Article: 2016 Report Cards: Infield
twinssouth replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
49 rbi's from a 1st baseman, making what $18 mil or more, now looking at part time playing, C grade seems quite generous for Mauer. Based on his salary alone seems more like a D grade.- 45 replies

Article: Turning Trevor May Into Andrew Miller
twinssouth replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
May needs to start, Duffey to the pen (hitters figured him out). Talked to a loyal Rays fan, says they have the pitching, need hitters. Twins should dangle Dozier for there stud starters. -

Cubs up 6 to 1,I believe, Hendrick narrowly missed a called strike, walks the batter and Maddon pulls him. I thought Maddon over managed that game. It didn't have to be that close. Maddon was lucky to win it, Cubs hitters bailed him out. They had 40 million viewers, most since 1991 game 7 that had 50 million, which to me is still most exciting game 7 of all time.- 47 replies

Turners been hitting 333 last 10 games. He started the season hot, hit a long cold slump and then heated up at end of season. If he can keep this up, Twins will be in great shape for catching depth because this guy is the real deal behind the plate.

Garver going to AFL doesn't really surprise me. I'm not defending the Twins here but he's been competing for catching playing time with Turner at AA and then Murphy in AAA, so to get more catching reps, he gets sent back to the AFL. I don't agree with this but I can see it being the case.- 70 replies

Article: Santana Shines Among Sad Starter Group
twinssouth replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Just thought I'd throw it out there, Twins have past Braves down here and is now, officially (for one day at least) the worst team in Mlb and if draft held today, will get the no. 1 draft pick. Yes, great news Let's celebrate. -
Buxton with 4 strikeouts, 3 the day before and 2 or 3 the prior day and many more before, are they telling him to hit for the fences and the heck with OBP. If not, it won't be long before he hears Zach Granite footsteps.

Could someone explain to me why Zack Jones was not promoted to AAA, instead of Businetz. Talk about getting screwed, look at the comparative stats. It almost seems to me that Twins have no plans to protect Jones on 40 man this off season.

Article: Game Thread: Twins v Astros, 8/8 @ 7:10pm CT

100% Totally agree on Dives, Diners and Drive ins. Went to one of his featured Dives, had the Cuban Sandwich he raved about, ate it and said, for this I went out of my way. It was just ok, nothing special, not worth coming back for. -
I was looking at Stewart's stat line for the game. It just seems very workmanlike which is not bad. He never seemed to have been in trouble. He pitches 8 innings, throws 103 pitches, gets 12 groundouts to 3 fly outs, faced 32 batters. Only gave up 7 hits, he did walk 4 but only gave up 2 runs on just 2 strike outs. It almost seemed like he was toying with the batters like try to hit this. And if they did, he would just get a ground out on the next batter. There maybe similarities to Gibson but Stewart just seems to have more talent. It seems like he's pitching based on how the game is going and what the hitters are giving him. I maybe under estimating him. I have a hunch that if he wanted, he could raise his stike outs but probably didn't see the need. Or, it could also mean he didn't have his best stuff last night but still got great results. Based on this, he should have been pitcher of the day. I'm going to try to not get hung up with his SO's from here on out.

You should go there, they completely blocked off the upper decks to give a cozier, more people attending feeling. But, it hasn't worked. On a side note, I was in Cleveland's Progressive field couple weeks ago and they did the exact same thing. -
Great job by Gonsalves but had to throw 103 pitches (62) for strikes, to get thru 6. Just needs to clean up his control but he's still dominating. Too bad about the pass ball on Melotakis strike. Businetz, the Georgia kid, had a nice debut. 2 innings, no runs. Few of these Lookout relievers need to be moved up. It's getting ridiculous.

Busenitz is on the Lookouts roster. Of all the players we got from the trades, this kid is going to be the best, a future All Star closer. That's right, you heard it here first. And, do you know why? He's from Georgia. That's Right. Go DAWGS

I couldn't agree with you more. Those are some fantastic results. Great to see Zach Jones have a terrific month. When Hildenberger comes back from DL, he should be moved up to AAA his numbers are unreal.

Antony Makes Waves At Deadline
twinssouth commented on Ted Schwerzler 's blog entry in Off The Baggy
I was impressed that finally, a Twins GM made deadline trades. Ryan would have sat on his hands and said, well, we tried, no takers. Antony gets 3 deals done. Really like the Nunez trade and any semblance of control from Light, makes that trade a big win. I'm tending to agree with Platoon, if you don't know how to handle Meyer, then trade him, for the kids benefit. -
Hector "Houdini" Santiago: New Pitcher Excels With Runners On
twinssouth commented on Tom Froemming's blog entry in Get to know 'em
Good article. Thanks. -
My last words on Meyer and then moving on. Going off memory (bad idea), goes something like this: 1st season with Twins (2013?) was shut down May to mid July for shoulder problems 2014, pitched great but shut down early as precaution due to shoulder concerns (Ryan wanted to bring him up in September but shoulder issues says no) 2015 don't recall shoulder issues but could have been in play 2016 hasn't pitched since May because of Shoulder He just couldn't stay healthy and now he's 27 and rehabbing a bad shoulder. I wish him the best of luck though. Hope he does well.

Article: Rebuilding The Rotation
twinssouth replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Tons of movement today. Let's see if I get this straight; Duffey goes to pen Berrios starts Nolasco out Santiago in Abad gone So, we're down I pitcher (whose coming up) Replaced 2 starters and both are HUGE improvements. No more molasco Nolasco -
Can't believe they moved Nolasco but little bummed out on Meyer. Wish I hadn't seen him pitch in 14 when he was on. Had high hopes but if can't stay healthy or find the plate then good deal. This trade smacks of Angels belief it can turn him around. If not, we totally got the better end. If Angels can't or just use him in bullpen, we still won. Santiago is a good pitcher. Now there's 2 lefties for the rotation and neither have to nibble at corners to get hitters out. It looks like the 4 million Twins are paying is getting them a minor leaguer thrown into the deal, already up at AAA. Anybody know anything about him. On 2nd thought, this trade is looking even better.
