  1. Plan on a few trips to Chattanooga early, can hardly wait. Hicks, Gonzales, Sano, Walker, Harrison; these guys are some big dudes. Quite a imposing line up. Noticed no Goodrum on the list. Must be staying down in Ft Myers.
  2. It's great to have this discussion. As someone said earlier, how many other Farm Systems can have such a discussion on ranking 3 potential studs. I'm still sticking to my ranking of Meyer at 3, Berrios, 4 and Stewart, 5. Great job Nick and thanks for your feedback Brock. Can hardly wait for ST to start. Hopefully will have a chance to run into you guys down here. Also will be making lots of trips to Chattanooga; Buxton, Sano, Berrios, Polanco, Kepler, wow.
  3. Appreciate your response. Yea, can't deny Berrios had a great year, but........
  4. To the Powers to Be of TD, I don't get how you can bump a prospect from 3 to 5 due to shoulder concerns and a little wildness. Rankings should be based on potential and future impact. When he gets it right, this will go down as one of Ryan's best trades. In my book, he should be 3rd or 2nd best prospect. Concerning mechanics, I've seen him in ST and AAA and it's quite smooth. He's just so darn big, incredibly long arms, 3/4 delivery. Every time I've seen him, he's loosening his shoulder with that elastic band or whatever you call it. Seems primarily a physical thing. As Joker has said, he's a man amongs boys.
  5. TR said same thing at Twins Fest. He likes Rosario athleticism and sees him in the CF mix
  6. To me, Hicks has red flags all over. He gives up switch hitting in the minors, then goes back to it. Didn't he miss a meeting last year? Gets sent home early from winter ball. I just can't see it. Can't believe the Twins are going into the year with CF so unsettled.
  7. Ok, great stuff and my 2 cents says Meyer is our 5th starter. Last year, they had him working on his secondary pitches, mainly a change up and they had him on a pitch count to get thru a whole season. He almost made it, scratching his last start with shoulder tightness. He said this off season that he couldn't get loose on the last start and he's had no problems since. If I remember correctly, he was in line for a September call up but the shoulder issue derailed it When I saw him pitch, he's really something. His strike outs come from that slider, lots of whiffs and foul balls off the fast ball. Yea, he's had a few walks but nothing major. To me, he has too much talent to be in the bullpen. I think the Twins are taking the kids gloves off this year and turning him loose If he doesn't go North, then he should be the 1st one called up. Can hardly wait for Spring Training.
  8. OK, that explains it, thanks. Oh, the beer looked great. I was getting thirsty watching it
  9. Great job guys, video was terrific but had a hard time hearing Dave. How come no Maddon question? Would of loved to hear that answer.
  10. What an opportunity that the Twins have. They stand as good a chance as any team in getting Maddon. He will bring a winning atmosphere to the clubhouse that they sorely need and total respect through out the organization. It appears he sees this as his last opportunity to go out a winner. As someone mentioned earlier, the Rays farm system is now ranked 20 to 23 in MLB. My guess is he wants to go to an organization committed to building a Championship team. Its ironic in that Gardenhire was viewed as a winner when the Twins had all that talent and consistently winning the Division. The talent dries up, the Twins have 4 years of 90 plus losses and Gardenhire gets canned. Maddon may have seen something similar had he stayed with the Rays. The Twins have a bright future that they can sell Maddon on. Offering a 5 year contract doesn't seem unreasonable. They should be able to hammer out the money. Plus, the big thing to me is over last couple of years, Maddon can start grooming his successor. Then we can start talking Dougie baseball.
  11. In 2 weeks we'll see how Buxton does in the AFL. If he can shake the rust off, have a strong Fall, then go for it. His defense is already MLB ready, far superior to Hicks. After all, Hrbeck went from high A to the Majors and did ok. I think Sano needs more time. Seems he has a half season in AA and ave. was in the 240's, with a lot of HR's, did show improvement in his defense. If you take the aggressive approach, then Meyer has to be starting the season with the Twins. In my opinion, he's more ready then Buxton or Sano and better than most free agents not named Lester, Scherzer, Shields. 2015 starters; Hughes Meyers Gibson FA May, Nolasco and Millone fight it out for last spot.
  12. Yea, I was at a Rays game last year when he lost the ball playing LF, almost hit him in the head coming down. Then, next inning, took 3 giant rips, missed the ball a good foot, tried breaking the bat over his knee but couldn't. He is entertaining. Twins have got to get the outfield straightened out next year. They need to sign or make a trade for a strong, well rounded LF. I don't see anybody in the Minors ready yet, including Rosario. As for Center, I don't know. Do you keep Santana or get a FA? Just don't see Buxton ready for couple years, hope I'm wrong.
