  1. Kind of the exact opposite of last season, no? Nearly last in AL in all those stats, but record in the middle half?
  2. Again, my original point is the new, younger guys who have come up are not given opportunities. Tonkin has spent parts of 3 seasons now on the MLB roster. He is a prime example of what I'm talking about, I've seen they have never been willing to trust him
  3. I'll stick with my original point. Fien stinks, has for awhile. At some point if the only hope for a bad bullpen to improve is young guys, they are going to actually need to use/ trust them. Also, Tonkin was forced into action because of extra innings, and pitched well. Let's not act like it was the Twins saying "maybe its time to give this guy a real shot". Fien pitched the 8th inning of that game vs the heart of the Angels order, and after walking Trout gave up a 400 foot flyout to Pujols.
  4. I'm not worried about promotions right now. I'm referencing guys specifically who do come up, and get buried in the 'pen and clearly aren't "trusted". Tonkin the last couple years, Rogers in his week in the majors... I'm sure others can help me out with many other examples. They come off as extremely hesitant to use these guys in any meaningful role
  5. Rogers has been a starter his whole career, no? 9 k/9 over the last couple of years as a starter I wouldn't say is "not so much". We seem to give a bump to every other starter turned reliever, I'm not sure why Rogers wouldn't get that benefit of the doubt.
  6. It's interesting that a team so determined to not get outside help for the bullpen, because of all the young, up and coming guys... is SO reluctant to actually use/ trust the "young guys".
  7. It would be pretty amazing if he was... someone tweeted at Doogie 30 minutes ago and said he is on the field taking BP in Rochester.
  8. That makes some sense, but I think we all would've assumed the same with Kepler, primary backup at multiple positions... considering Buxton, Park and Rosario were struggling, Buxton missed 3 games with an injury... and Kepler started what, 1 game?
  9. Sadly they've blown the Wolves out of the water when it comes to the "Country Club". And yeah, I think it's pretty obvious they are extremely comfortable with the "known" commodities.
  10. *Shudders at the thought... yet nods head
  11. LOL. This organization is unbelievable.
  12. I'll take the over... None of us have any idea on the severity, but this injury usually keeps a player out 4-6 weeks.
  13. Adam Jones has half the number of extra base hits, the same amount of walks, and a 43% K rate. So, I guess fairly valid. I mean you've already told me the 14 or 24 at bats, whatever they have is all you need to see * Just a note to anyone just reading this post, I'm only being facetious. I don't actually believe Adam Jones is done based off of 14 at bats, just trying to convey the absurdity of some of these judgments based on 7 games
  14. Ditto. We're spinning wheels here. I will never agree that even 150 plate appearances is an accurate sample size, let alone 24. And it appears others aren't going to believe in the Buxton tools until they see it in the bigs, certainly your right.
  15. Might as well write these All Stars off as well, they HAVE to be over the hill, no? Todd Frazier is 6/37 Kyle Seager is 5/33 Adam Jones is 2/14 Freddie Freeman 2/25
  16. He was an older high school senior, who missed practically a whole year of development due to injury. I think it means he may be a tad bit behind, but I personally don't think it means a damn thing going forward.
  17. Can you just step back from the Buxton-hate for a moment and re-read this a few times... He has had 24 at bats in 7+ games! No, it doesnt seem unusual AT ALL, because it has been a freaking week and a half.
  18. I thought it was fairly obvious what I was responding to. You said he's not "THAT raw -- 22 years old, 4 pro seasons, 1200+ pro PA", and then concluded based on last years ~140 at bats and this years 24 at bats that he can't be McCutcheon.. I then pointed out where McCutcheon was when he reached that threshold of PA.
  19. I haven't seen anyone say that? I don't think he will reach his full potential this year, but I think he will be very productive in the 2nd half.
  20. Through 1200 plate PA McCutcheon was just reaching AAA (2007) , where he would spend the entire next season (2008), and 1st half of the following (2009)
  21. McCutcheon had nearly twice the amount of minor league at bats as Buxton. I would say its fair to expect he be more ready to hit immediately. In fact, there's other threads where people think Buxton should be sent down because the AAA at bats are needed (I don't agree, he'll work it out fine up here). So - he can't be compared to McCutcheon because of Age 22 numbers (a whopping 24 at bats for one of them!), but MILB plate appearances / at bats are meaningless... do I have that right?
  22. We're at the point of breaking out extremely small sample sizes (150 plate appearances) into even tinier sample sizes. I think I will bow out now. I look forward to laughing at this thread in a few years.
  23. I'm not sure what this means. Buxton at 21 was in the majors (struggling). McCutcheon's Age 21 season was spent entirely at AAA (512 At bats), which he repeated for another 49 games and 200 at bats at 22. What does a bit more advanced in age and experience mean?
  24. He kind of made my point for me. Trout was very bad in 2011, and has turned out ok I would say. I know the numbers don't match up exactly.
  25. Trout numbers not all that impressive, it's almost like 130 at bats don't mean much, seeing as he should've won AL MVP in 2012. *Top prospect who missed virtually all of 2014, and a chunk in 2015, FWIW. I'm curious what the point of threads like this is? Are people suggesting we should run Buxton out of town for his performance to date, if not now, when?
