  1. I don't know where the "cutoff" his, or what you "expect"... but I do know the cutoff certainly is not now, or anytime this year for that matter. If in April 2018 he's "well below All Star level" I would say its probably fair to downgrade the extremely lofty expectations... but I'm not sure what you are asking, should he be released at that point?
  2. Mike Trout... should his forecasts have been downgraded? (Not comparing Buxton, just giving obvious example of the previous top prospect pre-Buxton)
  3. He's had 24 at bats this year, that's it. (But you found it ok to use that to make your argument) "His offense is speaking for itself."
  4. My expectations are he is going to be a star, as soon as later this season or definitely next. I have also watched enough baseball to know all players are not stars from their 1st 100 at bats, on. I'm not sure how that is setting expectations low.
  5. I'm judging both (too early, but thats the theme of this thread). He's been very bad at the plate, and phenomenal in CF. He's serviceable due to the latter
  6. Yeah, not sure why its an issue to wait more than 150 at bats to judge a 22 year old. Comparing him to avg prospects is no more absurd than expecting him to hit immediately, especially considering his background and age BTW, defense is part of the game. He is a serviceable "player" because he is one of the best center fielders in baseball
  7. 1) If there is a real belief that struggling for a couple weeks in the Majors is hurting development, then yeah, a player might need to be sent down. 2) The players performance is hurting the team. In regards to Buxton at least - It doesn't sound if his confidence is shaken at all, the at bats do seem to be getting better... so I'm not sure there is an argument for #1 (get back to me in mid to late May) For 2) The replacement in CF would likely be Eddie Rosario/ Danny Santana and David Murphy (LF). So your defense is going to dramatically decline, and oh ya, Rosario and Santana are as lost if not more than Buxton at the plate... and yeah, they are 0-9 so before to long the Win/Loss column for this season won't mean much
  8. I don't think we ever need to worry about Molitor being a GM... I do think we need to fear Antony
  9. In the Byron Buxton predictions page, most (myself included) figured he would struggle for a month or two. Personally I don't believe he is going to improve at AAA, I think he just needs at bats at the Major League level. Now if they determine he's completely losing his confidence, etc... then by all means it should be a consideration, but I don't see or hear that being a concern. If the team was 4-5 and Buxton's numbers through 7 games (basically all he's played) were the same, would we be having this discussion? No? Then we shouldn't be having it now. His development (especially as the playoffs become more and more of a pipe dream) should be most important. I think we'll all look back on this come August and laugh.
  10. They haven't won a single playoff game in over 11 years. That's a hell of a "window"
  11. Can we send down Molitor for a month and let him get some seasoning in the minors? Call up Mientkiewicz to take his spot.
  12. Kyle Gibson, Brian Dozier... the list goes on
  13. Why did Murphy hit for himself? An Arcia home run ties the game, no? The Sox have a lefty up in the pen?
  14. The game isn't being broadcast on FSN, likely why there isn't an alternate audio.. unless mlb.tv lets you listen to the radio announcers
  15. I didn't put Suzuki on there because I think his value is 0. I don't think Nolasco would bring back anything either, but at least if he's competent for a month or two you may get someone to pick up part of his 2017 contract
  16. Because I'm sure without Daniel Murphy knocking on the door these players would have no idea they should hit better than they did in the 1st week. Hey, demoting Arcia for not hitting during his 5 game rehab stint last year did wonders for his development, lets see if it works again on other guys!
  17. Again, its been 8 games (the 3 outfielders haven't even started all 8). If you want to talk about OPS+ after 8 games, last year in 91 games Danny Santana's was 44. Pure panic and a GM that is long past his time
  18. I'm so confused by this. And Lavelle is saying he will be up very soon to replace one of the starting Outfielders. If you thought Buxton was ready in March, what has changed in 24 at bats? If you weren't sure if he was ready, why in the hell didn't you have a backup plan a month ago? Same goes for Rosario. Why is Arcia on the team if Murphy is needed for some reason? None of this makes sense.
  19. And now he has Kepler on the bench today, Park back in the lineup. Can someone please explain to me what in the world he is doing. How does this make any sense with Rodon on the mound yesterday, and Latos today
  20. I would guess the point of the original post was, if you put together a lineup like this, composed of high k, low obp guys like this, you are prone to pretty heavy slumps. I would say especially at a beginning of the season when pitchers are generally "ahead" of hitters anyways. Of course the RISP is going to improve great, of course they are going to score runs. But I think the roster construction plays into the 8 game struggle
  21. FWIW - Shore was not in Keith Law's top 50 draft prospects. I asked him if he was close/considered and his was response was a simple "no." I said interesting, as I've heard the Twins floating his name (local kid and all) and he said re; Shore "it's not that kind of stuff at all"
  22. To be fair, I think you were the only one who brought up situational hitting. The original post commented on the poor lineup construction (heavily right handed (my words), swing and miss guys, with low OBP)
  23. AME Sports tweeted multiple cheap shots for no apparent about Mauer before the season. Extremely unprofessional for a business that relies on Twins players for promotion. I won't give them $1, and I think its disappointing Rosario and the Twins are apparently working with them on this.
  24. Short answer, yes I think they should be sellers. I think if things continue to go down the drain, they should get the young guys the most amount of at bats and innings as possible. They should sell but at the same time, contend next season. I'd move as many of the following players as possible Dozier Plouffe Santana Hughes Nolasco Milone Perkins Jepsen
  25. 8 games. 24 At bats. And he's the best/ most important (since he plays next to Sano) defender by far. Has anyone suggesting sending him down and use Rosario in Center seen his at bats? Has anyone suggesting Mastro ever seen him play? 8 games in this already has the looks of a lost season. Get Buxton the ML at bats he needs. If major changes need to be made come May and June, I'm looking to trade Dozier to free up 2B for Polanco. Looking to trade Santana or Hughes, etc. I'm not sending my future best players to AAA.
