    great post. The lack of command also means too many pitches end up middle middle.

    You can't watch the diminished command and sliders that roll up there like the one to Anderson, which have both been common place this year, and think it's just bad luck. Something is wrong. The Twins should have added to their pen at the deadline.

    Agree, Particularly since I expect payroll to be down next year. Revenues have to take a big hit this year, and this would be one time where I wouldn't really complain about ownership dropping payroll.

    Some thoughts: Angel Hernandez had very little to do with the outcome of tonight's ball game. That's just lazy excuse making, IYAM. He might have missed a vew close pitches, if you believe in the little box on the TV, but missed for both sides, and didn't seriously affect any ABs. It's been obvious for quite some time, Rogers is not the same pitcher he was last year. He hasn't got the same command of the fastball, and the slider often just rolls up there with very little bite and ends up a very hittable pitch. He seems to know that, and pitches defensively. I wish the Twins had added a shutdown reliever or two at the deadline. Very little I really trust out there, particularly against good lineups. I often read that RBI are not a good measure of offensive contribution. I do not agree, and offer tonight as exhibit 1 million. OBP is worthless without someone bringing those runners home.

    The joy of winning the ALC, plus a home series to start the playoffs, plus the best chance of avoiding the Yankees? It would mean a great deal, if you ask me.

    given he scored without a throw, it almost certainly wasn't close. Also, Rosario initially slowed up into 2nd, and then restarted when he saw Rooker going home, so he wasn't trailing Rooker closely.

    a baserunner is on his own in that situation, even with the ball behind him. The 3rd base coach will be focused in the runner rounding 3rd. Eddie has plenty of time to pick up the ball as he approaches and rounds 2nd.

    I wish Baldelli would play his best players. Why would Buxton need time off so soon after returning from the IL? Same for Donaldson. Either they're healthy enough to play, or they should be on the IL. All the resting he does, doesn't prevent injuries, witness last year and this. It just intentionally weakens the team.
