  1. Yes, I think hiring multiple employees, which they have done, including a President, costs significant money. Do you really think using their full draft allotment on Lewis, Rooker, Leach, Enlow, etc. in someway makes you more profitable than if you used the same full draft allotment on Greene or McKay, and others?
  2. I'll just end this now. Try to be smarter. 1) You don't know that was the guy they wanted 2) They paid under slot so they could draft the 29th ranked prospect at #76 3) Again, they are paying THE EXACT SAME amount of money to draft picks
  3. "but again it comes down to money." In literally no way does it come down to cheapness. They will spend the exact same amount of money on Lewis + the remaining picks, as they would have on McKay (Or Greene) and the remaining picks
  4. What kool-aid? It's literally a fact that the same amount of money will be spent on their draft, as it would have if they had taken Greene like you preferred. Like it's not a debateable point or argument to even have.
  5. Sorry, but no that logic is not solid. It does not matter who went 37 and who went 76. They had a total to spend on those 2 picks of around $2.6 million. It doesn't matter who gets what, where. Also, how do you know they rated Leach 85-100. Have you considered its possible they had him in their top 30? Top 40?
  6. The Twins have used 2 top-6 picks on pitchers in the past 4 years
  7. All of the moves that have been made are for profitability not winning? Like replacing Terry Ryan with 2 people, and allowing those 2 to hire out an analytics department, new minor league staffs, scouts, etc. To suggest that Falvey was told before the draft to draft for profit is laughable. Give me a break
  8. Rooker is not a Senior, he has a year of eligibility left.
  9. Just curious... how big of reach was Noah Syndergaard at 38 in 2010?
  10. They don't have to cut either loose (But if they cut Santana loose, who cares). They could remove Boshers from the 40 man, add Park. And have a 12 man pitching staff like every other team
  11. Gotcha. Yeah he hasn't been a 200 inning per year guy, but there are injuries starting to pop up, and he's about to start his 10th season in the majors. Some mileage on him for sure. Yeah Gibson had a stress fracture his junior year, but it didn't affect his innings pitched, he started 15 games and threw over 100 inning
  12. Has Sano played 1B at all this Spring? I'm not sure why people think that is an option at this point. Eventually, no doubt.
  13. What am I missing here - isn't this Hughes age 31 season? Why do we keep looking at through age 28 numbers? Also - Gibson didn't miss time in college with his stress fracture, it was right before the draft
  14. They could've had Duffey start in Rochester on the same day Hughes starts in MN, if that were the plan. And have a DH (Park) and a pinch hit option (Grossman) on the roster to start the year
  15. Yup I get that, but he's still likely behind Rogers, Breslow, Pressley and Belisle in the "just need a couple of outs" race... so the question is... how many damn relievers do you need?
  16. Right, Tonkin is another option that could be used for more than 1 inning. Barring a totally unforseen scenario, like starters lasting 1 inning on back to back days... there will be at least 1 pitcher, possibly more, who are hardly used in the 1st 2 weeks
  17. You never need 2 long men, especially with 2 off days in the 1st 8 days of the season. I don't know why people are so willing to believe this organizations propoganda
  18. Just to be clear, is it Haley or Hughes that you are comparing to Jose Quintana, the pitcher I've seen picked by a few to win AL Cy Young this year.
  19. 7 pitchers made starts last April. 5 of the 7 averaged 5 and change innings or less per start. They still used basically 7 relievers. Berrios 1 start 4 innings Santana and Milone each had 4 starts 20 innings Duffey 2 starts 10.1 innings Gibson 4 starts 20.2 innings You don't need 8 relievers ever, let alone in April with the early off days. Ps; Haley does count if he's on the 25 man roster
  20. The Twins have 2 off days in the 1st 8 days of the season. 8 relievers are not necessary What evidence are you basing this off of? To give you an example, last year the Twins played 24 games in April. 1 game lasted 16 innings 1 game lasted 12 innings 1 game lasted 10 innings 1 game lasted 6 innings. They had 7 relief pitchers who were used for more than 2 innings in April. They are carrying 8 right now, including 1 (Duffey) who they want to keep stretched out (multiple innings)
  21. You don't even need to expose him to waivers. You need to only expose him to Boston (I believe)
  22. Back to back posts, 1 where your assertion is its cold so lots of pitchers are needed (even though there are two off days in the 1st 8 days), and then the 2nd post says you can't hit home runs if its cold.
  23. Because I like baseball. But I'm very unlikely to go to Target Field (usually attend 5-10 games a year), at least until I sense the organization is headed in a direction I agree with.
  24. I'm sorry but someone who the best thing you can say about them is they are not totally overmatched as a defender and can't hit doesn't sound like a Major League Baseball player to me.
  25. In all seriousness, what would your definition of a terrible super utility player be then? Because we KNOW he can't hit, and is a below avg defender at nearly every position he plays
