  1. wait a minute. you mean other managers make mistakes?
  2. not a fan of the incessant sac bunting and the often-questionable bullpen management (due at least in part, of course, to the often-questionable bullpen). but hard to argue with the team's play down the stretch and the apparent camaraderie. three years? no big deal -- steinbrenner fired gene michael 11 games into a three-year contract ...
  3. to reiterate what's been posted elsewhere: what's the deal with so many "quality" starting pitchers getting rocked day after day this postseason? just watched fister leave after 3 er in 1-1/3, peacock after 3 er in 2-2/3. that on the heels of severino, santana, kluber, walker, pomeranz, ray. even kershaw's 4 er in 6-1/3 was less than ace-like. is it all just an abberation? it does bring to mind the 3-3-3 rotation idea put forward about a decade ago, whereby pitchers throw only three innings every third day. of course, that wouldn't solve the less-than-three-inning problems of severino, santana, fister, peacock, etc. ...
  4. huh. now i see that gibson was just lighting a fire under his mates.
  5. what yankees fans REALLY be like: who are we playing again? milwaukie? michigan?
  6. justin upton 5-for-34 (.147) over last seven days. mike trout 4-for-22 (.181) over last six days. sad.
  7. so many right answers! a good night in twinsville ...
  8. whomever is responsible for keeping buxton in the majors despite his early struggles probably saved the season. at very least rowson needs a raise.
  9. no one knew beating cleveland could be so complicated.
  10. in some circles, willie was known as the second coming of dr. strangeglove. of the original, '60s outfielder-turned-first-baseman dick stuart, it's been written: "Every play hit his way was an adventure, the most routine play a challenge to his artlessness. It is hard to describe this to anyone who has not seen it, just as it is hard to describe Xavier Cugat or Allen Ludden."
  11. speaking of twins pitching, ricky nolasco already working his magic: angels down 2-0 in the first.
  12. verlander IS pitching for the twins. four wins this month: angels twice, mariners twice.
  13. season’s over. season’s not over. season’s over. season’s not over ...
  14. cleveland 4, angels 1. upton 0-for-4. sad.
  15. gimenez.
  16. not to mention the sky-is-falling freakout when the '87 twins lost their last five regular-season games ...
