  1. In which case he'd be representing the Twins in Cincy at the All-Star game!
  2. This is so true. Short term gain by playing Santana in CF. When Buxton gets here then Santana is back to square one at SS.
  3. Take a deep breath everyone... The over/under on number of starters the Twins will need this year is probably around 12. May and Meyer will get their shot. As well as Pelfrey, Wheeler, Darnell, Berrios, Stauffer. Opening day is just a starting point; things start changing in a hurry after that.
  4. You are exactly right. Don't think you could bring Milone in with guys on base. Would need to start his own innings with the bases empty, which really limits his bullpen versatility.
  5. I would bet Polanco is playing 2B well before the end of Dozier's contract. The length and size of the contract make Dozier easily movable.
  6. Arcia has definitely been streaky so far in his career. He'll hit the cover off the ball for two weeks and then go three weeks where he really struggles. Question is, if he puts up season long numbers that suggest an extension but he is still streaky, should the Twins go forward with it? Seems like consistency should should count for something. Plus, he needs to stay off the DL with nagging injuries. In fact, if his back flares up again that should be a red flag to hold off on an extension. Hopefully, Oswaldo remains healthy and consistent and we can pick up extension talks later in the year.
  7. I think Thompson should get a shot over Thielbar. But I doubt that happens. He'll probably be the first LOOGY they call up if they need one at some point this season.
  8. Makes a person wonder if this wildness can ever be tamed. He's been working on it for a long time now. Maybe Neil Allen and Marty Mason can work some magic.
  9. Does anyone know what happens with 40-man guys like Sano, Wheeler and Rosario if they get hurt and go on the DL before they get assigned? Do they accrue service time and/or collect a major league minimum salary while on, lets say, the 60-day DL?
  10. I don't even know how to handicap this race for the 5th starter spot. Milone, Pelfrey, May and Meyer have all pitched well so far this spring. Everything being equal, probably an edge to experience. Should be an interesting final couple weeks.
  11. I would guess AA Chattanooga. Especially, if both Meyer and May are in the Red Wings rotation.
  12. Good stuff, Seth! Have you seen Andro Cutura, the Twins 7th round pick last June out of SE Louisiana?
  13. I think there'll be another lefty in the major league 'pen for sure...besides Duensing. Wimmers will most likely be in the Chatty rotation. If both Meyer and May start in the Red Wings rotation, then either Rogers or Duffey will also start with the Lookouts. Agree that Wheeler is with Rochester.
  14. College seniors usually drop quite a bit in the draft regardless of how good they were. The whole age thing, ya know.
  15. I predict Milone hits his 2-run home run off Aroldis Chapman in the top of the 9th as Cincy tries to close down a 1-0 win on June 29th.
  16. Wouldn't mind seeing what Jake Mauer and Tommy Watkins can do with him at Cedar Rapids. But yeah, wouldn't hurt to get some individual hands-on training in extended spring either.
  17. Notice in the first clip how Gibson instinctively curled up and protected that pitching hand from getting a cleat right in the middle of it? Smart man.
  18. Given a little more time with Klaw he probably could have touched on a few more notable Twins stories from that season: Ray Miller taking over for Slick Gardner in June, the Blyleven trade in August and Steve Howe's late-season cameo. Good memories!
  19. Really a low risk move by the Twins to take Graham for a test drive in spring training and maybe early in the regular season. They'll know pretty quick whether he has regained any of his previous velocity. Seems like J.R and Stephen Pryor are kind of in the same boat as far trying to regain their "stuff" after injuries. By the way, not out of the realm of possibility that we get Sean Gilmartin back from the Mets also.
  20. Might take a little while for Buxton's power to come to fruition. So he probably projects better initially as a leadoff guy where you can utilize his speed. But, yeah, definitely looks like a 2-3 hitter down the road.
  21. I'll bet Rosario starts in AAA Rochester, especially after his breakout AFL campaign. Just a hunch. This would open up more room in a crowded Chattanooga OF.
  22. Good read. Harrison is probably one of the top 2 or 3 minor leaguers I'll be closely watching this year. If his power comes back he can at least be a contributor in the big show someday, even if it's a bench bat or platoon guy.
  23. Some minor concerns about his hit tool, I get that. He'll be fine. In the meantime, he has two elite tools that don't go into slumps... speed and a rocket throwing arm.
