  1. And who plays short, Lewis isn't going anywhere this year, he is your third baseman.
  2. I seem to recall Falvey saying that Bell was signed to be the primary first baseman. If that is correct then I am not sure Zoll was on board with the signing of if he was, for the same reasons. That said I think Zoll is a placeholder in the GM role and is not much different than Falvey.
  3. For everyone who is wondering where Roden or ERod would play if called up. There is a very easy solution, left field. They obviously are not going to play Martin there against RH pitching, so one of those two could play there. Then Larnach slides to DH and Clemens moves to the bench where he belongs. Again play your best nine players and I will take the upside of Roden or ERod over Clemens any day.
  4. Can we please end the Outman experience for our sanity.
  5. It looks like Shelton got the word from the front office, play Outman.
  6. For those who keep saying Buxton should be traded, most of you know he can't be traded without his permission. Why keep banging this drum. He has to realistically know the odds of this team winning and at least his public comments indicate he wants to be here. And to some degree I believe him, he does seem like the type of person that does want to play on one team and does value loyalty. We already have prospects that we could call up, but can this field staff develop them better than the previous staff. To keep trading for more prospects is not going to work if you won't play and develop them.
  7. I am glad Martin is in CF for Buxton today and not Outman. But in what world is Clemens the leadoff hitter especially with Martin in the lineup.
  8. The only player in the organization that should move Lee off of SS is Culpepper. Gray is the utility guy and should be the one moving around.
  9. Gray did what you want your bench players to do, he helped to contribute to a win with a nice hit. But he is still what he is, a journeyman utility infielder. You need your bench guys to contribute when they come in but that doesn't mean that success will translate when put in an every day role. They need to give Lee a shot longer than 7 games or else he shouldn't have started the season as the starting SS. If they move on, it needs to be to Culpepper, not a journeyman. Clemens is a great example of some success doesn't translate to an every day role even though they are trying hard to make him into a regular. Wallner needs to play, if by the end of May he doesn't start to produce then it may be time to move on. Sending him down at this point, means he has no future with the team and it is way too early to consider. They did this in 24 with him after only 25 ab's, every player can have struggles over a 25 ab stretch, you need to have some patience.
  10. I am not a fan of Clemens being our regular first baseman, needs to be limited to 2 or 3 starts a week.
  11. Again no Martin, he has earned a shot at being an every day player. Yes he may be a placeholder for ERod and Jenkins but he should be the leadoff hitter and not Clemens. Why did they sign Bell if he isn't playing 1B, Clemens is not an every day player. This obsession with the handedness of hitters and pitchers has to balanced out.
  12. Hopefully Abel improves on his ace like performance today if you want him to lead us to the playoffs. I think there is potential there, but let's see some sustained production in the regular season before we anoint him a savior or even a set in stone member of the rotation.
  13. Remember this game when members of this board call for the Twins to piggyback pitchers. It doesn't work, they pitched the 6th and 7th innings as if they were more concerned with Abel getting his work in then trying to win the game. I know the bullpen is weak, but it was obvious Shelton managed the game differently today vs, yesterday. This was only one of the many reasons for the loss today, but we need to develop players throughout the roster that can actually play the game, get runs in and prevent runs.
  14. Bradley right now is a #5 pitcher, your top 3 has to give you more than 4 innings. Until he can command his stuff with consistency he will continue to be a back of the rotation pitcher who probably should move to the bullpen. If Abel builds off his strong spring he will be fun to watch but let's see what happens now that it counts.
  15. Culpepper should be playing shortstop, let the vets who are only organizational depth at this point play 3B and 2B. He is not a utility player at this point let him develop at short. It is one thing to flip between the corner outfield spots but Culpepper should not be getting moved around.
  16. Bradley was who he has been and why the Rays traded him. He has not been able to find consistency and does have good stuff. I really hope they can unlock something with him but otherwise I think he would be the candidate to move to the bullpen.
  17. No you should said better than Clemens, not compared to the rest of the league.
  18. Buxton, Keaschall, Wallner, Jeffers, Larnach, Martin, Bell. Martin earned a shot at playing full time this year based on last year, Clemens has not.
  19. No Clemens is not one of the better hitters on the team, he had a decent spring training but he has no upside. He was a waiver pickup riding his three week hot streak to immortality with the Twins.
  20. What is the fascination with Clemens, he is a role player and should get 200 AB's for the year. I know it is only the second game of the year but it really feels like they want Clemens to be a semi regular player. He had one good three week stretch in his whole career and that was last year. Martin earned a chance to be playing every day and should be given the chance but I don't think it's going to happen.
  21. On the fly ball to left, Martin didn't get behind the ball either but this goes back to development. They gave him minimal time in the outfield in the minors even though that was where it appeared he would end up. So now he is learning in the big leagues and yes he is a major league ballplayer but reps and being comfortable do matter. Remember this when Keaschall is thrown out there next. And I still like Martin but it looks like he will playing against LH pitching just like two years ago. As for pinch hitting for Lewis, if he is your one of your core players as their words and actions have said, you don't pinch hit for him in game 1. Now if he is struggling in May or June then that is a different story. I watched a little bit of Shelton's press conference after the game and it sure sounds like he is more concerned with what hand the pitcher throws from and hit a batter from the opposite side regardless of matchup or how that player is doing that day. So as others have said nothing has changed which was my biggest fear would happen. They do not want to develop players they just try to outsmart the other team on every matchup. But the best players ultimately win, so let's put our best players out there. And it is not Kody Clemens, who may end up being the new Margot.
  22. First I didn't understand the acquistion of Roden like others have pointed out. He is another prospect that plays a position that we have a surplus of prospects already. Will any of them make it be at least average or productive major leaguers, we will see. Outman had one good year, and at his age, his acquisition made not sense either. And I am not convinced his defense is that superior, I have seen enough misplayed fly balls from him that makes me question his defensive chops. A lot of comments say Outman will be gone by May or June if he doesn't produce and the kids will be called up. We don't know because we do not know how Zoll will operate. I am concerned he will be similar to Falvey and the only way someone comes up is thru injury. Just like Wallner two years ago was kept down for a month and a half longer than he should just so we could see guys like Margot flail away. I really hope there is a short leash and they give the kids a chance. You can't keep waiting until they are until 26 or 27 to see if they can make it here in the majors.
  23. I do not believe Gray would make the team over Martin. Unless he is the backup SS but that would mean Kreidler is sent to St. Paul. You can't keep both Gray and Kreidler on the roster.
  24. No they haven't changed. Keeping Outman around when he brings no real value to the organization is just more of the same business as usual. I am not sold on Roden but make him the fourth outfielder up here and not clog AB's for the kids in AAA. That is a better use of assets if you aren't going to bring any of them up. This team operates from a model of fear, ever since they had to go their 8th and 9th outfielders in 2022. No team could withstand that amount of injuries to one position and you can't operate like that will happen. Injuries happen and sometimes you can withstand the loss and other time there are just too many to overcome.
