    Again, "I don't have anything to support it, but I think Bundy will be a huge positive for the Twins this year." It's opening day. It's a day for optimism!

    I like the concept. I will go out on a ledge here and say that Dylan Bundy should be - and will be - much higher. I've been higher than reasonable on him for years, figured, like Gausman, leaving Baltimore would help him. Had a decent strike shortened season but a disaster last year and his HR was silly bad. So I don't have anything to support it, but I think Bundy will be a huge positive for the Twins this year.

    There certainly are scenarios where this team can win the division - mostly by being an elite offense and the pitching staff not completely sucking - but I don't think this will happen.     I'm a bit lower on Rogers than most people on TD so I was ok moving him. Rooker wasn't going to fit in here, good luck to both in SD. I don't think this trade moves the needle much but we'll see. If they develop Paddack, great deal for the Twins. If they can't, we'll have a new FO soon enough.

    Larnich for Paddack + something else makes some sense. Paddack was a good prospect but has been iffy in the majors. Not sure I like a pitcher who struggled in SD coming to TF but ... He's a bit hitable but his walks and k rate are good.

    I'm a bit down on this class then I was a few years ago but it still has time. Agreed that COVID was a real problem. Hopefully they all do well.

    I'm sure it's nice for him but it probably doesn't mean all that much, especially the way starting pitching is changing in baseball. But I hope he's awesome for us.

    I don't mind the move, in a vacuum. But this pitching staff is really bad. Again, it has to be better than last year simply by accident but I have no idea how they are 1400 or so innings out of this group. I like Bundy more than most posters do and Gray is a real pitcher but this looks bad. That said, let's see what happens before the season starts. Archer in the pen with Montas in the rotation makes things a bit different.

    I'm not overly surprised. The standings have them 7th in the AL, which isn't an insane prediction by any means. We also benefit from playing the worst division again. The offense has the potential to be pretty good and an outside shot at really, really good, which I think is the reason so many of us are dumbfounded by decisions made by the FO. The pitching could easily sink the team again. I was a bit surprised the Tigers were so bad, I think they might be .500 this year but perhaps I'm wrong.

    Kiriloff for either A's pitcher would be an overpay considering the years of control left.

    Serious question, are Sanchez and Jeffers the only two catchers in the 40 man? Quick look at mlbpipeline and we don't have a single catcher in our top 30 prospects.

    I'm confused. I'll stop defending the FO. Sanchez only has one year of control, I guess. Urshela will be 30 and managed .6 WAR last year. He had one good year in 2019. I'm not sure that's worth betting on. We're worse off at C, SS, and 3B (and we lost depth) then just a few days ago. Of course, we've saved the Pohlads quite a bit of money, which might have been a big reason for this. I think I'll wait to see what happens in the next week or so but this is just strange.

    I disagree. Our core - Buxton, Kepler, Polanco, Sano, Donaldson, even Larnich, Arreaz and Jeffers are 25 or older. They are in "win-now" territory. It's the FO's job to keep this window open and add to it. They are doing that. I'm still worried about the pitching but a staff of Gray, Ryan, Bundy is a start. I'm sure they'll add more.

    Wow, two days in a row of me defending this FO. I really liked this move. Obviously, Petty could turn into a HOF and burn us for generations but that's probably unlikely. But the FO is playing to win and not for the future. Good for them. The Twins have a strong offense. Adding IKF improved our up the middle defense. And as soon as that's done, the FO goes out and gets a solid starter who is also a ground ball pitcher. Makes sense. They aren't done but they are obviously not throwing in the towel on this year which makes me very happy. The staff still needs upgrades but they are making the right moves, IMO.

    Killer, Carew, Puckett are absolute locks. I'd probably go with Mauer over Oliva but might consider Santana over both of them.

    He's a good player but my hope would be that he would become a HOF type bat. He has shown flashes of that - particularly his rookie year and 2017 before he got hurt a bit - but generally he's been a dangerous middle of the order type bat with injury issues. For example, he's strongly outplayed Michael Cuddyer through age 28 season. But the hope was that he'd be more like Morneau, as a floor. Still, realistic expectations instead of HOF expectations probably favor Sano better. Outside of injuries, we probably shouldn't complain.

    How is everyone dealing with the economy these last few months? In the last few months, we've bought a bit more into a few tech stocks as they fell (sq, apple) although they are still falling, made a modest investment into PG, and made a large (for us) buy of AXP.

    The big rumor I remember was that the Yankees weren't going to include Phil Hughes (a top 10 prospect, IIRC) for Santana and the Red Sox wouldn't include Elsbury or Bucholtz. It seemed like both teams were fine not getting Santana so long as the other team didn't. I still think Humber was the victim of college coaching and, had his arm problems not happened, would have been a good ML pitcher. But there are a ton of pitchers whose careers fell apart because of injury.

    If we had a healthy post-season rotation of Santana, Liriano and Radke (he pitched with a torn labrum!) in 2006, we would have won the World Series. No question at all in my mind, even though the bats didn't show up against the A's.

    Here's the 2022 schedule - https://gophersports.com/sports/football/schedule/2022 At Michigan State, Penn State, and Wisconsin. Hopefully they can steal one of those. The home games should all be wins. A 9-3 or 10-2 season is actually kind of possible.

    While Falvey was "saddled" with Molly, it's worth remembering that he resigned Molly to a three year contract and fired him a year later. I think your top five is basically right, but Cruz should be higher.

    Depends on what we get back but I expect that the Twins will trade either him or Polanco this offseason. It just makes too much sense.

    Of the three, I think Sevirino is the most likely to have a Miranda like break out but that's partly because Martin is already so highly regarded. But Sevirino has always been a hit first prospect and I think the game is changing back to that. (I honestly think some team will roll the dice on him in the rule v). He finished the year pretty well at Cedar Rapids.

    I'm not a fan of this FO but I can't believe they are done addressing pitching yet. They must have a trade in store. We have 30+ years of Pohlad ownership so I'll never blame the FO on payroll issues, which is what I think is stopping them from going after many of these arms. Falvey was hired to build a pitching pipeline, not rely on free agents. That's exactly why the Pohlad's hired him. We'll see if he can create one.
