Just thinking (I know, it's hard) when Michael is fully healthy, he'll probably go back to 2nd where Polanco has been playing. I can't see a platoon. Polanco would have to go back to SS which moves Goodrum out which means the Twins are still committed to SS or find another position (which I doubt) or go to AAA. Interesting.

Article: Are The Twins Drowning In Bad Contracts?
twinssouth replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
If the Twins have the LA Dogers $300M mindset, then no they are not drowning in bad contracts. But, we know that's not the case, so yes, they will be drowning in bad contracts if they don't give roster space to better young pitchers like Duffy and Berrios or have a chance to make a trade for a young stud. It's the years of contract that is the problem. If Santana is so great, why hadn't he already been on a multi year deal. These guys have been mediocre to poor, who in right mind would take on that contract. Next year, assuming the Twins can't move one of them, we'll have Hughes Santana Nolasco Milone And, only 1 open spot for Mays, Duffy, Berrios and I'm holding out hope for Meyers Who has fueled the turnaround so far? It's all the young guys. The high priced vets haven't done jack squat- 72 replies

Good to have Polanco back and Der Kep showing some muscle and great hitting. What's interesting is Polanco at 2nd, Meneses who normally plays 2nd or SS at 3rd and Niko Goodrum back at short where he has been over past few games. Levi Michael must be nursing an injury or something. Niko had been at 3rd since Sano left. He's a terrific athlete and was drafted as a SS. Anyway, food for thought. I know DM likes to mix things up.

Article: Twins Explosive Bullpen Had A Long Fuse
twinssouth replied to John Bonnes's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Great stuff all. Graham doesn't deserve to be on the roster. A trade should have been worked out with Atlanta since they thought that highly of him then he could have been in AAA working on some things, waiting for a call up, just like all the other pitchers.- 59 replies

Want to add, up until last night where he faced ARod, Graham was used in low leverage, so his past performances were, where Twins were getting blown out or had big leads, thus my term for meaningless situations.- 59 replies

Great article Seth, really well thought out and totally agree Hard to add anything more, especially after enduring the last 2 nights implosions. I think the Twins need to offer free Valium for all fans once the bullpen "1st man up bullpen parade" starts. The stashing of the JR Graham rule 5 pick has been my biggest beef. They grab a rule 5 almost every year which shows a complete lack of faith in their minor league pitchers by not promoting from within. Then, he gets added to the 25, pitching in low leverage situations, taking a roster spot away from a deserving minor leaguer. You can't tell me that a Tonkin or Achter or whoever, wouldn't be just as successful when knowing they will be on the roster for the whole year, pitching in meaningless situations.- 59 replies

Spot on Spot on Maestro. We're only 1.5 games back from 2 nd wild card. Seems to me you get your best players up to make a run at this. It's the young guys that are doing it now. Get Bux back up to man Center move Hicks over to right to use that cannon and bring up Der Kep to play outfield and 1st. The awesome Foursome will lead us to the promise land.

TN seems to have the Lookouts number this year. Hope you're right about Meyer. Former No. 1 pick Levi Michael batting 248, no need to add anything further.

Article: Coming Soon: Jose Berrios
twinssouth replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Great question, Twins have a Puerto Rico scout, I think he also covers South Florida but not sure. Berrios was well known with MLB, as the Yankees were all over him. This is one of the few times I credit the Twins in drafting. Berrios had a 95 FB and good curve coming out of high school but his determination has gotten him this far. I was hoping the Twins would take McCullers from Tampa but darn if the Astros got him so then I hoped they take Berrios and about fell off my chair when Twins picked him. -

Totally agree. Hard to believe he's only 21 when watching him. Outstanding mound presence, doesn't seem to get rattled, holds runners with the best of them. FO needs to see what they have with Pelfrey gone next year. They were probably smart not having him start in Toronto against that line up. I'd bring him up and finish the year with the Twins. -
Article: The Twins Prospect Demanding Your Attention
twinssouth replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I've seen lots of scouts at Lookout games and highly doubt Kepler is flying under the radar. If wasn't for his injury, he would have played at Futures game. Since he's had a history of injuries, my guess is they want to make sure he can play a full season. Be awesome if he was a September call up. The guy looks like a young Justin Morneau, just uncanny. He's really good, can play all outfield positions and 1st base. Since he made thru the trade deadline (wiping sweat off my brow) the Twins may have him on the untouchable list, at least I hope so. In my worthless opinion, you build the outfield around Buxton and Kepler, then fill in the blank on the other guy. I agree with Diehardtwinsfan, Buxton Kepler starting 2016 in AAA, call up to Twins. . -

I think you're right about this. Since Hicks has started to hit, they won't rush Buxton. -
Trade JR Graham back to Atlanta for AJ, then get some real bullpen help. Anybody want to take Pelfrey, Arcia or Santana? They're not all world right now but gotta be worth something.

The Twins Prospect Demanding Your Attention
twinssouth commented on Ted Schwerzler 's blog entry in Off The Baggy
Great article and couldn't agree more. Batting 331 in AA is huge. This guy is a on base machine and should be called up. -
Arcia didn't play, is he hurt or ready to be packaged and sent out? Surprising to hear Stewart's name brought up in trade talk. A package of Arcia and Stewart is quite strong for trade talk unless it's for an every day player (SS?) or front line starter and RP. Great to see Kepler continuing to hit, average staying strong at 331, showing some muscle last night. Twins be crazy to trade this Guy, best player on Lookouts and should be moved up. I'd trade Rosario before Kepler in a heartbeat. He should be on the u touchable list with Buxton Sano and Berrios. Speaking of Berrios, I saw the other night he picked another runner off 1st. This Guy hold's runners better than anyone I've ever seen. Berrios and Turner behind the plate is a deadly combo for any base runner. Last, Meyer, I just don't get it. Goes from all world to all ....... (you fill in the blanks). I'm hanging this on the coaches.

Great to see our catchers turning it on. I'm holding out hope for Turner, terrific skills behind the plate. Calls a great game and pitchers seem to trust him from the games I saw him play Now with his bat coming around, he should be in discussion to move up to AAA.

In case no one has noticed, Stuart Turner is batting 314 over his last 10 games. Just going about his business, hope he can keep it up.

I'd leave Kepler out of it. All the rest, yes. Kepler to me, has too much potential, he's a really good 2 way player.

Zach Jones and JT Chargois maybe wearing down because of last year's injuries, especially Chargois with TJ surgery. Hopefully they can bounce back.
