  1. The post I responded to was "September," not 2026. But for the record if Abel is the Twins 3rd best starter in 2026 we're going to be pretty bad. As for "upside" and "likelihood of becoming a solid starter" do some research and let me know where Matthews was rated as a prospect. I know youre big on those ratings.
  2. Lopez and Ober will still be on IL, Ryan traded and Matthews will regress?
  3. I always felt getting out from under Correa was a long shot.
  4. Well every pitcher is an injury risk. Including Abel. There is no point focusing on injury risk unless there is some underlying issue. And using a history of health as a risk is...questionable analysis IYAM. The risk everyone is talking about is MLB production. We're trading it away. Elite level production at that. Over four seasons. We got none back. The risk of getting less MLB production back is entirely on the Twins.
  5. Then every pitcher in minor league baseball has a ceiling of a #1 or #2. Thats meaningless. And for the record..."5 elite pitches?" Just stop
  6. Nobody but you projects Abel as a #1 or #2 starter. Nobody can ever know for certain what a minor league player will become. But He's dropped off all top-100 lists except one. He's not included in Fangraphs top 200.. Most projections say he has a chance to develop into an average-ish starter. And BTW he's not there yet. You can be in favor of this trade without making stuff up.
  7. The inability for a large section of our population to add 1+1 and arrive at 2 is rather frightening. This isn't difficult: Adding Dobnak's $2,2M to the deal lowered the prospect return. You can be fine with that. But unless you can make a case Detroit wanted Dobnak for baseball reasons, you cant deny it.
  8. You know who made out like a bandit in this deal? @Matthew Trueblood
  9. You'll let me be grumpy?? GET OFF MY LAWN YOU WHIPPERSNAPPER YOU!!1!
  10. To be fair, this is just one quote from one (very recently traded) player.
  11. SI used to be the gold standard back in my day. That and The Sporting News. Now its a complete joke. Its a shame, if you ask me.
  12. I have a hard time thinking Mauer is going to leave his family and go ride busses in Florida for months coaching A ball catchers. For one thing I doubt he needs the money. Maybe a week at spring training.
  13. They've had modest success developing pitchers. Developing an everyday lineup has been an abject failure. Before you object to point 2 above, tell me what thread you're in.
  14. ...We were all celebrating a postseason series win, even if just a Wild Card. There seemed to be the corps of a good team in place, with help potentially on the way. Packed houses at TF, with delirious crowds. Good will all around. A couple weeks later the Twins have been bounced from postseason play yet again and management is stepping in the infamous "rightsizing" cowpie with both feet. Thus started a seemingly nonstop downward spiral that has yet to hit bottom. We sit here 22 months later without much hope of competing in the foreseeable future. Ownership questions. Management clearly on shaky ground or worse. Little help available in the upper minors. Pathetic MLB lineup. Sell off in progress, which isn't going so well. Man, things changed.
  15. Its worse than volatile. Its pulled from a hat. ... I assign Tait 37 gold stars, Duran 700. Abel 3568.9. Thats equally as valid.
