  1. I submit that the Twins have veteran leadership already. Let's give the young players the experience they need
  2. That is an average of 5.125. Not bad. The left side needs improvement.
  3. What do you call a player who is awarded a Gold Glove award, even though his advanced metrics aren't the best at the position? THE GOLD GLOVE WINNER! Hardy congratulations to Buck and Bull Dozer. I am extremely happy for both of them.
  4. Advanced sabermetrics show Molitor to be 11 WAG-E (Wins Above Gardenhire minus Ejections), whereas any one of us here at TD could have managed either of those two powerhouse rosters at Cleveland or Houston and won the pennant...thereby giving both Hinch and Francona 0 WAR-E.
  5. 1) I'm afraid the odds are against any of these 5 pitching well enough to be of any help to the Twins. What if even 1 of the five proved effective. The odds are still 80% that the Twins won't select the 1 of the 5 that will help. 2) Give our best young pitchers experience in the majors, which they all will eventually need in order to succeed, rather than signing any of these 5. Please.
  6. What if the Twins build a strong bullpen, ala Yankees this year and Royals when they won it all recently?
  7. Are you saying top players won't sign with Minnesota because....why? No chance to win as a Twin? Too cold? Lack of "big time" media coverage? Low salaries? I
  8. I'm taking this home with me to read tonight...cover to cover. Thanks to all who contributed. I don't know how I would get through these cold 30 to 70 degree winters here in North Carolina without something to read while I drink my sweet iced tea and munch on country ham, grits with red-eye gravy, cooked apples and fluffy hot biscuits with blackberry jam. And as Phil Harris used to sing on the radio in the 1940's..."That's what I like about the South". Happy fall, ya'll.
  9. Good article. Thanks.
  10. Dozier is my favorite Twin, but I don't think he has the arm for 3B.
  11. Mark Davidson, the 4th outfielder, on the 87 Twins is from my hometown, Statesville, NC. In July 1987 Mark invited me to Minneapolis to see a 4 game series with Oakland. When the Oakland Athletics arrived they were tied with the Twins for first place. 4 days later the Athletics left town 4 games behind the Twins. It was the best 4 days of my life! I got to sit with the Twins' family members at the games and to meet Harmon Killebrew, Wally the Beer Man and Tony Oliva and other Twins' greats because it was the Equitable Old Timers game that weekend also. Friends, it just doesn't get any better than that.
  12. Instead of asking where Houston was 2-3 years ago. look at where the Twins were 2-3 years ago. Vast improvement.
  13. I hope he succeeds in AA/AAA next year. We shall see.
  14. I may trade him for a healthy. true ace pitcher, who is under 30 years old, right now.
  15. Thanks Ted for this exciting news.
  16. Good luck to Andrew. Hope to see you in the majors soon.
  17. When is that first round pick, Tyler Jay, going to burst upon the scene?
  18. Outstanding writing Tom. Thank you for the time, effort, knowledge and skill.
  19. If what you guys are saying is true, then why are you Twins' fans? If it is all about winning, why don't you pull for the baseball franchise with the most wins in the history of major league baseball, the New York Yankees? Why do fans pull for losing teams year after year? Being a loyal fan of a certain team is more than wins and losses.
  20. It is my belief that Molitor and Falvey working together everyday, communicating and learning was, and will continue to be, beneficial to both men's knowledge. Falvey is newer to his job than Molitor is to his. Molitor has been in various baseball jobs about as long as Falvey has been living. I submit Molitor's Hall of Fame plaque grants him immediate respect from the players. The two men's respective attributes combined are better than two "old school" experienced baseball minds or two like-minded, brilliant "metrics minds".
