    Wow. Well, best to Terry. He worked hard for this team for decades. I suspect the timing meant that he and the Pohlad family had a different view of what should happen at the trade deadline. I'm not sure what this means to Molitor, I always felt he was a Pohlad hire so I doubt he's gone. (Although I'm not a fan of this coaching staff). And Anthony is the logical interim GM. Nice to see that they will do a big GM search. And I would also assume that most people would look at the Twins GM job as a really nice prize.

    Romero has been really good sign by the international department. He signed for 260k in Oct 2011. mlbpipeline wrote this about him: "It's possible Romero would be talked about now as one of the better pitching prospects of the game if he hadn't gotten hurt. But the talented right-hander needed Tommy John surgery after just three starts in 2014, missing the rest of that and the 2015 season. Romero has a big arm when he's healthy, sitting in the 93-95 mph and touching the upper-90s. Romero's breaking ball has morphed a bit over time. It was more of a power curve two years ago before the injury, but it's turned into more of a slider and looked like it could be a plus one eventually based on how he was throwing it at instructs last fall. He has good feel for his changeup, giving him the chance to have three above-average pitches once he gets back to full strength. Romero is still learning how to pitch and there is certain to be some rust to shake off after nearly two years away from competitive pitching. If he can get back to where he was before the surgery, he has the chance to have among the best stuff in the Twins system."

    He was a 24th round pick out of Appalachian State which, I believe, isn't a great baseball program school but it's ok. His numbers so far are far better than what he put up in college. He's doing very well against younger competition and the Twins seem willing to move him up, which is good. He's probably a lottery ticket but he's a nice one to have.

    Nice start by Gonsalves. It doesn't mean much but with all the promotions, mlbpipeline updates its top 100 prospects and Gonsalves is now #98. Of course, that doesn't include recent draftees and it doesn't change the order for those above/below on how they've played but it is still nice to see.

    Sure, but the offense also pummeled Hamels, Manaea, Nola and Quintana. I do think the offense will certainly have some lows but they won't be the lows we saw in April.

    The Twins certainly have the pieces for a very good offensive team. Hopefully, we are starting to see that grow at last.

    Yeah, it looks like you timed that market really well. That always feels good. I was talking to my wife about that stock because you brought it up. We both are skittish around "technology" stocks b/c we don't feel like we know enough about the industry (as if I know enough about banking or oil, but whatever). So we haven't made many investments in 'tech'. Although we did buy up some Oracle stock in Summer '00.

    Mike - If you are looking for a nice dividend stock and want to take advice from some idiot on a baseball message board, I will say that one nice stock we owned was HP, the oil rig company. We bought it in 07 and sold it a couple years ago when we paid off a bunch of my student loans. We tripled our money on that investment and that's not even counting the really nice dividends we got. Oil's been knocked around a bit the last few years but it's starting to come out of it. I think it's priced a bit high - in the 60s - but if it slips into the 50s it's a bargain. IMHO. And the dividend approaches 5%. Since it's an oil rig company, it rises and falls with oil demand but the price will eventually get over 100 again.

    Ford has a great dividend but I'd stay away. I just don't trust it much over the longterm. I know it's improved but it always seem the last to the party on improving its cars. I might make a small investment in it but certainly not a big one. I think there are safer buys.

    I'm not a smart enough investor to know a lot about foreign markets but I'm sure there is money to be made there (and lost there). The only big foreign gamble we took was a 10k buy of TTM - a car company from India - about 10 years ago. It's annual gain is just under 10% for that period so it was a good investment but I bought it simply because an Indian friend of mine suggested it. We've kicked the tires of some other stocks and funds but never pulled the trigger. Mike's Mexico stock would have been a nice buy. I think if you did go there a fund like EWZ would be the best bet.

    Bit of both. We have an investment account with one of the big banks so we can get free reports on all sorts of stocks and have a guy there to talk about possible investments but he never initiates anything. It's usually us saying "is X good" and him usually giving us paperwork to decide for ourselves. Generally, we like dividend stocks but we're not that diverse. We tend to invest in 'safe' stocks - big banks, John Deere, index funds - but will occasionally make a 10% bet on a lesser stock. Mike's advice is pretty solid. My wife and I both max our 401k/pension accounts and put a crap load of our paychecks into two different savings accounts - a short term one for vacations/new car etc and the longterm investment account. I also think it makes sense to put some money in a 529 for your child's college if you can afford it but others disagree. In the investment account, a solid portion should be an index fund - ours is a vanguard fund that tracks the S&P 500. The general rule is your age should be X percent in index funds so if you are 30 and have 100k hidden away, 30K should be in index funds. But we have about 7 or 8 stocks we've held for years. When we buy stocks, we tend to hold them longterm. Generally that works but it did mean we got killed in 08 with the bank stocks. We had a lot of citi and wachovia. -sigh-

    Wow, so basically the entire A+ rotation is now in AA? Pretty good season for those young men. I assume Jay will put in the pen on an innings thing? Also, very good news on Palka. Hope he turns into something.

Looks like it might be a quantity year. Grab a bunch of guys and hope some develop type thing. I know so little about the group that I'll be happy so long as they spend all their money.

    Yeah, I agree. I think the Twins only have a handful of guys who have true FOR potential and Jorge isn't one of them. If they can include him in a package deal, that's fine.

    Very nice news on Balazovic signing. I really liked this draft class although it'll be a long time before we know how it shakes out. Sounds like Park is doing well against AAA pitching, which is good. Hopefully, he fixes his timing quickly and is back in the majors soon.

    Great start by Berrios. Hope he comes up soon. Nice to see Blankenhorn hit that HR - I'm a huge Cabbage fan but Blankenhorn was a real nice pick, too. Should be fun watching these younger bats develop. As for Harrison, I've always been a fan and he's still young but his ceiling still seems limited behind the guys that are ahead of him. If he could put it together, he seems like the kind of guy you kick in on a trade but he has to get it together first.

    True, but it looks like next year is going to be a pretty loaded class - more like 2011 or 2012 than this year. Hopefully, the Twins get lucky in the supp draft lottery and/or trade for a few extra picks for next year. The draft is supposed to be pretty deep with good college pitchers as well.
