  1. Yes, he was in the baseline. Yes, that's the rule. No, it didn't affect the play other than that he might have gotten drilled if he were running up the line.
  2. Wow! I checked the score and we were up 8-4. Watched a TV show with my wife and boom! ...and we just caught a huge break.
  3. Yeah, I kind of look at what tennis has done. Their system tracks 100+ mph tennis balls and gives them an accurate call. I was baffled watching Sabathia throw left handed hooks that "clipped" the outside corner (even though they were 3 inches outside) and then watched Berrios the next inning throw fast balls to the same spot that missed. The playing field won't be level until we remove the human factor. Replay has improved the play while reducing managers getting tossed for arguing calls. It just makes sense.
  4. I hate to say this, but as bad as Cinci has been, we have Hughes going tonight and the Twins have been just what teams like Tampa have needed to get on track. It's not going to shock me if we suffer our 8th straight loss tonight.
  5. In the time it took to shut down my computer and walk to my car, the Twins went from up 3-1 to game over on a walk off dinger. Wow! That one got away quickly. Oh well...move on. Who's next?...and btw, we are cursed when it comes to the Yankees. However, if Boston could lift the curse, so can we.
  6. I watched the first 5 innings and it just seemed like Sabathia's strike zone was huge while Berrios threw at least 4 strikes that were not called. Let me put it this way, if a lefty can throw a slider and hit the outside corner to a right handed hitter, a right handed pitcher should get the call when he hits the same spot with his fastball. The Yankees are good enough that they didn't need help and yet they got it.
  7. We are in a bit of a funk...normally, a rain out is just what the doctor ordered, but that is the last thing this team needs.
  8. Well, you said she went away mad...perhaps she had some expectations that you were oblivious to...and then she called back...perhaps she wanted a second chance (for the mare of course). Just saying that an opportunity missed is an opportunity lost.
  9. There are so many different directions I could go on this...and all of them would get me banned from TD.
  10. Yadi Molina. Best defensive catcher in baseball for like 15 years. Batted .284 which isn't bad for a great defensive catcher.
  11. Hmmm. Based on current numbers, tough to say. 5 more years of playing puts him around 650 more hits if he keeps hitting for his current average and plays 1B full time. However, there is one more factor that hasn't been discussed - likability. It's easy to vote for a guy that's humble, and easy to like vs.....oh, say...Gary Sheffield?
  12. So, dumb question...why wasn't a game like this on MLB network or on ESPN?...Oh wait, nev mind, the Yankees were playing.
  13. Given the announcers and the crowd, it doesn't feel like a home game.
  14. Buxton a scratch with a migrane, so Kepler in center and Grossman in right.
  15. I don't recall the ball flying out of the ballpark like it is this year in the cold weather.
  16. BTW, can any of you ever see the Twins getting into a bench clearing brawl? The only guy that I could see getting ticked off enough to charge the mound would be Rosario. And I'm not sure any of our pitchers would dare to plunk someone. Minnesota nice.
  17. The names have changed, but the reaction is still the same. My favorite day of the season is the day when the Yankees are eliminated from the playoffs.
  18. Well, the authors swear that while drugs were involved while writing it, the song is about a drive around Chicago...given that it was 1971, there may have been a subtle reference there...subtle...or not so subtle. That may be why I never heard it on the radio.
  19. OOH! But here is one good thing about Chicago. Lake Shore Drive! The song...by Aliotta Haynes Jeremiah. They don't make them like this anymore. Enjoy!
  20. Son of an Ozzie! I hate these Sox...OK, I don't even know who most of these guys are, but I still hate them. Two bench clearing brawls yesterday and I'm thinking a snowball fight is in order for this one. Go Twins!
  21. Rosario will be fine...everyone calling for him to be sent to the minors, your hair is on fire...stop it. He's a really good major league player who plays very aggressively both on offense and defense. It's April...simma down! Last year, the Astros didn't have a winning record until April 29th. We have a really, really good team. I am concerned with Hildy, he hasn't looked right compared to last year. I'm not concerned about Morrison other than to think he might be pressing a bit.
  22. It's the first place Minnesota Twins vs. the first place Houston Astro's...a clash of the Titans!
  23. Uh boy...George. This thread just took a turn. Queue the music.
  24. I kind of feel like one of the Joe's here but what would a wild Siberian tiger on your wedding day be? Answer: One hell of a honeymoon. Nice job RB as always and I am in concurrence with the Hildy assessment. I watched him in spring training and something doesn't look right. Last year, his breaking ball had more snap on it. This year it seems to spin like a frisbee and just get smacked. Also, I remember him changing arm angles every now and then, but I haven't seen that yet this year.
