  1. I don't remember a better winter for the Twins. It wasn't perfect. For example not signing Darvish was disappointing...but the Twins did try with a reasonable offer. The loss of some minor league players with potential was disappointing. The losses of Shaggy, Vielma, and Burti are still mysteries to me.. But overall, it was an extremely positive off season. You must admit that this past winter was very interesting for Twins fans. Thanks TD writers for keeping us informed and thanks TD moderators for keeping us civil.
  2. I would want a "dream team" which is defined as a team to play one must-win game. Or one could have a "dream team" based on future potential in say 2 years...or 5 years. I guess it depends on how one defines "dream team". Potential vs. must win right now. I wonder how Seth would rate a "must win one game dream team"? Thanks Travis.
  3. With my TD name, I certainly need some of these. That tar smells bad.
  4. Thanks for a thoughtful article. Very interesting. Can you please send it to Pressly!
  5. The Twins win the pennant! the Twins win the pennant! We'll see you tomorrow night for game 7. Victory parade in the snow in downtown Minneapolis.
  6. Thanks Seth for the excellent report and pictures. I couldn't make ST this year, and you reminded me how much I was missing. Thanks a lot!
  7. Wonderful story Mike. Thank you for writing it.
  8. All I can say is: "PLAY BALL!"
  9. Three years ago we were looking for a SS and a CF and a Catcher and Nolasco and Correa and others of their ilk. I feel so much better about this roster. Thanks F & L and Mr. P.
  10. I wish someone would insult me with a 20 million offer for my next 2 years of work.
  11. I hope the FO will attempt to sign Dozier long-term,,,but frankly, it doesn't make good economic sense for the Twins to offer what he could probably receive as a free agent. . I hate to see him go. He is a class act who professes his faith and does things away from baseball which are good, positive , humanitarian actions.
  12. Why is there no mention of defense in this discussion? Is defense not an important aspect of winning and losing?
  13. If we used "The Book", as our model for the current Twins' lineup, what would the lineup look like? Does Paulie3K have a copy of "The Book"?
  14. I doubt Dozier insisted he bat lead off, but my guess is that he stated he liked batting lead off. As we all know Bull Dozier does not write out the lineup...Paulie3K does based on a lot of variables. However I do not think Dozier should be batting lead off. But hey, what do I know. I've only managed some Little League teams and my job wasn't on the line when I did it.
  15. I feel that the death of Jorge's grandfather, Maximo on June 6, 2017 played a large part in Jorge's mid-season slump. It is understandable that Jorge was sad. His grandfather raised him, taught him to swim, taught him to play baseball. They were extremely close. It took time for him to work through this tremendous loss, which is understandable. Molitor said Gene Glenn hit grounders to Jorge for hours before the games. Molitor said he had not seen anyone work harder on his fielding then Jorge Polanco did during this time. I imagine it helped Jorge feel normal again, after his world had been rocked by the loss of his grandfather He fielded those grounders, hour after hour. I'm sure he appreciates Gene Glenn's time and kindness. He dedicated the rest of his season last year to his grandfather. I hope he is at peace and I wish him well.
  16. John, It is great listening to your summary. I look forward to tomorrow's broadcast. Especially since I won't be traveling to Ft. Myers this spring, as I had done the 2 prior springs. I'm sure I can speak for TD members and Twins fans when I say we appreciate your excellent reports...written and recorded.
  17. When you look at it this way, it really was a smart signing. Yes, the Twins got better today.
  18. What if the young stud minor league starters began their major league careers as low leverage relievers? What difference do you think that additional variable might make, if any?
  19. The Dodgers got Shaggy? I really don't understand the logic of waiving him.
  20. Not me. He'll make a million bucks annually and get to do what most of us at TD would love to do...manage a major league baseball team.
