  1. I think Milone ends up the odd man out when Nolasco comes back but I think Nolasco will get a few more minor league starts.
  2. http://screengrabber.deadspin.com/archie-bradley-leaves-game-under-own-power-after-liner-1700849750/+bubbaprog That looked bad but he walked off the field on his own so hopefully it's not too serious. A few years back, Nick Blackburn got a liner to the head from Bobby Abreau but was fine for his next outing. Hopefully, Bradley will be too.
  3. I was actually pretty impressed by John Angelos statements on the riots, myself. http://ftw.usatoday.com/2015/04/orioles-john-angelos-baltimore-protests-mlb "That said, my greater source of personal concern, outrage and sympathy beyond this particular case is focused neither upon one night’s property damage nor upon the acts, but is focused rather upon the past four-decade period during which an American political elite have shipped middle class and working class jobs away from Baltimore and cities and towns around the U.S. to third-world dictatorships like China and others, plunged tens of millions of good, hard-working Americans into economic devastation, and then followed that action around the nation by diminishing every American’s civil rights protections in order to control an unfairly impoverished population living under an ever-declining standard of living and suffering at the butt end of an ever-more militarized and aggressive surveillance state."
  4. Fulmer comes with some big questions though. Klaw has mentioned both his mechanics and his height. Obviously, we've all heard the height thing with Berrios but Berrios was the 30th pick, not the 6th. I don't want the Twins to draft a reliever at #6. So I'd just as soon they go the other way - upside with the HS kid Nikorak or even a "safe" college arm like Harris.
  5. http://deadspin.com/the-orioles-will-play-in-an-empty-stadium-1700733716 This is pathetic. The Orioles and White Sox will play tomorrow afternoon but fans won't be allowed inside b/c we are busy building a police state and fear-mongering is important. MLB's new commish - who should lose his job - said it was done to "minimize safety concerns."
  6. Can't argue with any of that.
  7. Threads like this get ugly, really quick.
  8. Sounds more like a Kyle Gibson type to me. Not a bad pitcher but he's not going to be a front of the rotation guy either. He'd probably sign for a little less than slot but without a 2nd round pick, that doesn't seem the way to go. I think they should still aim for BPA and I don't think it's him. Course, he could turn out to be the Wacha of this draft and everyone saying "why'd we pass on him?"
  9. From Callis' article: "While there's depth in this year's Draft crop, it's thinner at the top than teams picking there would hope. Rodgers might not have gone higher than fifth in 2014, while Tate and Swanson could have gone outside the top 10 selections." Twins have the 6th pick and then the 73rd and 80th. They lost their second round pick for signing Santana. Ouch. I was hoping that Kyle Cody could have pitched himself into the top 10, instead, the Alex Meyer-like pitcher might have been available with our second round pick.
  10. mlbpipeline redid their draft and went to 100 players. Really wish we had a second pick in the early 30s like when we snatched Berrios. Oh well. http://m.mlb.com/prospects/2015?list=draft It looks like a consensus top three of Rodgers, Tate and Swanson has emerged. After that, it get's messy. Aiken dropped to 22, Matuella 23. Allard 16. They like Nikorak at 6 now and I'd be happy with that pick if it happened. I don't want Fulmer or Buehler.
  11. http://deadspin.com/sociopathic-angels-blogger-posts-now-deleted-rant-about-1700641867 And sometimes I think the posters here go a bit too far. This Angels fan is not a fan of Hamilton, at all. SB Nation removed the post but deadspin posted a bit of it before hand. I know we tend to root for uniforms before people but this guy was insane.
  12. I thought that too. I think the teams aren't as good as they were 10 years ago. Now I think there's a lot more parity and no "great" teams out there. Washington, if healthy, could be.
  13. Again, I don't think anyone is arguing that. I don't think anyone expects those numbers to remain static and the team to continue to flirt with .500.
  14. No reason to be negative. I think most of us, after that Detroit opening series, would have been thrilled to be 8-10. This team still has some problems. I was never a big believer in Vargas so I'm more than ready to pull the plug on him and bring up Pinto. Everyone knew Santana would regress but he's really looked lost. More than I thought he'd look. I'm not sure if he needs to go to AAA to work on things/get confidence or work it out up here but he needs to get better. But it's nice to see the team stealing some series from teams. No reason not to enjoy it.
  15. Agree with AM. there is too much talent there for them to continue to struggle.
  16. He's also been a bit unlucky. If his krate stays at 20%, he'll be fine.
  17. Well, maybe he should calm things down in KC? I thought he was for sure going to replace Yost last year if they missed the playoffs. He seems the type of manager DM wants, local writer Joe Posnanski has always spoken highly of him. The Royals are a Twins-like team. Anyhow, it looks like he wants to manage again and I hope he gets a job.
  18. Reading more about this, it sounds like Eaton was chirping at Ventura about quick pitching him. I had honestly never heard that phrase before. Strange.
  19. Why on earth would the player's association be ok with that? Do they get a clause granting FA early if the player out plays his expected return on the contract? I know, as fans, we tend to root for the team over players but that's pretty extreme.
  20. I wouldn't worry. Baseball players nearly never get hurt in fights or retaliation HBPs - far less than hockey, football and even basketball players. The only few that I can think of were the Spaceman in the 70s, the catcher hitting the pitcher with the bat in the 60s, the Cards backup catcher about 7 years ago (was kicked in the head and got a concussion by a Red). Probably a few more but not really enough to think it's a real concern. If we're lucky, it's a brawl like last night where nothing much really happened but are fun to watch.
  21. There were a couple hit batsmen in the game again. I dunno. Strange, I really don't remember a team being this .... dickish in a long time.
  22. Maybe it's the Royals? http://m.mlb.com/news/article/120176696/tensions-boil-over-in-royals-white-sox-fracas Anyway, I've never quite seen this before. The pitcher (Yordano Ventura) snags a pretty well hit groundball by Eaton and seemed angry about it. As Eaton jogs up the first base line, it looks like Ventura brings into question Eaton's mother's sexual proclivity. They exchange swear words but the dugouts emptied fast and some other players make it a little scrum. These Royals sure are making April more interesting.
  23. Well, hopefully a little rest and he'll be fine.
  24. Pretty good start. Now has 10 starts at A ball under his belt. If his next four are also awesome, I would think they'd push him up.
  25. I don't have any doubt that, if the Twins take Aiken, they'll sign him. They'll have worked something out with Close before hand. The issue is solely on how they view his medicals.
