Article: What To Make Of All These Prospect Lists
twinssouth replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Came out of winter hibernation Seth to respond to your great article and really appreciate all the time you put into analysis and thoughts on prospects. You are right just how talented these kids are. That's why I find AA ball fun to watch. All the players at this point are really good but there still are certain players that jump out over the others, including the opposing team. Fortunately I can say (with not much bias with a semi straight face) that Twins players last year in Chattanooga were better coached and seemed more talented than many other teams played, ultimately resulting in that Championship. So based on my eye test, I pretty much agree with you on your rankings and Keith Law's. Because, when you're watching the game, certain players change the dynamic's; Sano's towering hits, Buxton's incredible defense and speed, Polanco's at bats and 2nd base defense, Berrio's in command fluid delivery and last, Kepler's amazing natural ability and sweet swing that jumps out compared to everybody else on the field. Great job Seth- 16 replies

Article: Get To Know Shortstop Engelb Vielma
twinssouth replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Great job Seth, love your reports. Saw him few times in ST, amazing defense. A little guy, fun to watch him in drills and glad to see his offense coming around. Looking forward to seeing him in Chattanooga. Merry Christmas Seth. -
Seems like yesterday when these guys were drafted Never thought the injury bug would hit so many of them which really hurt their development Tend to agree with you Seth, except I'd probably have Levi Michael little higher odds on being selected. Being selfish, I'd like to have Jones, Michael, Williams and Bard back in the Twins system next year

I really liked Jones but that last injury probably did him in, as Twins probably felt he won't get his velocity back. The game I saw this summer, he was sitting at 93/94 tops, no where near his 98/100 pre-injury.

Agree, also every year Michael had an injury. Highest he got was AA and I saw no special tools in the games I saw him play (average arm at best and not always accurate). Remember, he was drafted as a SS but couldn't stick. He could be a late bloomer if he can just play a full season

I see no reason for a Gray trade. The Twins have 2 high upside pitchers waiting in the wings. Don't write off Meyer. This guy when on, is something special. I've had the good fortune to see Meyer and Berrios pitch. Berrios is good but Meyer is dominant when on. Hopefully, an off season to clear his mind and build up some endurance to get to the 6/7th innings will get him back on track. The Twins FO though need to cut him some slack re the walk bs.

Article: Kernels Unlikely Run Falls Short In Game 5
twinssouth replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
The 26-year-old had 21 starts for the Detroit Tigers’ Low-A affiliate on the season, posting an 11-8 record with a 3.88 ERA. He also made two starts for AAA Toledo. He has made AAA starts each year since 2012 I thought Low A baseball is for Prospect Development, surprised the Tigers didn't send Verlander down to pitch the final game- 7 replies

Congrats to the Lookouts, 1st Championship for the Franchise since 1988, that's a long time coming. Doug M has something special going with this group. After all the promotions (Berrios, Duffey, Sano, Buxton) what was left was a core of 7 guys led by Kepler and Walker that resulted in another Championship. To me, that's a testament on how good Doug is as a Manager and how the guys have that drive to win, no matter what. This is a pretty special group, led by Kepler and Walker who both were voted to the Playoff All Star Team. Combined, they led the league in 8 Categories. That is IMPRESSIVE. And who said Kepler doesn't have power. I read that his homer last night cleared the right field bleachers and landed on the street. Being at the games, it's tough enough to clear the Right Field Wall, yowsers, he took it out of the Park. Also, Jason Wheeler pitched 11 innings in the Championship series and only allowed 1 run and was voted the MVP of the series. This guy must have a rubber arm. After a long season and play off baseball, he still pitched 11 innings, that's pretty remarkable. Next year should be really interesting for these guys, as they all have that winning "it factor" which you can't teach. Great job Doug and all the players.

Article: Kepler Wins Third Ring, Gets The Call
twinssouth replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Fantastic news, Kep is a 3 time Champ, he needs to be on the Wheaties box -
Oh, want to add credits to Harrison, Polanco, DJ Hicks (been turning it on lately) Meneses, the starters and all the others.

Great call on Kepler, he is an athletic OBP machine. ABW runner up is spot on. Look at the impact those 2 have. Here's a team that lost Buxton, Sano, Berrios, Duffy, has had a inconsistent (to put it mildly) bullpen and is 1 win away from playing for the Championshipm. Go Lookouts, Go Dougie

Burdi, Chargois, Peterson threw 109 pitches over 5 innings and only 60 were strikes. Control has been a problem all year for Burdi and to some extent for Chargois. Good news, JT is still pitching, year after TJ. Hopefully next year will be a breakout year for him

Article: Long Range: The New Twins Outfield
twinssouth replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I worry that the Twins will do something stupid like trade Kepler for someone we never heard of. Outside of Buxton, Kep may end up being the best of the bunch. His swing is something to behold.- 52 replies

Good to see Bard hitting mid 90's and not having his arm fall off. That's close to predraft, as hitting 97 at GA Tech. My guess is they're keeping him in Cedar Rapids this year to build arm strength under less stressful conditions, after coming out of last years surgery. Give him a good healthy off year and he could really shoot up the ranks.

Great to see Meyer turning the corner, hope he gets a call up And back as a starter next year. Burdi coming in the 7th and closing it out clean is big, looks like he's figuring it out.

Article: A Couple Outs Short: Twins Lose 5-4
twinssouth replied to John Bonnes's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Should of won that game last night. At game, have no idea how Milone did it, he's smoke n mirrors. FB at 88' change up 81' mixes in his curve. He was getting hit hard in the 5th, no way should he have started the 6th, Moli didn't have anyone up in BP. Twins relief corp looked good for whole series but the Rays just don't have a lot of offense. Sano's blast was incredible. My friend with me, said he's only seen it 1 other time. It landed on the catwalk in left center that surrounds the very top of the dome. Bounced around then came down in right center Had it cleared the catwalk it sould have hit the dome roof where it slopes down towards left field upper deck which would have been hr. The passed ball by Suzuki was total bs. He should have had it. Cotts the pitcher was totally surprised it got by him. We all were. Plus, base runners have a field day on him, the last one he didnt even bother throwing it to 2nd. Robinson sure is a little $heeeet, doesn't look like he belongs. Sano had a hot grounder he couldnt handle, ball goes to left field. Both my friend and I commented on how late Robinson was getting to the ball. Runners advanced, later run scored. Why is he on the roster. Goats last night; Suzuki and Moli for not pulling Milone after 5. May was a beast in all the games. I was impressed with Cotts and Jepsen and even Boyer was decent (he sure is slow in between pitches, drags game out a little). Starting rotation is a big ooof dah Only Duffey was decent. Batters teeing off on Santana and Milone getting by on smoke n mirrors. Keep Buxton in, so what if he strikes out 4 times, his D is awesome AND, the Rays did not send a runner home on a hit up the middle, they respect his cannon which he showed off a few times. Twins are winning because of Sano, Buxton, Rosario. Not even going to talk about Mauer.- 13 replies

This kid has some serious stamina. Lots of innings pitched, this late in the year, and still strikes out 10. No dead arm syndrome here.