  13. My 3 candidates were Meint., Molitor and Martinez. I'm going with Meint. Watching him work with players in Spring Training, critiquing, pushing them, positive feedback and the way he relates with them, just seems to me the right choice. I didn't see anywhere that he was a loose cannon, instead he had a good presence. Sure he had talent to work with but he created a winning culture, getting the most out of each player to win a Championship, something no other Manager in system has done. He stresses fundamentals and aggressive on the base paths, that's Dougie baseball. I think he's the right guy for the youngsters coming up and he sure would create some excitement in Twins land.
  14. Wow Seth, that's quite the 10 ten ranking. What a difference a year makes when Rosario was I believe 5 and Meyer was 3rd. You must be quite high on Rogers to have him at 9 and having Thorpe at 11 and I fully trust your opinion on that one. The only difference I have is Meyer at 5. There's no getting around that Berrios is special when a 20 year had the impressive year he had at such high levels, ending at AAA. But, when you consider potential alone, Meyer has it. When he's on, it's Ace material. It's not often, when a 6'9" young man, firing 98 mph bullits into the 6th inning, with excellent strike out secondary stuff, comes around. He had to accomplish 2 things this year; improve command and get thru a full season which he did, albeit by a wing and a prayer. My 2 cents has Meyer 3, Berrios 4 and Stewart 5. In total, awesome job Seth.
  15. Great job Seth. Lots of talent. Glad to see Duffey get his dues. Not sure if Rosario deserves that high of ranking. I can easily see Thorpe in top 10, 18 years old in LowA, doing well, bad arm or not, he's got a bright future.
  16. Ok, I read Souhan's article on making a case for Molitor and I'm adding his name and expanding from 2 to 3 my final choices. At Spring Training, you really see the1 on 1 Molitor has with players and you see the excitement Mient has doing drills. What struck me about him was he' s quick to praise the players when they do well. Mient seems like a positive guy. Now that the discussion has begun; since I can't stand typing Dougie M's last name, I am officially changing it to Mient, you know kinda like gold mints. And, an executive decision has been made, twinssouth is officially withdrawing from the candidate list. Ever since baseball has banned my play, "the flying torpedo home plate buster upper " I can no longer with good conscious, take the job.
  17. Twins will continue to get younger, with more talent. Mientkiewicz (man I hate spelling that name) and Martinez of Tampa Bay are my choices. Either one would work for me.
  18. This had to happen, best of luck to Gardy for a long, successful run but it was time. I will miss his quotes and I'm sure the umps won't miss him but it sounds like he wants to continue managing. Wouldn't surprise me if he gets hooked up with another team. I just don't see where the Twins had a choice. Now they can go forward and create some excitement.
  19. He is one class act. He gets total respect from me. What he said yesterday about turning down the chance to make his $500,000 bonus by pitching 1 more inning and his reasoning, was total class.
  20. I agree Seth, Garver was the hands down winner for hitter of the year. He was so consistent. As to defense, both Turner and Garver were the best catchers in college ball in 2013. Twins were smart drafting those two. They also were impressed with Turner, extending him an invite to the MLB side of Spring Training. I saw both in Spring Training and give the defense nod to Turner but felt Garver isn't too far behind.
  21. Seth, what do we now, the Minors are done. Is there a Twins affiliate in Korea or some place we can follow. I need to find a withdrawal pill
  22. Congrats to the Miracles and coaching staff and, they had to win all home playoff games at Jet Blue rather than Hammond. That's even more amazing. This is a talented bunch. I say bring them all up now, including Doug and lets see some Dougie ball.
  23. I agree, it's embarrassing. The outfield is a mess (Star Trib pointed that out), mediocrity at 3rd, underwhelming 1st basemen and then the pitching, I don't even want to get started on that. How can these AAA pitchers come up and stink the joint up that bad. How can Twins Management promote these guys. Can they really judge talent. Now the Astros are 2 games up on Twins.
  24. As of this morning, Astros and Cubs have better records: Astros 1 game better Cubs, 3 games better I thought I'd never see the day where the Astros pass the Twins in the rebuilding race but it has happened They got rid of the Manager, have young talent playing and don't seem to have any ridiculous contracts hanging over them, like the Nolasco fiasco. Yikes, Terry and the crew have been outdone. I've always been a fan of Terry because of his ability to build a Farm System but sometimes cringe on his MLB roster decisions I haven't totally lost faith on Terry but doubts are beginning to seep in. To add more concern, the Cubbies are now 3 games up. Results speak, step it up Twins, we need to beat them to future playoff appearances.
