  1. Zach Jones, Adam Brett Walker, Travis Harrison, Taylor Rogers and Tyler Duffey to name five.
  2. If they are, no one better than May to tell him things can and do get better!
  3. Downloaded the Twins Draftbook. Just started perusing through it. Looks good!
  4. What the heck is going on with Silva and all these passed balls? Never heard of a catcher getting the yips on a pitched ball before.
  5. If Tyler Jay were called up in September of this year, for example, he'd need to added to the 40-man. Wouldn't he need to stay there for however long it takes to make the transition to a major league starter? Could be burning up a 40-man spot for a couple years possibly?
  6. Yeah, that 1983 draft still sticks in my craw. Besides the Belcher non-signing we also failed to sign Oddibe "Young Again" McDowell as the 1st pick in the June Secondary and our 2nd round pick in the amateur portion, Billy Swift. One wonders if the Twins would have had a nice run of playoff appearances (beyond '87 & '91) if we had added those three to our core group. Especially the pitchers as we needed to fill out our staff in the late 80's/early 90's with reclamation projects like Neal Heaton, John Candelaria and Shane Rawley. Guess we'll never know.
  7. Probably Jay, if eligible. I'd have Stewart down at about 11 or 12.
  8. Heard Adam Eaton's name thrown out as a good MLB comp for LaMonte Wade. Makes some sense...similar skill sets.
  9. So, the walks are up after Gonsalves' promotion. Wonder if this is a case of MWL hitters chasing more pitches out of the zone? More experienced hitters in the FSL are probably going to lay off those pitches. Like you said, Nick...refinement.
  10. Yes, Nolasco was pitching better than people give him credit for. Since he's owed $30 mil over the next 2 1/2 years, he's not going anywhere.
  11. Would be kind of unorthodox having both Alex Meyer and Tyler Jay as key members of your major league pen this year, only to return to the minors next year to continue their starting careers. But I like it!
  12. Yes, and Wimmers' strikeout rate per 9 has been pretty impressive of late. Wouldn't mind seeing him as a September call-up depending on the Twins' status at the time and how he does the remainder of the season. Of course, he'd have to be added to the 40-man.
  13. Exactly. Just watch how much better hitters like Dozier, Mauer, Hunter and Plouffe are when Buxton is on the base paths. It changes the entire pitch selection when you have to worry about a base runner with elite speed. You'll be seeing a whole lot more fastballs down broadway. Buxton should be hitting leadoff.
  14. I would use Jay as a reliever this year, keeping open the option of bringing him up to the big club if the need is there in August/September. Next year I would begin the conversion to full time starter. There is one downside I see. If Jay is indeed brought up to help the Twins later this season he would need to be added to the 40-man roster. He would remain on the 40-man for the next 1-3 years as he learns to be a starter. On the surface, would seem to be a waste of a valuable spot.
  15. Maybe I missed some news at some point, but what happened to Sam Clay? Noticed he hasn't pitched with the Kernels since mid-May. Is he on the DL or maybe sent back to EST?
  16. Kohl's kind of a mess right now. Last night- a couple of wild pitches, a fielding error and a wild pickoff to 1st in addition to his sub-par numbers.
  17. I'm okay with playing Arcia in LF if he's hitting around .270 with some pop. Get him his 3 at-bats and then, hopefully with a Twins lead, plug in a late inning defensive replacement like Rosario (or Hicks).
  18. Not sure what mix of pitches Alex Meyer is working on out of the bullpen, but if it's only the fastball and slider then his starting days, at least for 2015, are over. If this is the case, I agree with Jeremy - get him a few confidence building outings under his belt at Rochester and then get him up to the big club. My dream scenario (okay, hypothetical scenario) is for the Twins to be in contention in August/September with Alex Meyer missing some bats from the right side and 1st round pick (maybe) Tyler Jay missing bats from the left side.
  19. Let's hope the rain holds off tomorrow for all our clubs. Looks like a lot of high-profile hurlers toeing the rubber.
  20. Am I wrong or did Jake Reed have a much improved May before last night's....ahem, hiccup?
  21. Michael Theofanopoulos has to be an arm injury waiting to happen, what with the weight of the stitching hanging on the back of his shoulder blades!
  22. Pretty impressive to make the call on Max Murphy and even get the round correct. Just curious, Jeremy; how many of the 2014 Twins' top 10 picks were within the 10% composite average for the round they were chosen? In other words, were there any "reaches" or "value picks" from what you could tell?
