  1. Not to mention our manager felt the need to play offense one inning with only two outs instead of three. Yet again.
  2. The bullpen difference is rather pronounced.
  3. The Yankees pen might be the best in the postseason.
  4. Verlander now 3-0 for Houston with a .86 ERA. Glad we didn't pursue that "decline phase" loser.
  5. Just a bit intimidated, perhaps?
  6. Same distance when the Twins are up to bat.
  7. I hope to meet him some day. In the meantime we're stuck with RB I.
  8. 3-0. First new Gopher coach to start 3-0 since Warmath in '54. i guess the only question left to answer at this point is whether PJ leaves before or after coaching the Gophers in this year's Rose Bowl.
  9. Speaking for myself and several others, go read the game thread. Yes, I'd still be saying the same thing. Even if Martin hits into a DP. I DID say the same thing...in advance. I feel like those defending Molitor here must not have watched the game.
  10. We're not talking abstract here. "Fans always complain." We're talking about a specific game, and a specific pitcher. Colon lives on a razor's edge when he's throwing well. He was long past that point. I don't know the exact odds of him getting through the 7th, but they were small. Very small. Molitor had gotten 6 innings, when he really should have only gotten 5. Take that to the bank, and get your bullpen into the game, while you still have the lead.
  11. Or his handling of his staff has maximized the problems and weaknesses and prevented them from taking advantage of what he does have. Like, not pushing 44 year old, lives and dies by the slimmest of margins, needs pinpoint command to have any shot Bartolo Colon past the clear point when he doesn't have those things. And then expecting his bullpen--without its best relievers--to put out the fire.
  12. He had options. Clear ones. Crystal clear. Let the bullpen start fresh with a lead, or let the bullpen try to put out a fire, probably with the lead gone. He's going to have to use the pen before the game ends anyway. He chose poorly.
  13. Correct. Colon came out for the 7th, gave up a four pitch walk and a ringing double down the left field line.
  14. Neither hit left the infield, the walk was intentional, and if the second hit doesn't get him on the foot, he gets out of that inning tied. He threw the bell well. Besides, Pressly isn't the point. I agree the bullpen isn't strong, or deep, but that's irrelevant. It is what it is. He had to use his bullpen anyway, only now it's a tie game, go ahead run on second, no out. Really, really awful managing. ANY reliever starting the inning was a better choice than Colon.
  15. Colon shouldn't have come out for the 6th, much less the 7th. That was obvious to anyone watching the game. Molitor lost this game, not colon, and certainly not Pressley, who pitched quite well.
  16. You can't play Kepler against LH pitching at this point. He's helpless. Sub .400 OPS.
  17. I believe I saw somewhere it's the first back to back extra inning walkoffs since 1970.
  18. Mauer wouldn't hit if Dozier sacrificed. Anyway, I too understand the logic, but I hate making intentional outs, and I'm not going to change my mind because of the outcome.
  19. http://i3.mirror.co.uk/incoming/article6515155.ece/ALTERNATES/s615b/Barney-the-Dinosaur.jpg It would suck to get beat by Barney.
