  1. Good news for Twins fans. We might have pitchers with high ERA's, but at least we aren't paying them 16 million a year!
  2. Pat Dean wins a 12 pitch at bat with Jacoby Jones with a K. Could be the highlight of the year for him.
  3. Yeah, but I'm guessing between the league office and the players union, there are restrictions on things like how quickly they can be brought back up to the majors after being optioned down to the minors.
  4. It's a creative way to expand the roster, but I'm guessing if there isn't something to prevent it in place already, there would be in a hurry.
  5. Yeah, that's kinda what I was wondering. I know he was groomed as a SS, but wasn't sure of his arm.
  6. Who needs starting pitching? Let's be creative here. We go with a 13 man rotation. Everyone throws one inning a day. That's right. You throw one inning just like a little league rec team looking for anyone that can throw it across the plate. If you fail miserably, you get the next day off or get shipped down to the minors and we bring up the next in line. You gotta ask yourself - what would Billy Beane do?
  7. I actually think there is a good possibility of moving Dozier to 3B by some team. He is at an age where the defensive range begins to decline and he has the pop. I don't like the idea of trading for prospects unless they are AAA and MLB ready.
  8. No you're not...and neither am I.
  9. Wish for a win streak when you blow out the candles!
  10. I'm not in the trade Dozier camp...UNLESS it reaps major league ready elite talent either at SS, catcher, or SP. That said, I'd love to see what Polanco can do at SS after an offseason of work to prepare him for the position. I don't think it's fair to put him at SS when he hasn't had any real time over there any more than I think it was fair to put Sano in RF without any real time out there.
  11. Yeah. The entire MLB has gone the way of the big throwers and the Twins are late to the party. I wish they would buck the trend. I'm not a proponent for the the following reasons: 1. More elbow and shoulder problems. 2. The faster the pitch, the further it goes. Make the hitter generate their power. Late movement is what the Twins should be looking for in a pitcher. A 95 mph fastball that goes straight is easier to hit than a 90 mph fastball with late movement.
  12. I get my hair cut by the daughter of a former World Series MVP. Shout out to my girl Donna.
  13. Yeah, I get that, but as I pointed out in another post, guys coming up from the minors who don't know the basics aren't the fault of the manager. Guys coming up from the minors who suddenly can't throw strikes or hit their spots aren't the fault of the manager. We can replace Molitor with anyone and I doubt it will make a difference. We've got issues that go deep into the organization.
  14. Not saying that they even out. I would say that it is a relatively small sample size in a season where the pitching has been awful. As much as I am pulling for Neil Allen, I would part ways with him at the end of this year. Defensively, we are terrible, but what I find baffling is how these guys aren't being taught some of the basics in the minors. That isn't on Molly. Putting Sano in the OF was a terrible idea, but I'm not sure that was Molly's choice either.
  15. I don't necessarily agree that Molitor and company should be fired. Last year was good, this year was not. I do agree that the new person should have the authority to hire and fire as they see fit. If we were a Fortune 500 company spiraling downward and looking for a new CEO, would we offer someone the job without giving them the authority to fire or make other key business decisions? That's why you hire a CEO! You hire them to make tough decisions. To say to the person before even hiring them that we aren't going to allow them to make one of those tough decisions is undercutting them. Seems silly. Also, did Terry Ryan have the authority to fire coaching staff? I would hope so. If so, why would you take that away from the new person?
  16. Word on the street is that you were out when you lifted your leg during the interview.
  17. I'm actually one of the few people who like Bert and Bremer. Yeah, I'm comparing them to Hawk and Stone Pony, so that might skew my opinion a bit...a lot...a ton. It's gotta be tough to do their job of sprinkling sugar and rose petals on a season that has wreaked of raw sewage from the get go and then getting the viewer to eat what they are serving up. If they told it like it is, they wouldn't have jobs and if I were in their shoes, I would have been ushered out the door a long time ago...possibly for cursing repeatedly on air.
  18. I don't know that it's a given that there will be house cleaning. I know that the "total system failure" line was used this year, but, if you look at what it takes for a championship team, the entire system has to work - scouting, development, statistics, coaching at every level, medical/trainers, etc.. If even one of those areas fail, the house can tumble down in a hurry and when the house crumbles like it did this year, I don't think it is a given that every area failed. I think that is the biggest challenge for the new person/people. Figuring out what parts to keep in place and what parts to replace.
  19. The bottom line for a lot of these guys is that playing time = money...unless you are Joe Mauer. If you are Trevor Plouffe (just using him as an example even though he's on the DL), you want playing time because playing time = stats and stats = dollars. If you're a young guy, making a MLB roster is a pay raise and you're trying to build a resume'. If you're staring down the barrel of free agency, you want to be on the field to showcase yourself. All of that isn't Molly's issue, but you can bet the players let him know that they want to see the field. I'm sure there are other issues like aches and pains as well that make it tough to balance making a lineup when the game is meaningless in terms of the playoffs. While the James Beresford story is a feel good story, does it make sense to play him if he isn't part of the long term plan? Don't get me wrong, I'm happy for the guy. Enjoy it while it lasts. What I took from the interview is that it seems that the front office moves and the managerial needs seem to be out of sync. While they may call Molly in to ask him some questions, he isn't part of the final decision. That doesn't seem like a formula for success.
  20. Another explanation is that, during contract negotiations, sacrifice bunting probably doesn't equate to $$.
  21. I'm OK with them staying in the dugout except for special occasions, but don't sit on the bench. At least show respect for the flag and for those who died to give us the right to protest our imperfections. Nuff said. Don't need to start a debate.
  22. #18 - because the players still stand for the national anthem at baseball games.
  23. http://i.telegraph.co.uk/multimedia/archive/03147/Jess_Smith-Teletub_3147215c.jpg This is what the Teletubbies sun baby grew up to be.
