  1. He may strike out just as often, but I'll be shocked if he hits that many home runs.
  2. Gordon seems to be the most obvious asset to trade. He is the closest to the majors of quite a few promising middle infielders. It seems fair to assume that (at least) one of Palacios, Javier, Marte, and Lewis will be as good as Gordon eventually, so all we are doing by trading him is delaying the arrival of a good infielder by a couple of years. Looked at that way, the question becomes whether Dozier, Polanco, Adrianza, and Vielma can bridge that couple of years. I'd say yes, so I'd be willing to part with Gordon for the right return.
  3. Lots of time to kill between pitches in a baseball broadcast!
  4. I wouldn't trade him unless the return was outstanding. Remember Wilson Ramos? At that time we even had an all-star behind the plate and we still regretted losing him (not to mention the paltry return).
  5. If it is to happen, I think it is best for it to happen before the deadline in case someone is desperate for Dozier, Santana, Grossman, or someone else over 28.
  6. I agree, but I think that is partially attributable to the crushing error. He's a young pitcher with sky-high ambition. We've seen this before that when something goes awry behind him, he starts trying to get a swinging strike on every pitch, nibbles at (and often misses) the corners, gets behind in the count, and gives up thunder when he has to come in with a 3-0 or 3-1 pitch. This seems fixable to me with more maturity and experience.
  7. Keep thinking: Berrios will be a better pitcher next year for games like this one.
  8. Looks a lot like the 2016 Berrios. Should have been out of the inning on an easy double play. Instead he gives up a bunch of runs.
  9. Sounds awesome. But where will I find the time what with the ~6000 hours I've logged on Football Manager???
  10. True, but I'll take the zero on the board.
  11. It would be too bad if Dozier has to sit for a while. The guy we're anxious to bring up doesn't play 2b. Although I guess Rosario played there pretty consistently for a couple of years in the lower minors. Anybody want to see his glove in the infield? <Duck>
  12. The emergence of Polanco and the growing promise of Mejia makes the Nunez trade look pretty good. Trade a proven veteran who is redundant due to a rising star (with other rising stars behind him in this case) for someone young who might become useful. It kind of reminds me of another trade with the Giants that turned out pretty well for the Twins. Come to think of it, maybe we should only trade with the Giants (and never with the Nationals).
  13. Funny how the timetable differs for drafted players vs. international signees. I feel like we have been hearing about Javier forever, and it's really wonderful to see his name finally start to appear in the game reports. On the other side, Lewis has been a Twin for two weeks and here he is already!
  14. Two thoughts/questions: 1. I'm too lazy to look up the detailed numbers, but it seems like we have been seeing a lot of doubles and no home runs from Park lately. Is he cutting down his swing to try to reduce strikeouts? Anybody have any info? 2. From what I read about Granite, he seems like a Dan Gladden type of player: pesky, always on base, steals when he can, and covers a lot of ground in the OF. The kind of guy I always want on a team.
  15. It seems like we always lose dealing with Washington. (And I'm not even thinking about politics.) Ramos? Span? Belisle shows that we can't even get the better of a deal when we don't give anything up! Advice to Front Office: don't deal with the Nationals.
  16. How about faking the bunt and having both runners steal. Both 3b and 1b are rushing in. Fast runner could probably beat ss to 3rd, no?
  17. Dick says Keuchel on the DL with neck strain. Beard too heavy?
  18. And Eddie is playing tonight because ............
  19. Only the opinion of an old fogy, but it seems like almost every team in MLB has a designated "Stupid Beard Guy." And every European football team has a "Stupid Hair Guy."
  20. Yup. Red Sox = Yankees + Beards + Inferiority complex. (Is that too much math?)
  21. Has he thrown even a single inside pitch yet?
