  1. If the Twins aren't good situational hitters, why would you waste an out bunting, to put the team in a situation calling for situational hitting? If they're not good at getting a runner in from third with 1 out...you bunt to put a runner on third with one out??
  2. Yes, this is the disagreement. IMO he lost plenty of games by leaving his starter in until the damage was done.
  3. I don't know about that. Would Molitor have removed his best starter in the top of the first after recording 1 out? I sincerely doubt it. It's one of his primary weaknesses...his strong tendency to wait until his starter has suffered max damage, and THEN remove him. And it has nothing to do with the quality of his bullpen. If it did, he'd leave the starter in after the 3 run HR too.
  4. Concur. I thought the umpiring was great. Tight zone. And there were a number of Twins hitters who got pitches to hit, and didn't. Umpiring had nothing to do with this loss.
  5. He has 300 PAs of decent in AAA. Nothing of consequence (.700-ish OPS) in his other 4 minor league seasons. Zero power. His "good ABs" added up to a .611 OPS this year. If Zach Granite is your plan for fourth OFer, you're doing it wrong.
  6. As a minor league emergency depth piece...ok. A 6th or 7th OFer. As a regular backup major league OFer? Wayyyyyy too limited offensively. No arm. No thanks.
  7. The Twins SHOULDT have knocked Severino out in the first? That was the mistake?
  8. Whew, I'm home. Wasn't sure I'd make it in time for the game, my car wouldn't start and I had to take the bus home. I feel kind of bad too...the ride home reminded me how mean people can be. As I was sitting on the bus, a young lady got on with her baby. The bus driver took a look, and made a comment, I didn't quite catch it all, but something to the effect of "ugliest baby I've ever seen," or words to that effect. I felt bad, and she ended up sitting right across from me, crying her eyes out. "Tell you what," I said. "You go back up there and tell that SOB off! Here, I'll hold the monkey."
  9. I was in a Walgreens yesterday, when this duck walked up to the checkout counter with some chapstick. The counterperson was a bit taken aback, but recovered enough to ask, "Cash or credit?" "Neither," said the duck. "Put it on my bill."
  10. Sano did not look ready to face big league pitching this weekend. Seems like the right call to me.
  11. Maryland isn't actually that bad. Still, disappointing. Defense got shredded.
  12. So if you could go back to the start of the season, and have your choice between the pitcher who threw more innings, at a lower ERA, or The pitcher who threw fewer innings, at a higher ERA, but a better FIP You'd pick the second guy?
  13. We can disagree about what it might mean for the future, but as a measure of worth, FIP/xFIP is completely, totally irrelevant looking backward.
  14. My guess is they'll all get a batter or two Sunday, too.
  15. I have this recurring dream about having an ocean of orange soda right out my back door. It's sort of my Fanta Sea.
  16. Sano-zee! Edit: Well, that de-escalated quickly.
  17. I wanted to place a bet on the Twins winning the WC game, but I hate losing money, so I went to a psychic. Man that guy was overweight. I mean, obese. A real four chin teller.
  18. Man, I'm sorta jealous...I just found out my friend from high school invented Life Savers. They say he made a mint.
  19. This weekend's baseball games came as a surprise? I actually don't want ANYthing done on TF's playing surface, except major league baseball. I guess maybe a mid-winter hockey game isn't the end of the world. And yes...I'm not terribly surprised the Twins are a WC team this year.
