  1. Seth, can you remember any other Twins prospects that hit three affiliates during their draft year? Can't think there would be too many.
  2. Would love to see Brent Rooker and Jaylin Davis become the CR Kernels' version of the Bash Brothers! Add in Blankenhorn, Palacios, Whitefield, Diaz....that's a potent lineup. Too bad Luis Arraez is hurt this year.
  3. Hey, identify the Twins draft pick with a College World Series championship ring... Hmmm...
  4. I'm hoping the Twins take McKay just because I'm curious as to how this plays out. Pitch? Hit? Both? May not help the big club in the future but it's a heck of a story line!
  5. ...in the field. He talking about SS or just the general field of players in the draft?
  6. Not to mention a sweat soaked cap with a little rosin mixed in.
  7. Gore and Lewis both Boras clients. My guess is that Boras realizes Lewis could fall further than Gore if not taken at 1-1. Maybe some deal-making going on.
  8. McConnell. Boras client and Gator commit? Tough sign. Will need plenty of pennies saved from 1-1 and I could definitely see a Lewis/ McConnell package deal.
  9. McKay does get plenty of strikeouts. All-time career leader at Louisville.
  10. What, no Jaylin Davis to the Midwest League All-Star game? I realize he strikes out at a fairly high clip, but still.... .271 avg, 11 HR, .507 slugging is nothing to sneeze at.
  11. Have to believe if Mollie goes out to the mound to make a pitching change after a particularly rough outing, Heston will say "I'll give you the baseball if you pry it from my cold, dead hands".
  12. Wong actually came to Houston as a shortstop, right? Then switched over to catcher?
  13. Yep, Berrios, Wright, Romero and Gonsalves makes for a pretty decent rotation if everything breaks right. If not, add in Mejia, maybe a free agent (Darvish?) and possibly a young rotation piece in a Santana deal and you have some depth to work with in case one or two of the arms come along slower than you'd like.
  14. At 35 and 37 I like the following prospects: Seth Romero, Clarke Schmidt, Tanner Houck (college pitchers) Heliot Ramos and Mark Vientos (toolsy prep position players) Brent Rooker, Greg Deichmann (productive college bats)
  15. In my perfect scenario I take Kyle Wright with the first pick. Then, in the third round I take Connor Wong, catcher, from Houston. Assign both to the same affiliate and we can have Wright pitching to Wong. A Wright / Wong battery.
  16. Certainly not past Atlanta at #5. Personally, I like Gore better than Greene.
  17. Hughes to the bullpen? Ooooh, I don't know about that. I think the creativity here needs to be how to get him off the squad completely.
  18. Not to mention maybe a "close to MLB ready" pitcher in any Ervin Santana selloff. Remains to be seen, I guess.
  19. They'll probably take Brendan McKay just to burst your bubble!
  20. The flexibility is intriguing to me. Rather have Garver sub for Joe instead of throwing Gimenez over there at 1B. Even a bench bat, hitting for Castro late in a game without putting your catching in dire straits (still have Gimenez). Maybe even free up Robbie to play a little OF against lefties and give Rosario a break.
  21. Been thinking about this for a couple days now since Kennys Vargas was demoted and the Twins went to a 13-man staff: Any chance Mitch Garver could be the position player that is brought back when they eventually go back to a 12-man staff? Vargas was having a really tough time from the right side of the plate; something that Mitch could provide. Garver has a ton of flexibility also; can be the 3rd catcher but most importantly can DH (again, as some RH pop) as well as fill in for Joe at 1B. After a bit of a slow start at the plate in Rochester he has really been good the past two weeks or so - slashing .270/.413/.514 That's a .927 OPS. Also has 9 walks against 10 K's - a solid ratio. Not too shabby overall. I could be way off base on this. But I think he could help the Twins.
  22. He's a center fielder, I do believe. Think Lorenzo Cain. If Lewis goes 1-1 it's all about the bonus pool $$. I still would lean Kyle Wright at this point.
  23. Yeah, I guess the high pitch count in the early innings is more of a symptom than anything else. Too much nibbling, deep counts, wasted pitches, etc... It probably means the starter is just pitching badly and you need to go out with the hook and get him.
