  1. I truly believe TRyan is making it up as he goes, so I can't say I'm all that surprised. Equally horrified in the process and decision making from the man in charge, yet just not that surprised
  2. I'd rather see Rosario out there than Santana, but you can't be serious quoting UZR for the 40 some innings Rosario has played in CF....
  3. It's not a quote. But this is the original tweet from Mike Berardino: "Losing John Hicks on waivers was done in anticipation of calling up David Murphy, Terry Ryan said. That was the plan until convo w/Murphy." So yeah, we may be missing the exact quote, but this isn't hearsay, this was reported by a reporter directly after his conversation with Ryan
  4. Not sure I follow, Hicks was out righted to clear a spot for Murphy, Murphy decided to go home instead, that's straight from the horses mouth David Murphy knew he had nothing left. Professional scout Terry Ryan didn't
  5. http://www.twincities.com/2016/04/25/minnesota-twins-veteran-of-david-murphy-asks-for-release/ Murphy played in 10 games and received 36 at-bats for Rochester, playing mostly corner outfield. Ryan was on hand to watch Murphy play a handful of games last week. In fact, the GM was so encouraged he tried to outright Triple-A catcher John Hicks off the 40-man roster in advance of a Murphy promotion It might be a fire able offense for some organizations, but the Twins GM has no accountability. Hopefully more crowds like tonight will start hitting the Pohlads in the pocket book and they might consider alternatives
  6. Unfortunately you gave Terry Ryan far to much credit with this guess. He told reporters today that Hicks was out righted off the 40 man to clear a spot for Murphy
  7. I mean he's at .200/.357/.218 in AAA. It almost HAS to be an infielder if they are intent on Danny Santana being the regular center fielder, right? They don't currently have a backup infielder Or dare I say, Sano goes back to 3rd, Nunez becomes the backup around the IF, and Arcia and Rosario play in the corners? Then theoretically Mastro would be the 4th OFer
  8. This is shocking (in a good way). But ummm. How do they get back to a 12 or 13 position player 25 man roster now? In a way, does this make today's moves even more confusing (even though most of us I'm sure are happy Murphy won't be on the roster)?
  9. I wouldn't even have Santana on the roster, so I definitely would not worry about stunting his development. Kepler showed in the minimal amount of at bats he might be able to take the most professional at bats of anyone on the roster not named Mauer. Who knows why he wasn't given more.
  10. The explanation I keep hearing is "Kepler needs to play every day"... umm, ok, the Twins have an opening in CF. Every day. Problem solved.
  11. They have 11 hitters on the roster. They will have 12 hitters on the roster by Wednesday at the latest. Murphy as far as I can see if the only option. Are you just trying to play semantics here or what?
  12. I'm the biggest Buxton backer there is, and I have no issue with demoting him. However I will scream until I'm red in the face about how they chose to do it. Danny Santana, who hit like Buxton over 91 games last year is the replacement, David Murphy who should be playing across the river in St. Paul is going to get major at bats, Kepler for some reason was not an option, etc. Complete and utter incompetency
  13. Didn't we all spend 3 months this off-season discussing how there was no plan? Pats everyone on the back, good work guys
  14. I think its far more likely you'll see; Murphy - Santana - Sano in the outfield than what you are hoping for, Arcia - Rosario - Sano
  15. So tonight there is going to be 14 pitchers on the roster, 11 hitters. Tomorrow or Wednesday, David Murphy will be called up, likely for Duffey. That will leave them with 0 center fielders, 2 guys who can fake out it there, but can't hit in Rosario and Santana. Murphy, Arcia and Sano as the corner outfielders. Rosario as well on days Santana plays CF. And no backup infielders on days Santana plays CF. I need to start drinking more.
  16. May and Jepsen pitched 1 inning yesterday, their only innings all weekend. Abad 2 innings, his only work all weekend Fien, 1 inning yesterday, 1 on Friday O'Rourke is really the only one I can see for sure not available tonight, he could easily have been sent down today. Instead they are rolling with a TWO man bench tonight
  17. Arguably 2 of the best 5 starting arms in the System are now in the Twins bullpen. One is in the Rochester rotation.
  18. The owner said before the season that Molitor has a lifetime contract, and so does the GM. The only chance Molitor is fired is if Terry Ryan decides to retire (PLEASE GOD), again, and they actually go outside the organization to make a new GM hire. So, like a .00001% chance
  19. 40 man roster spot open, 16 inning game with Milone seemingly available on 3 days rest out of the pen, staring down a 5-14 record. Berrios being available to start Tuesday's game. I mean the stars aligned, and they wouldn't go to Milione. So I really have no faith we will see him in the next couple of weeks.
  20. I'm as ready as I can be, because I fully expect that to happen. All of their problems will be solved with a Murphy - Rosario - Sano outfield! And Danny Santana ready to fill in 5 times a week* Arcia on the bench obviously because he had a bad game once last week *Let's just ignore that Rosario and Santana are as bad of hitters as the current version of Buxton
  21. If someone has a logical explanation for why they are under the assumption David Murphy is needed, I'm all ears. I keep hearing through the FO mouth pieces in the media that he was signed to "send a message" to the young guys like Buxton. But he isn't a Buxton replacement, if the Twins want to demote Buxton they have Santana being activated, and Kepler should be the every day CFer in that scenario.
  22. Changes I would make; Activate Santana, demote Duffey (This is just a given so I'm listing it here - I actually don't want anything to do with Santana) Milone to bullpen, Berrios added to 40 man and MLB rotation. O'Rourke demoted Find a taker for Plouffe, if I can get a couple low minors wild card prospects, or maybe an MLB reliever, I do it. My lineup (vs righties); Mauer (1B) Kepler (RF) Sano (3B) Arcia (LF) Park (DH) Dozier (2B) Escobar (SS) Suzuki/Murphy © Buxton (CF) I'm giving Buxton a few more weeks of every day at bats. I'm on the record with unless his confidence goes down the drain, you keep running him out there... but I do understand at some point he has to stop striking out every other at bat. Rosario starts twice a week somewhere in the outfield, defensive replacement for Arcia other days. Danny Santana sits on the bench Eduardo Nunez plays for Dozier once a week, Escobar maybe twice a week.
  23. Remember when people said Berrios couldn't be called up because the 40 man roster was so precious and he wasn't on it? And then the Twins released a needed catcher from it so they could add a 34 year old left handed hitting corner OF/Dh of which they already have 3 who are better and potentially part of the future (Arcia, Rosario, Kepler)? That was fun. This season has been fun
  24. There's a lot of things I wish someone with access would ask Molitor. In Kepler's 1st 8 days here or whatever, he started one game, against a lefty... why? Danny Santana was the worst hitter in baseball in 2015, why did he bat 2nd 3 times in the 1st week? I could go on but it's too early in the week to get too worked up.
  25. Plouffe should be traded tomorrow. I've said it all offseason and I'll say it again. The team is better without him playing, offensively and defensively. He won't be traded, and I would say he's a non tender candidate next year... $9-$10 million can be better spent elsewhere Sano 3B, Kepler RF is your best lineup tomorrow, next month, next year, etc. Arcia can get plenty of at bats vs righties filling in for any of the 3 outfielders (Rosario, Buxton, Kepler) or Park
