  1. How quiet do the Twins keep things as far as progress of players in fall instructionals? Thinking in terms of Lewis Thorpe (assuming he's going to be there). Seems like you want other teams to think his arm keeps falling off and needs to be reattached, even though he may be winging it up there at about 93.
  2. Polanco is a second baseman. Dozier should have been dealt before now. For three years running, Dozier has completely disappeared offensively for 2-3 months at a time. Next year will be no different. Leave it to the Twins to always create logjams at positions. Maybe the new GM can clean this mess up.
  3. Mitch Garver and Stuart Turner both caught Mejia in the AFL last November. Nick Burdi, Trevor Hildenberger, Jake Reed and Taylor Rogers on the same Scottsdale pitching staff.
  4. Somewhat surprised that Luis Arraez only has one stolen base. For as many times as he's been on base I'd have thought he'd have more. Don't have my Twins Prospect Handbook handy or I'd see if it says anything about his speed. Maybe he's working on his technique, except that he has only attempted three SB's.
  5. Wonder if Tyler Jay is hitting the proverbial wall with the increased innings or just the better competition at AA? Maybe a combination of the two? Struggling with his control it seems... 4.5 BB/9 in his two Chattanooga starts.
  6. Must have missed those tweets. Good to see Melotakis picking it up as the season goes on. A left-hander to boot!
  7. Seth didn't mention him, but Mason Melotakis is another "riser" that's been coming on strong. Pitching out of the Chattanooga bullpen, and coming off TJ surgery, he came out of the gate a tad slow. In April/May, Melotakis had these numbers: 14.1 IP, 3.77 ERA, 18 H, 7.5 K/9, 1.53 WHIP However, since June 1 he's really picked it up: 9.2 IP, 0.00 ERA, 7 H, 12 K/9, 0.93 WHIP Someone worth watching, I believe.
  8. Another thing to keep in mind as we head towards the trade deadline- ask for higher upside guys in A or A+ ball that don"t need to be protected yet. If you get middling AA or AAA players back that need to be protected you"re just treading water as far as the 40-man goes. Personally, would rather have higher ceiling guys anyway, even if they're 2-3 years away from the bigs.
  9. Does anyone know where Jovani Moran is? The pitcher from the Puerto Rican Academy that was drafted in '15? Didn't see him on either of the short-season rosters. BTW, is extended spring traing technically over now? Or are there kids still in Fort Myers that haven't been assigned to GCL or E-Town yet?
  10. Wow. What's with the Alex's hanging up the cleats in Fort Myers? First, Alex Swim. Now Alex Real. Anybody keeping an eye on Alex Perez in case he gets any negative thoughts about playing anymore? Or Alex Muren, for that matter.
  11. Sounds like Benninghoff is this year's version of Colton Eastman? Although, the Twins must think they have a better chance of prying him away from college since they drafted him 20 rounds higher.
  12. Seth- give any thought to Tyree Davis in your top-40? Realize he was a lower round draft pick, but he seems to have some solid skills to work with.
  13. Johan Quezada (barring injury) will be the fastest riser when Seth does this list next June. Just my two-cents worth of prediction!
  14. I like Seth's plan on Tyler Jay. Was thinking they'd just taper off his innings with the Miracle. But maybe give him a look in the 'pen at AA just as a carrot and a reward for a solid season. Then, in 2017 start him again in Fort Myers, and if he comes out of the chute fast, get him into the Chattanooga rotation by May.
  15. Hackimer. Teammate of Cody Stashak with the Red Storm last year, I assume?
  16. Ha! Beat me to it! Posted the same. Walkout song is too perfect!
  17. No doubt Jax, from Air Force, needs to take the mound to Kenny Loggins' "Danger Zone" as his walkout song.
  18. Yes, Sano should be at 3B. Even better at DH; but we already have about seven DH's on the team, so... Wonder if there would be a market for Dozier also? Would like to see Polanco take over at 2B, long term.
  19. Do you see your previous pick Dunn going higher than #15 now? I think MLBPipeline.com had him mocked to the M's at 11. Not sure how his outing yesterday vs Tulane affected his stock.
  20. I predict Jeremy gets all 12 of these picks exactly right. Then he drops the mic, walks out of the room and retires from MLB draft analysis.
  21. Have to go with Ian Anderson here. Solid prospect. Plus, just think of all the great Jethro Tull concerts we can get after games at Target Field. Playing that flute and belting out "Locomotive Breath". Sweet!
  22. Have to feel for the Wings. Get to face Glasnow after two of your key cogs get called up to the bigs. Bad timing.
  23. Another "fast track to the majors" Burdi brother. Wonder who makes the big show first, Zack or Nick?
  24. Bruno to Buck the first time he goes 0 for 4 with 3 K's: "Son, what's with this leg kick thing you're doing. We need to fix that".
