  1. He's got a bad knee should have held him at third and have bases loaded.
  2. It was Kreidler thrown out, I am not sure why you are blaming Caratini.
  3. The rookie shortstops on both sides impacting this inning.
  4. Green is having surgery on his elbow. And for pitchers it is 15 days.
  5. It was a play that should have been made, but it was not a routine ground ball. He was charging it with a speedy runner coming down the line. That is one thing that speed does for you, it speeds up the defense.
  6. This umpire is having a tough night behind the plate, it is hard to challenge everything.
  7. Why is Caratini in the lineup tonight, looking at a third strike right down the middle.
  8. Because Caratini had a career month in June, I wouldn't expect that going forward. We don't need a catcher now, but there is typically one available to be signed and I don't really care who it is. They have signed catchers in August and September as have other teams, rosters are not static throughout the major leagues.
  9. If Jeffers goes down, it won't matter who is behind the plate, because neither Caratini or Jackson are starters or even half time players at catcher. If Caratini goes down and what is the probability of that, I am going to take the risk of grabbing someone off the waiver wire. There won't be a huge dropoff from Jackson for a backup catcher. You don't want to take risk, fine but I am willing to take that risk to improve the roster now.
  10. You go out and sign somebody off the waiver wire, it's not that difficult. You can't plan for every contingency, worry about today. And you might want to find a new hobby. lol
  11. He has a -2 WAR for his career. Those catchers are all available in the offseason for a backup. We traded Payton Eeles for him, not exactly a promising prospect. I will continue my comments as I see fit, you like to tell me to not post things, but you can always scroll but you refuse to. There are many others who feel the same as I do about Jackson and I have not any responses to them. Now with the number of comments on this post, I may have missed one but I doubt it.
  12. If he is hurt then put him on the IL. But I am suspecting this is more of a TD injury than anything else. But they can stop forcing him into the lineup, he has not earned the playing time they are giving him.
  13. Call up Jenkins, then you have a bench of Kreidler-13th man, defensive replacement, Martin-play against LH pitching, can pinch run as well, even though he is not always the smartest runner I know; Caratini-backup catcher and Roden right now until Buxton is back to play in the outfield once a week and pinch hit if needed. Edit: In this scenario you could have Wallner up instead of Roden, he would be a strong pinch hitting option, he has at least had success previously in the majors.
  14. I remember that now, but none of us know to what extent he is hurt or injured. Again they keep trying to force him into the lineup like tonight and he has not earned regular playing time like they are giving him.
  15. When did he hurt his knee, I missed that to be honest. He may be 0 for 20 because he is not that good of a hitter. He had a career month in June, he is more the May and July version as a hitter. I am not going to give him an excuse for not hitting. For someone hurt, they sure seem to be running him out a lot trying to fit him into the lineup.
  16. And the union will go along with that if he isn't really hurt. I know he looked he was favoring his knee, but you can't just tell someone to go on the IL unless they are really hurt. And you still have to rip the bandaid at some point with Jackson if they are still in the race which I do doubt but if they are, it is mismanagement to carry three catchers. And Jackson just isn't worth roster gymnastics they are going thru to keep him here. And on 9/1 you are only adding one position player when the rosters expand.
  17. My whole point is revolving around Jackson and his lack of a role on this team. I want 13 players that can contribute to the team by having a defined role, Jackson has no role other than they are worried about losing for 2027.
  18. My point is if you want that as a role on the team, put somebody with real speed on the team like a Tolbert from KC. Jackson has no role on this team other than being worried losing him for 2027.
  19. Not sure that the best option for a pinch runner should be your 3rd string catcher, but that is the state of this wonderfully constructed roster.
  20. Thank you for the comment, but there are many disagreeing with me on this take and I really don't know what to say anymore.
  21. I have no idea what you are saying. Many comments have been about losing Jackson and not having a backup catcher for next year. My point is you can find another backup catcher this offseason for $1.3m the same as Jackson. So all this anxiety is misplaced in my opinion. Jackson has no role on this team and to carry him when you say you are a contender is mismanagement of the roster. I want 13 players that can serve some role on helping the team win. In this case I am not worrying about 2027 because backup catcher is an easy position to fill at his production level. And they signaled they want Caratini as the starter next year when they signed him last offseason, as foolish as it may be.
  22. If they call up Jenkins they have enough guys to cover CF. I think what we have seen from Kreidler the last 6 weeks is more of who he is. He came in with a career .133 batting average. I would shoot for something higher or more upside for next year.
