  1. Thoughts on why Sano was terrific last year, and now he just ........sucks??
  2. I'm an old retired guy that has always looked to baseball and the Twins for some entertainment. This entertainment is like watching the Republican debates to see what crazy things Donald Trump would come up with! Right now I'd hope the Twins start playing some guys who look like they care. What do I know, but to me that looks like Escobar, Grossman, Arcia, Nunez, and maybe Centeno.
  3. I think Pat was trying to make some "tongue in cheek" comments. I didn't necessarily agree with all of his comparisons, but I got the point I think he was trying to make!
  4. Trevor May's last 4 games: 3 Innings 8 Hits 10 Runs 4 HR's P.S. If Polanco doesn't start for Dozier tomorrow-I quit!
  5. Someone needs to take a bat to a water cooler! Does anyone ever do that now?
  6. I've been watching baseball for over 50 years, and this is the most hapless team I can remember. Do the players even care?
  7. Mike Max, on tonight's 6:20 WCCO sports, said Sano has some major issues, such as not taking instruction, and the Twins are thinking very seriously about sending him down to send a message.
  8. Darin Mastrioni (sp) for one.........
  9. Danny Santana is NOT the worse player in baseball. I'm going to resist the urge to expound further so I won't get any warning points, but you need to get a grip, dude!
  10. Tongue was firmly in planted in cheek, Dave!
  11. I think the "real" reason they sent Berrios down is that they expect Hughes to get shelled tonight, and need Rogers to go multiple innings like Dean did last night.
  12. Of all the current pitchers, Duffy is my favorite. Not the most talented (Berrios), but the most fun to watch. I love his attitude and fight: you can tell he is a guy who was not respected going through the system, and realizes that every pitch counts. Doc pointed out in his great write up that he is labeled as a two pitch guy, but today got a big strikeout on a change to end one Cleveland rally, and struck out Kipnis on a cutter! Duffy is going to battle you until they pry the ball out of his bleeding hand!! I'm hoping that bulldog attitude will rub off on the rest of the staff.
  13. Ah- what are your plans for Mauer? Just disappear?
  14. Are you willing to give Mastro one of the 40 man spots? For a player that was already released by 2 teams? I understand your point about a temporary move, but not for that spot.
  15. You hate to see anybody DFA'd, but this is a good move. I can imagine the owners hyperventilating over the loss of fans at the turnstile. In my world, I wouldn't mind O'Rourke sent down or put on waivers also. He was supposed to be a situational lefty, but Molly has had to use him to eat innings lately, and it hasn't worked out well. In addition, the catching situation has to be addressed. It was painful to watch Murphy hit in yesterday's game: every plate appearance was critical (what-11 runners stranded?), and it's hard to win games in which you have one position that does not contribute to the offense.
  16. When was the last time we had a catcher who count hit? Oh yea............now I remember!
  17. I guess Rosterman and I are on the same page. When I was adding my post, I saw that he had added his wise advise previously.
  18. I think what we might be seeing is something like the 1980's Twins teams. Those players-Hrbek, Laudner, Gaetti, Viola, and Puckett- had one decent year (1982??), but struggled mightily while they took their lumps and did a lot of losing. Brunansky and Gagne came a little later, but they all grew up together and were the basis for 1987 and 1991. Are any of the current players in that class? Maybe, but it appears our hitters are pretty much what you see now( with the ultimate additions of Buxton, Kepler, and Gordon). It also appears we should have plenty of excellent pitching in the pipeline, and a trade in that area might add a significant hitter. But, IMO, their is nothing you can do immediately with this present group. The roster construction just won't allow that to occur. I think the addition of Plouffe will help, but that is also going to add confusion of who plays where and who sits. What hurt this group the most, again IMO, was the signings of Hughes, Santana, and Nolasco. Were the Twins that close to be a contending team? Was there no hope that our pitchers in the minors wouldn't develop? I guess patience is what's needed, and hopefully a plan is developed for this team to succeed.
  19. Here's my basic point. Most fans have favorite players. Here in Minnesota you see it in Buxton, Sano, Mauer, and Dozier jerseys. I'm a Danny Santana guy- not a very popular position to take. But he's my guy.
  20. I can't help myself: as probably the only member of the Danny Santana fan club, I'm relishing his performance since coming off the DL. No other player in recent memory, with apologies to Ricky Nolasco and Tim Stauffler, has received so much unwarranted criticism, IMO. I would guess 95% of Twins Daily posters wanted him gone. He was ripped for poor defense, lack of hitting, poor attitude, and being mean to his mother and baby kitties! Many posters exclaimed the only reason he was on the roster was because of a perceived liking by Molly. And on, and on, and on. Let's be clear: Santana did not play well in 2015. After hitting .319 in 2014, everyone proclaimed his extremely high BABIP was an outlier, and when he had a bad start in 2015, most experts thought they had their answer. Edwardo Escobar was the fan favorite, and when Danny struggled, TD readers were up in arms. When Escobar finally became the starter, most thought Santana was toast. Fans should not be surprised. Torii Hunter went back to the minors 3 times before he became a fixture in the Twins lineup. Michael Cuddyer struggled mightily before finally finding his niche. Trevor Plouffe was drafted as a SS as was Brian Dozier, and both were returned to the minors with perceived attitude problems. Justin Morneau was considered a bust until Gardy had a heart-to-heart with him. I probably have jinxed the poor guy, now. Look for a 0-20 starting today. But if he has learned how to relax and got a better handle on what it takes to play in the bigs, look what we have. 1. A lead off guy with good speed 2. A player who can play 6 positions 3. A switch hitter with extra base potential 4. A great bunter to help his OBP It has to be tough for these young Latin kids to adjust to life in the big leagues. The language barrier, life without family members, the struggles with success and failure, and no one to really talk to when these problems arise, are but a few of the issues these kids have to deal with. I'm not saying Danny Santana is a superstar. But if he can be an everyday player with some success, the Twins chances of becoming a really good team just got easier!
  21. Great day for all Twins fans! However, it sucks that Berrios will make his major league debut in 50 degree weather, with 50-60% chance of rain.
  22. If the Twins do indeed add 2 players (hitters), who are your candidates to take off the 40 man? Dean, perhaps?
  23. God forbid, but if one of the catchers gets hurt, who is next? And what is the best guess as to who comes up to fill out our amazing bench? How soon will Plouffe be ready?
  24. Ecstatic to hear Murphy isn't in their plans! If they are going to lose, let's lose with our young guys and let them get some experience! Also glad to see Buxton and Kepler getting everyday AB's!
