  1. Jeremy, are we getting profiles for all three of Wentz, Lowe and Whitley? Seeing alot of buzz out there about the Padres cutting a deal with Quantrill at #8. Will be interesting to see how the deal making turns out this year.
  2. When should we start becoming concerned about Berrios' control and pitch counts? Been going on for awhile now. Was considered to be one of his strengths, I thought.
  3. With the expected deals being cut at the top, is there a chance a projected top-10 player falls to the Twins at 15? My fear is the Twins would take said player and run into a contract hassle - the player (and his agent) balk at the Twins' offer because they feel he should have gone higher. My hope is the Twins brass would know these demands ahead of time so that they could pass on the guy for someone else.
  4. You mentioned Matt Manning dropping to the Padres at 24. Didn't you mock him to the Padres at 8?
  5. Ha! Players that can "fly". I see what you did there. Very tricky, Seth!
  6. Wonder if the Kernels will call up anyone from EST to bolster their relief staff. Maybe they can absorb the workload, but that's a lot of innings.
  7. Jermaine Polacios. Love his stick, but man...his glove is turning into Jorge Polanco right before our eyes. He had a .960 fielding percentage in the GCL last year at SS and then it dropped to around .890 when was promoted to E-Town. Now at Cedar Rapids it's dropped another 10 to .880. Anyone know whether his defensive issues are fielding the ball or throwing? If fielding, are the infields in the GCL in more of a pristine condition than in the Appy League or Midwest League? Not making excuses for him, just trying to come up with a reason why his defense has faltered.
  8. Consistency is the key, yes. I'm hoping that Stu Cliburn helped make some mechanical changes so that this outing doesn't turn out to be a one-time fluke. Guess we'll find out in his subsequent turns in the rotation. Really good sign though.
  9. Quantrill's availability seems like a double-edged sword. If he comes back healthy and pitching well is he long gone by the time the Twins pick at 15. On the other hand, if he's shaky at best, do we want to take a chance on him?
  10. The K's on offense is problem #1 the Twins need to resolve. Averaging 11.7 strikeouts per game is not going to keep you in many games. At this pace the Twins would shatter the single season MLB SO record by over 350.
  11. Ahh, okay. Thought it had to be something like that.
  12. Thanks- excellent analysis. All teams strike out a lot these days. So it makes sense to go beyond the raw numbers and look at it from the league average perspective.
  13. What is the Twins' team single season record for strikeouts and in what year?
  14. I was under the impression that a minor leaguer became a free agent after six years. Noticed that Alex Wimmers is starting his 7th season (first year 2010). What's the ruling on this? Am I missing something? Does his first short season in his draft year not count?
  15. Ok, so where do Keaton Steele and Cody Stashak end up? Thought one or both would end up on the Kernels roster.
  16. So, I don't see alot of natural closers in the relief corp. Looking at a closer by committee approach?
  17. I think Buxton sticks in CF. Nolasco in the rotation, Duffey to AAA. Jetttison Tonkin from the 40-man. If he clears, fine. If he doesn't, well, he doesn't really fit in long-term with Burdi, Reed, Chargois on the horizon. More importantly, grab a 3rd lefty for the pen...either Runzler or O'Rourke. Here's why: Look at the early schedule for the first month and all the big-stick lefties we'll need to face. First two series - Chris Davis, Pedro Alvarez, Mike Moustakas, Alex Gordon, Eric Hosmer. There's a little gap where the Angels and Brewers don't have a scary LH hitter. But then we run into the Nats and Indians. Bryce Harper, Michael Brantley and Jason Kipnis. Early season screams for an additional one-hitter, situational lefty out of the bullpen. Can't burn Abad for one hitter every game.
  18. Ha! Yeah, the narrator in the video starts off by saying he's going to do a quick analysis of Park's swing... and then rambles on for 13 minutes!
  19. Mike Berardino had an interesting November blog detailing how Jake Reed worked with Fort Myers pitching coach Ivan Arteaga late last season. http://blogs.twincities.com/twins/2015/11/16/twinsights-how-jake-reed-got-his-groove-back/ Seems Arteaga noticed that Reed needed to lengthen his stride. His tutelage must have worked since Reed had an outstanding final month with the Miracle and then a great Arizona Fall League. Here's hoping for a great 2016 for Jake!
  20. Other than guys like Kintzler and Boshers who were signed from outside the organization, who are the "in house" non-roster minor leaguers invited to major league camp? Thought Burdi was one. Chargois?
  21. While most folks have their eyes on the Fort Myers rotation, and with good reason, the Kernels starting staff piques my interest. Seems to be a lot of under the radar talent there. I think this is the year Sam Clay finally breaks through at Cedar Rapids. Also like Stashak and Cutura; both pitched well at E-Town last year. Add in Rodriguez and Gibbons and it should be a fun year at Veterans Memorial Stadium.
  22. My guess is that Jeremy would just hang out with the scouts all day prepping for the June amateur draft. Get him a conference room with whiteboards on all four walls and he'll be happy as a clam!
  23. Is there anyone in the org that can pick up the slack for Kanzler in the 'stache department? Has to be someone.
  24. Maybe it's just me, but Sano looks like he's pushing 3 bills in that HR clip.
