not going to happen here) and fills out the rotation.

    Turnbull on a minor league deal. He might get other offers, but I think with some of the question marks in the Twins rotation he may see it as chance to improve his value. He and Varland can compete for the 5th spot in ST, with the other starting the year in St. Paul. None of the bats present a better option than what the team has internally. Maybe a ST invite for Meadows, to me he is the only hitter listed with any upside.. Other than that, I would rather bring back Maeda.

    Rowson's coaching career, like many of the players he coached, peaked in 2019. Let him ride that success as far as it will take him.

    I think Larnach, Wallner, Polanco and Jeffers should all get a 1B glove for Christmas and put in a lot of practice after receiving it. Julien and Miranda as well. Or they could re-sign Solano as none of the other FA 1B intrigue me. Well, maybe Hoskins, but his price will be too high

    Personally, I think it is very likely he will accept the qualifying offer and ultimately sign elsewhere. But I'm not as convinced as everyone that it's a total lock. I don't think that's how it works...

    Jiminez will be 29 in January, Pagan will be 33 in May. Similar numbers or not, Pagan is not getting the same contract.

    A QO is an overpay, especially for a pitcher who will be 36 shortly after opening day next season. That being said, according to FanGraphs, he has been worth $12+ MM every season of his career, so maybe 2 yrs $25 MM?

    Jeffers cannot be traded before a suitable replacement is in place, I don't want Vazquez behind the plate for 125+ games if 2023 is his norm. While Castro might fetch a better return, I would be more open to trading Gordon, Larnach & Miranda. 1 guy plays all positions covered by these 3 (except 1B) and 2 of them could be highly sought after by the right team(s). Free Trevor Larnach. He deserves a chance, but this FO does not seem willing to give it to him. Package him with Miranda and try to fill some needs.

    He didn't, the chart is pre-season projections. Jeffers. actual bWAR and fWAR were considerably higher than Vazquez.
