  1. Because Houston will be playing SS and Culpepper will be moved to 2B. I contend that Houston is a better fielder at SS than anyone in the Twins organization right now.
  2. Marek Houston is batting .327 with a .921 OPS. He has been on base in 22 straight games. Yes, yes, I know it is "just AA."....but he could be brought up now and start his career at SS. Or would you rather have Tristan Gray at SS when Kreidler is in CF?
  3. SS, catcher, CF and 2B. Up the middle position excellence is a good strategy for sustained success. 3B has become a more important fielding position than it used to be long ago, due to shifts. Now for some flame throwing lefty pitchers.
  4. Beautifully written piece about a great baseball game. It deserves a FIFA "Piece" Prize.
  5. The Twins can win this division. I predict they will. They are peaking and playing the Royals. Stomp ,em Twins. Then they need to break even against the Phillies, Braves and Brewers. No easy task, but doable.
  6. That is way too much to trade for Hunter Goodman. Tait, Keaschall and Quick will all be productive big league starters for years. Plus Lackey will be a fast riser at catcher. Possibly 2028. We have Caratini for 2027.
  7. Cory Provus' call of Lewis's triple was a classic. "The Twins win. the Twins win."
  8. I humbly predict that ESPN outsider, Jeff Passan , is wrong about Jeffers being trade to the evil empire. Mr. Passan, send me your address , so I can mail the crow to you.
  9. Good question. It does not change my mind about trading Jeffers. Don't trade Jeffers unless there is an offer the Twins can't refuse. The Twins are on the cusp of greatness. I hope those that advocate trading Ryan will think about this and realize this is sorta the situation the Twins will be in next year if Ryan is traded now. I know Lopez will be back, but Lopez may not be as effective next year after his injury.
  10. Ryan Jeffers is going to be a very rich man in 6 months. I am happy for him and his family. I met his future wife in a North Carolina fast food restaurant on my way to a North Carolina beach. I had on my Twins hat and a Twins Ft Myers spring training shirt. An attractive young lady, who was also a customer, came up to me and told me she had noticed my Twins hat and shirt and that her fiancé' had just been drafted by the Twins. She told me his name was Ryan Jeffers, who was from Raleigh and had played at UNC-Wilmington. I told her I knew a lot about her fiancé's baseball skills and was glad the Twins drafted him. I wished them both good luck. He became, and has remained, one of my all time favorite players. He appears to be humble, family oriented, polite and a great catcher. When he is traded, I will be sad.
  11. Great point CH. I am looking for any advantage to win, be it past knowledge while on the opponent's team, sign stealing, inches, mental games, or some teams even have resorted to looking to garbage cans. But I think I will agree with your point about the vast array of information that is already available to all the teams in this information age.
  12. I do not want a realistic scenario. I want to fleece another team or not trade at all. I want the Twins to let all the other 29 organizations know that the Twins organization is a force to be reconned with and is not desperate to trade. Look at the Twins' strong farm system. The farm harvest in the ground will be plentiful.
  13. But if his new employer is rich and under tremendous pressure from its fans and the media to win every year and needs a right handed hitting catcher...then "Show me the money, Jerry"!
  14. I don't think another Caratini would be that easy to find. I have been very please with his skills and his baseball knowledge The man is a baseball player.
  15. Here is a question, Matthew. What if Jeffers is traded to the Yankees or Rays. And what if Jeffers, with his insider's knowledge of the Twins' hitters and pitchers. is the catcher for the Twins' opposition in this year's playoffs. I think that gives the opposition a unique advantage over the Twins. Jeffers must be loyal to his current team, be it the dreaded Yankees or the irascible Rays.
  16. Baseball is a roller coaster ride. Think what it must do to the emotions of a 19-23 year old player. The mental part of being a professional baseball player is challenging. Mentors are very important in this game. Players must learn to accept that baseball is a game of failures and tweaks and inches and injuries and growing up in a fiercely competitive , transparent and critical world. Good coaches and managers and trainers and mentors are critical for young players successes.
