  1. Per LEN we might be getting a minor leaguer back as well so maybe the cost is someone in our 15-25 prospect rankings (per pipeline, those guys would be Javier, Thorpe, Burdi, Hildenberger, Reed, Melotakis, Granite, Baddoo, Miranda, Ynoa. Melo was already available so it's not him. Burdi is injured, Hildenberger and Granite are in the majors, Javier and Thorpe would cause this website to burn down. Ynoa, Miranda and Baddoo are too young to get rid of yet. Reed?
  2. I was never a big fan of them when they came out but I saw them at Live 8 in Philly. A bunch of acts had gone on before them and it had been a fairly hot boring morning (Toby Keith can really bring a crowd down) but they were fantastic live. I was truly impressed with them.
  3. The reality is that the Twins have been pretty good with promotions since Brad Stiel took over as farm director.
  4. Well, this thread was about the minor league teams but fortunately for you the Twins ML team is also winning.
  5. No, the Yankees haven't had a losing season in 20+ years because they have incredible payroll advantages that no other team has (and PEDs, lots of PEDs).
  6. All that idiot had to do was count to 30 and no one would have ever known. His buddy even says "is that 30?"
  7. Nice night for Gonsalves as well as Thorpe. I'd like to see Romero and Gonsalves moved out of AA soon. I know it's not killing them to keep them there but at the same time, they seem to have figured out that level. Let's see them in AAA or (in Romero's case) our bullpen. I wonder if Garver has some modest trade value - looking at what Buetera and Herrmann got, I think catchers are worth more than we do. If we're going to keep Giminez, why not move Garver for a AA future Mejia? Or move Giminez and bring up Garver.
  8. Carlos Correa out for a few months with a torn ligament in his thumb. Real bummer for the Astros. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2017/07/carlos-correa-out-six-to-eight-weeks-with-torn-thumb-ligament.html
  9. It's the Yankees. They cheated and got away with it.
  10. You're the one that brought up 2+2, not me. People have correctly pointed out the failed logic in your argument several times. I assume you don't think President Trump should be found guilty for any crime when he urged his follower to beat up protesters? I assume you don't think Sarah Palin's "cross hair map" had any impact on Giffords shooting. I assume you don't believe GOP rhetoric on abortion led to any abortion doctors being shot. And I suspect you don't think certain "news outlets" should be shut down because they reported an incomprehensibly stupid story about a pizza shop being a front for child sex ring. Dayton's comments on race and policing were true. They weren't made up. Police abuses against black men is a legitimate public problem. It makes people uncomfortable because we have to acknowledge that racism is still a big factor in our society.
  11. San Jose is 50 miles away from San Francisco and is the 10th biggest city in the US (bigger than SF). I suspect they'd get enough support to be all right. Some will stay loyal to the Giants but others will grow up with the new team and support them. They'll probably always be the Mets to the Giants' Yankees but they'd be in pretty good shape overall.
  12. Your analysis is greatly flawed but let's assume people killed cops because of what Mark Dayton said. Would that be race baiting? No. Because what Dayton said was still true. (As to those seven officers, I suspect the killing of unarmed black men across the country by cops was a far more important stimulus than a white governor's comments). You seem to suggest that if someone says anything that would upset another person enough to cause a crime, a person is baiting for that crime to happen. Your example is that if anyone is willing to kill republicans over global warming, we can't talk about global warming. That's absurd. But what you're really saying is that you don't want to have people talk about issues that are uncomfortable. I would assume you would support a teacher teaching 2+2=4 even if some stupid idiot threatened teachers over common core.
  13. The governor didn't race bait before. He correctly mentioned some hard racial truths. That's not the same thing.
  14. I have a friend who is an international scout for the Royals. He actually scouted Whitefield and wanted to sign him although it didn't go anywhere. He said we got a "good player" and that he was a steal for us.

  16. That's not an unreasonable position. I guess I'm not as worried but if the brass was worried about it, fine.
  17. Liriano was a sept call up but spent the first six weeks of 2006 in the pen as well. Perkins spent nearly all of 07 in the pen (i think he was on the DL as well) Santana wasn't a fulltime starter until his third season with the ML team. The point is that the Twins have certainly used the bullpen as an introductory method for young pitchers before.
  18. We did it with Santana, Liriano and Perkins (among others). There's nothing overly risky about getting him some BP time in the majors. He'd get to face ML quality hitters in limited situations, building up confidence, while learning to play in the majors. He seems to be able to handle AA pitchers. Over his last ten starts - 55 innings - he has a 1.46 era and 60 strike outs v 20 walks. Move him.
  19. While we were watching the match, the camera kept going to this very pretty woman in the audience so I said to my wife, that must be Cilic's wife or girlfriend. She looked at me and said, "That's Kate Middleton. She's married to the prince." He did well for himself.
  20. And he wins Wimbledon
  21. Nice start by Romero. I think he's done enough of these five inning starts in AA. Just move him to AAA or bring him up to our pen now and let him finish the year up here and hopefully we can plug him into a rotation spot next spring.
  22. Yeah, they can make a filler episode like this because they know we'll still watch but, blah. Not much happened and I think Sansa's one note acting style is going to really rub me the wrong way this year.
  23. Yeah, but then I'd need to update it and, well, I'm busy.
  24. Why did he miss two months of the season?
  25. Actually, Callis sorta confirmed that years ago when he was still at BA. He said Red Sox and Yankee prospects tend to get overhyped - he specifically mentioned Phil Hughes - because they were the big teams. He also said that teams with farms near the I-95 (Trenton, Lehigh Valley, Wilmington) get more coverage because the writers live in those areas so they might not see some teams until they go through those areas.
